Does the Technics SL-1200MK7 Pitch Control Have Dead Space?

So to summarize, the only problem is that the scale is not aligned in the upper range and it reaches 8% earlier. It's a bit confusing, but at the same time I ask myself: is this really a big problem? Does anyone actually pay attention to the percentage number while riding the pitch by ear? Also, in practice I try to avoid the 8% range or just use the 16% range to have more room to maneuver if I need to change pitch so much.

Jup this dead pitch issue is also with the SL-1200GR and 1200G. It has also been an issue on the M5G and MK6 that both also had digital pitch.

Panasonic really soiled themselves calling this deck a Technics 1200. If they would have called it a 1000 (1200 lite) and lowered the price, fair enough. It’s a long way in build quality from a mk2 - mk6

I have two MK7s, one is new and in Traktor there is no dead zone, I compare same track on the old one and IT HAS a dead zone between 8% and / 6.5%. I didn't notice this issue until today that im using DVS and visually see the BPM value. Now I don't know if I should be angry and send the problem to Technics. I can confirm that there is a problem with the old batches.

So I have the Mk7 and it works fine

You can hear the control tone do nothing between 7 and 8

you have set up your experiment and write the results down you set out to test a dead spot between 7 and 8 you start by testing 6(?) then you test 7 and don't write down the result 8 is the same as 7 and you conclude "i guess it's a little hard to see" lol

Theres good reason analog controlled pitch is better. Back in the days of mixing 140bpm hard dance especially. A lot of hard dance is between 138 - 144bpm. U need to ride pitch in no more of less than around 2% intervalsmost the time. And, because pitch adjustis in % not bpm, it makes sense to ride the pitch in very minute detail, and analog pitch is perfect for this skill. Analog pitch is less 'steppy'. I really dislike the digital controlled pitch idea. Yeah these decks should be fine with serato, but i may have issues with my vinyl collection. Im off to buy some tomorrow. And if they mix ok ill keep them. I dont really know how good or bad they are yet. But i will let people know

I've waited on buying the MK7 due to the pitch dead zones - curious if they ever figured it out? Or if the new ones in 2021 are still having the same issues?
