There shouldn't be a difference between the controllers included with the x or s.

Thanks for this video, Kevin as I wasn't even aware of this pack as I was just using disposable batteries lol. The only problem I've found is the official ones are really difficult to find online just now as all the stores are out of stock. Amazon has third party ones but not sure how efficient they are in comparison.

Yeah Amazon doesn't seem to get the official battery pack in stock much. It's still in stock in many stores around the UK, but not sure what availability is like elsewhere.

Hi thank you for the video I'm having a really hard time with this controller I got it to work it's from China it hasn't a scepter and only one USB cable there's a flashing red dot in the front that has numbers from 1 to 4 also there is no reset button that people used to reset their controller to their Xbox. Can you tell me how I charge it? Thanks

Apparently the older batteries don’t work on the newer controllers.. or maybe it’s just mine

I haven't used the old battery, but the new battery had no issues working in an Xbox one controller.

The pack I use on my old controllers and elite 1 charges just fine... But series x... Nope ... Won't charge. Only the new pack will charge on the series s/x controllers idk why...

@@shadowchaostime174 I figured out why the older batteries wouldn’t work. Turns out the metal connectors on the actual battery and my controller needed to be cleaned with some alcohol. Everything is fine now.

Kev, I want to buy a Steam Deck and a docking station for it. I am also gonna buy some Xbox Series X/S controllers to use when gaming on the docked Steam Deck. My question - I know the controllers are compatible with the Steam Deck. But can I also use the Play and Charge kit? Can I just plug that kit into a plug > wall or into my PC or somewhere else to charge the controller(s), or should I just get some rechargable batteries instead because this particular charge kit only works with an Xbox? Thanks in advance.

I haven't got a steam deck so I haven't tested this, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work as it's just a standard battery pack. I'm not sure whether the steam deck would show you the battery level though.

Not sure I understand it entirely: so does the Xbox One controller not charge the newer Xbox Series battery? My friend gifted me one of the newer batteries, so I'm in doubt whether I can charge it using the Xbox One controller and a regular old micro USB cable. I my micro USBs are faulty so I have purchased a new one and am waiting for it to arrive.

Yes, the old controller is still capable of charging the battery up using the micro B cable. The cable connector is attached to the controller section above the battery.

I have a Xbox one x(not series x).can I charge a series x controller on the one x? S know battery packs are compatible with each other but can I plug the series x play and charge cord into Xbox one? Its usb one end and usb-c other end. It should work right?

no a usb type c cable is in the box but you need a micro-usb cable. Most people have those around already and they cost barely anything if you need to buy one

My battery cover is stuck/very hard to remove after putting the play and charge kit battery in.

Are you sure you've got the right battery kit for your controller? It should be a good fit if it's the correct model.

My battery kit is the japanese model and controller is xbox one english model. Is this why it's like this? Everything works fine except I can't take off the battery cover.

I did test this battery kit with my Xbox one kit. It's not as good a fit, but it did seem to squeeze in. Ideally, you're better with the older Xbox one battery kit for Xbox one controllers.
