same, skincare didn't help me at all with it though. i got it in 11th grade at the second semester for the ENTIRE semester, and as soon as school ended (like 3-4 days after it ended) i had perfectly clear skin. it turns out my anxiety was the main reason my skin was so bad then.
@@coagulatedsalts4711 yeah I had the same thing but when I started college, I ended up having to take medication for it because I couldn’t really skip college for my skin! But I just started to enjoy skin care routines and stuff while trying to clear my acne 👍
If your a girl it's typically hormonal, birth control pills can help along with antibiotics.. If male, exfoliation and antibiotics. Retin A and even Accutane, if you are a scarring and have extremely oily skin.
Took me 4 whole years to get rid of my adult, hormonal cystic acne. Without medication. Lots of patience, lots of crying, lots of telling myself “I’m more than my skin”… And I AM more than my skin, but it’s also true that I never got attention the way I do now while I was suffering from acne. I’m still left with some slight scarring on my lower cheeks but it’s something I’m completely ok with. I’m just so happy I’ve reached a point in my life where I can walk out the door without thinking about my skin.
This reminds me of a girl back in school who suffered from severe acne, she was always named the prettiest in class, I was her best friend and I remember she loved to bring others down to make herself feel better and I always fell for it ,I had serious low self esteem because of her ,I always thought acne was cute until I left the school
Which is why good skin is only one part of what makes people look pretty. Good facial features and proportions make people look good even if they have bad skin.
Weird cause having bad acne made me become a really nice person. When ppl are rude to you you learn how to be nice. But I guess some ppl go the exact opposite way to not be seen as vulnerable
@@alicia-hd2cs doesn't that push the idea that acne is ugly and a bad thing that people should be ashamed for? No one should be grateful to not be made fun of (None of this excuses her behavior of course)
Recent research show that people who struggle with acne actually has a defect in breaking down collagen. The collagen resists degradation and becomes sticky in the pore and causes blockage. The upside is, their skin resists aging and can restore collagen excessively. Vitamin A based product helps such as retinoids because they help modulate collagen shedding.
i don't know. my skin is a totally weird uneven complexion. rosy cheeks. veiny skin. people seem to like it but lots of times i wished i had one skin color like 99% of people lol
I have uneven skin tone and from what I've seen 99% of the people have uneven skin tone. If most people had one skin color we wouldn't have so many concealers and correctors.
I liked the video even before he could say "Bad skin fairy will come and get you". BTW, I just realised that the narrator has a very pleasing voice and accent. I remember there was some resistance against the other one because of the same reason.
Every time I watch any of these vids I instantly become conscious that my tongue is on the roof of my mouth. So happy I made the random conscious choice to breathe in through my nose during track practice when I was 14. 😤
Just in case there’s anyone out there who can’t afford to see a dermatologist, you can ask your primary physician about tretinoin! It’s the same prescription acne cream you would get from a dermatologist. Also, more studies have been done that show there’s a correlation between food and skin health. Remember correlation does not equal causation, meaning that it doesn’t mean for sure certain foods cause acne. It goes on a person by person basis. You could have a food sensitivity! Most importantly, remember to take care of yourself!! ☺️
i literary was thinking about how I should start taking care of my skin since I have had bad skin my whole life, I used to have a lot of acne my whole childhood, I don't have too much of it now but it left scars and my skin is not as smooth as I would like. this video came at the right time, it's time I get back into skincare and pay more attention to my skin, I would really really love to have a smooth face.
Would be interesting to see a video on how a lazy eye could affect how attractive you are perceived. And also just how the face may grow since eyes are not perfect spheres.
He made a video on it called "All Eye colors are overated. When evaluating eyes, people tended to choose the most youthful looking eyes as most attractive.
Shame about the texture..I used to have really bad acne that left me with pitted scars even though my skin is perfect now and never breaks out anymore. Even though I’m healthy now my skin still signals that I’m not. It’s weird to have glowy skin that’s somehow textured sending mixed signals. 🙄
I have a beautiful face apparently but covered with acne all the time or scarring no matter what I do. It sucks. It’s like taking a ferrari and putting unfixable scratches on it. It almost feels worse than just being ugly. I hate life
Jessica Pimentel is a good example. She has some mild acne, but her face is so ridiculously gorgeous that no person ever would come with the idea to mention that little flaw. She does beauty and makeup tutorials
I got chickenpox scars, milia, and eczema but that I can't really change. I love that for me but no joke I am happy with my skin because It was a lot worse.
I take care of my skin, but the acne doesn't go away :( I stopped eating many things I liked to try to be healthier and my skin get better, but it's still red with internal pimples and peels :((
@@miyah0nn yeah..it coud be both actualy. Coffee increase sebum production and a lot of people have reaction to milk due to its sugars, proteins and hormones. (Trust me - Im not happy about it either - had to stop coffee and dairy coz my skin was getting inflamed after my morning cup)
You acne must be hormonal, since it's not affected by external factors like diet or skincare. I sugest you go to a dermatologist, they will be able to give you a better insight on the issue and prescribe you something to treat it.
Not sure how I ended up here. Been the type to not really care about looks however I am into science. Specifically data science and so hearing towards the end about building a CNN to classify facial features and also a generative adversarial networks was a pleasant surprise. I worked on a CNN to distinguish between X-rays of COVID and Pneumonai lungs and also wrote a tutorial paper on GANs for one of my assignments. Anyway, I'm actually curious to check out your other content and learn more about the science of attractiveness and what not.
I have eczema and right now it’s doing really well cause I’m taking shots to reduce symptoms and a prescribed cream. So my skin on my face is pretty clear but it still somewhat has a rough texture, and my checks are red which I think kinda looks like blush
One can look better with nice texture and skin tone even with average bone structure construction Some people with great bone structure and unhealthy skin don't look good
I disagree. There is a lot of people i have seen that are beautiful even with acne. Of course, i think no one likes acne and we have a tendency to prefer smooth skin but having it does not mean you are ugly if you have acne. It'a a normal thing and a lot of people have it.
@@gimmeyourankles acne is not normal, please don’t normalize it, how often do you see people with a noticeable amount of acne on their face? Now compare that to people without acne it’s a lot higher
I understand why people are averse to diseases, makes sense, but still, I believe we need to rethink why we judge people solely on how they look. Yes, acne can loon ugly, but it is not a catching disease and can be treated. Its scars too. But, some people choose (or can not afford) to treat scars. So we maybe shouldn't stick to skin and judge people on that. Great video and explanation, it's the initial concept of aversion to imperfections I disagree with. I wish we could normalise imperfections.
YOU SAID IT PERFECTLY! As a person who is used to see scars, skin conditions and skin imperfections, i leaned to not focus on those things. Yes, no one likes acne and scars but this doesn't mean there is not beauty behind it.
Becuase if we didn't judge people on how they look we would have a lot more disease as poor genetics would be passes along to offspring. It's literally the reason why we care how people look in the first place. I agree, as an average looking man, it would be nice to make eye contact and not have people jerk their heads away because my face isn't pleasant to look at lol such is life though
From a virtuous, higher-minded perspective I completely agree with you. That's the beauty of human beings-we can advanced enough to question and bypass our biological impulses, for both better and worse. However, at the end of the day we are still just animals; evolved enough to have thinking and a self-conscious but still limited by our base impulses. Qoves was just detailing the factual aversion to imperfections that every human being has, no matter how enlightened or awake an individual might be. We automatically make snap judgements on information gathered by our senses moment-to-moment. Most of that input is physical, and thus our judgements are made almost instantaneously based on the physical elements of people we encounter and our immediate environment. That's the beauty of expressing yourself to someone or a group of people-it allows them to know and judge you on a deeper level.
Bad skin is health condition. Our primal biological systems do not posses any medical knowledge to understand that its just acne. We just automatically find it gross. Just like a snot. Or missing teeth. Our instincts tell us to stay away from this abnormality. And its kinda the right thing to do. Acne is an infection and inflammation. It means your immune system is weak. It may be just hormones, or food allergy, or parasites or just bad genes. No reason so stick around and find out.
skin is not even something we can CONTROL, sure we can have skincare to prevent it from getting worse but having acne, skin conditions or big pores are not things we can choose not to have even though we know it's important.
Thaaaats not true. So many people get rid of acne by removing sugar or gluten or dairy or by treating their gut dysbiosis. Or by fixing their hormonal imbalance. And pores..they usually look bigger when they are full of junk. Less veggie oils and less coffee often help with regulating how much oil your skin produce and how much junk gets in them pores.... Maybe you need more zinc , maybe your vit D levels are low, there are so many possible reasons for bad skin. But just to claim "its beyond my control", bruh... Unless you try EVERYTHING you dont know.
Fix your diet and find products that rebuild and maintain your skins moisture barrier and micro biome . Also only allow silk material to touch your face and sunscreen!
The truth is that physical appearance is only a part of things that make people attractive.. people get attracted to a certain smell ( biochemistry- plays a huge roll), gestures, facial expressions, voice, walk; personality compatibility is also huge ( from mbti point, there‘re people you click with much easier than with others). There can be people measured attractive, but IRL you are not attracted to them at all; For example, Robert Pattinson is ranked pretty high, I see that geometrically his face is sympathetical, but not me neither any of my female friends and acquaintances ever were attracted to him…
look at dating statistics .. looks are the only thing matter nowadays also personality is very dependent on positive reinforcement and halo effect the spark/connection is just ... good facial familiary + attractiveness you feel attracted to people who look similar to you / your parents.
can you do facial analysis of michaela coel. she has a very sharp face I would describe her face as almost cat like. she really has a face that's perfect for the role of a evil queen.
I actually sent them a picture of her on Instagram about a year ago, hoping he’d do an analysis on her. I got a response on how “unique” her features are but nothing (clearly) came of it. Hopefully they follow up on this comment though👏🏾.
can you please talk about about eyebrows and attractiveness, like having a lot of eyebrows and having too little, and about eyebrow shapes? I have very few eyebrows and I think it makes me look so ugly, and I hate having to draw my eyebrows every day.
In case it helps anyone out here, this is how I got my skin clearer and better than ever: sensitive micellar water to cleanse ( MCT oil first cleanse if wearing makeup), cerave cream (original or pm) to moisturise, la Roche posay spf50 sunscreen if going out. Retinol twice a week. The rest are specific to my skin care concerns. caffeine+ vitamin c for my dark under eye area. Azelaic acid for my mild rosacea. Both also twice a week. Castor oil for lashes+ brows. My skin is the healthiest it's ever been. I also suffer from malassezia (fungal acne) so all these products are safe for that. HTH 💓
@@lourainevillalon3852 I make my own with vitamin a powder and rosewater (or u could pop an oil filled vitamin a capsule and dilute it with more oil then use that) edit: try the Ordinary granactive retinoid if you want a ready made brand, I hear it's good for sensitive skin and I use their stuff for azelaic acid/caffeine
People with vitiligo look so beautiful. Ever since a kid I always found vitiligo mesmerizing. I have a few people in my life who have it and truly they shine and stand out. Really it's beautiful. The only reason why I found it ugly for a while was because someone told me and that's how I began to view it only until I grew and matured a little did I realize to myself why do I hate vitiligo. It's not it's bad it's beautiful and unique actually. Sometimes people are told that certain things are the way they are thus we form this dislike toward it. It's usually not really about it being not attractive. ✨✨✨.
My skin is not bad enough for actuante but even though I have been having a consistent skincare routine I don’t see my acne/blackheads/big pores/texture improving anytime soon
won't this video affect young girls\boys badly? I mean with all this smoothing and completely face changing effects going on on social media, should we really keep this "if you don't have skin as smooth as a baby's butt you can't be attractive" mentality ? I personally don't let skin textures and such affect the way I would be attracted to a person, I usually don't ever notice it
You missed the point of the video. Its pretty obvs that you can be attractive even with a bad skin. There are plenty of attractive people with less than perfect skin. Its just a A LOT easier to be attractive with a good skin.
But you can't fool people either, and tell them that "everyone is beautiful", because if everyone is - then nobody is beautiful. There are things that are scientifically attractive, and there are things that are not attractive. Simple as that, and it is important to know that from the young age, it's way better to know the truth that hurts than to be delusional. No one is special and world won't bend to you so you can feel comfortable. It's unrealistic. Besides most teens know about photoshop and stuff like that. It is what it is.
He's just stating from a scientific point why all this caracteristics are perceived as "atractive" by people, obviously everyone has their own preferences, and an good personality still plays a role on finding people "atractive" rather than ONLY phisical atractiveness.
qoves making me even more insecure with the recessed face comment which is true. i wish i never mouth breathed bc now im 18 and its way too late to change anything unless i go under the knife. fuck.
No, it's not too late. You can start mewing at any age and make visible improvements. Surgery can be risky. Also, 18 is very young. Sutures don't start to fuse until 25(not 100% sure about this)
I'm happy my sister pressured me to continue to nose-breathe when I was younger although I struggled due to childhood asthma and hay fever. I'm sorry you never had an adult to also help you. I doubt it's 'too late' and as the other commenter said, there's some natural alternatives - orthotopics most likely being one. I'm no professional tho, so do your research and ask around. 💕
@@possiblyanonymousguy1904 hey, i've been mewing and nose breathing for several months now but i still get insanely bad allergies and a blocked nose every day so i'd usually have to mouth breathe every night instead of taking a telfast and spending money on medication like that.
@@user-fn1nt1su5mI feel you. This guy explains what I'd tell people when they're unable breathe while mewing -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R1AuwVKNw0g.html The top comment in the comment section of that video: “Calcifer 1 year ago I was in a similar situation where I quite literally could not mew without not being able to breathe, and all I can say is if you're a teen especially; focus on getting either "reps" or mewing or lower your tongue to the most you can fit while being able to breathe. For me it was uncomfortable and sounded like "darth vader" if I had to describe it, but after around 10/11 months of inconsistent "mewing" and essentially just being aware of my tongue posture and trying to correct it when possible I'm at the point I can mew without it sounding/looking abnormal. Best advice I can give is to just set timers/reminders regularly or if you're at school try to focus on keeping posture in any downtime. If after a year of genuinely trying you might want to consider getting either an expander, MSE, or any other option if you can. Until then you might as well try to figure out mewing and just focus on hardmewing in reps to gain that space. Sorry if this made no sense, feel free to ask if you have any questions, and thanks Ronald for the video.” Conclusion: Don't give up!
@@user-fn1nt1su5m I said this on another thread, but BOTOX can solve the problem. If applied on the muscle responsible for lifting the upper lip, it will make it go down, correcting the appearance of an permanently "open mouth". The same technique is also used to correct "gummy smiles"
that’s one of those things that varies by culture/your other facial features. Just like the “ideal nose”. Unless your eye shape strongly indicates a medical issue there’s not going to be a universal answer
I think it’s weird how as a society we want baby smooth skin. Why are we trying to have the skin of literal children? We age and that’s the normal part of life.
Because biology? Softer and smoother skin is a sign of health and youth, so it's preferred. Aging is normal but something being normal doesn't make it good. Aging is a bad thing and it's fine to admit that.
@@ammarahmed4532 premature aging. When a person gets to their mid 20s their cells die faster than they multiply. But stress or sickness make the cells die off more rapidl.
Idk but like when white girls get red it's like really attractive idk to explain like the redness is maybe like a sign of great health fertility something like that???
You need to check the strength of the tretinoin first. Also patch test to see how your skin reacts to it. Many people get tretinoin burn and irritation at first which is normal but if it’s too harsh for you go for a lower strength. The initial phase of using and acclimatising to it is called retinisation so you’ll have a little irritation but after a few days your skin will get used to it. You can use a moisturiser first as a buffer and apply very little and gradually increase the amount you use
Retinol in your late teens and 20s and then start on low dose tretinoin. The mist important thing is sunscreen during the day and barrier creams after the tret at night,
So I am basically fucked. I don't have good facial aesthetics nor a good body shape, and not even good skin texture. Might as well stop calling myself a human at this point 😰😓😂
i honesty don't get the point of this channel, explaining what is attractive or not? well everyone already knows that or has their own opinion, the only thing it can really provide is new insecurities for people who haven't had them before lol. And if it's advice like "lose weight" pretty much everyone knows that too, and if you're gonna tell ppl to use skincare at that point they just might watch a beauty channel or something. There doesn't seem to be any idea in this videos presented really.
sometimes I feel like the vids do lack a direction. However, I think the research into which beauty standards are biological and which are cultural is very interesting. He’s also made videos about why some features work on some faces and not others
