Thang is zombies slow you down like a 20% when they hit you, might be wrong in that. imho pacing is fine, but maps are too short and makes the downtime between points even more painful

The card selection is not random. The cards you are given to choose from, appear in the order you set them up in your "deck" I always started EVERY game with the Bonus money + Combat Knife perks.

Well actually it is. The first perk you pick you always gonna have it active but that also means that you can't pick that more than once to increase the effectiveness. You could build a deck with 5 cards and that way it will never be random but that way you're also greatly limiting your perks.

@@VerGiLL1 No it is NOT random. It always appear in order. #1 card is automatically activated. Then #2-#6 card show up for you to pick. Then the second time you pick a card #7 will be added in. And so on.

I'll have to leave this for maybe 3 months until after this is out. I want to see what bullshit they'll add after it's released. Also I hate that card system. It really takes away the tense horror type feel of the game

@@intellectic9155 He does understand it; Most by now understands it. It's to add mtx's / loot box mechanics into the game after reviews are done or after a month. This is the same company that made Evolve and put 100 DLC's into; Ran by Warner Brothers. I was excited by this game but not anymore.

Left 4 Dead was never about horror. It was about working flawlessly as a squad to defeat the level. Cards only increase the strategy setup you can go in with. Did so many builds it was great.

Left 4 Dead didn't have ADS because the weapons had ADS-accurate hip-fire. The movement speed was fast so you had to fire on-the-move. It was very much like the intro cinematic... Back 4 Blood looks very different in that regard.

No mods, no campaign pvp, heavily monetize (seems like they're doing another evolve, but not as bad), AI is completely garbage and the game is near impissble to play on higher settings solo, always online, because bots packages are so bad solo play will be very limited (is marketed to solo players), Very buggy experience ( Xbox series X, seems better on PC) etc. So no. Solid foundation there but i'm worried for launch and post launch support

After playing beta I was thoroughly puzzled by how the melee feels down right bad too. You can't push either like l4d or vermintide and to top it off .. melee does friendly fire! I feel like this could get changed but if anyone ever played these games you'd know quite easily why FF on melee is a horrible idea. FF is just so easy on this game.

@BzakeImagine complaining a game is bad? not hard to, played plenty of bad games. As well No where I stated the game was bad, So don't get too salty defending your company. It's clear you never played L4D above the normal difficulty and failed to grasp the point. Not mentioning my AI companion got stuck and wouldn't move so we had to restart the whole section again.

And I was just playing the console version with my friend doing the realism achievements Spoiler Alert. The game still holds up the very same As well if the base game was bad, mods wouldn't matter. People wouldn't be playing it, wouldn't invest their time. It was built upon, not fixed. As well it was special, nothing like it on the market when it was released. Still isn't. Why it's still played to this day, Mods or no mods

@Bzake Nostalgia ? Bruh I finished all campaigns of L4D1/2 last month with no mods at all and this game did nothing to improve the formula. In fact the technical aspects AI and overall design of the game seems like a step down. The game lacks what makes L4D truly shine, the director.

The game is releasing too early, it's an unfinished buggy mess with tons of design issues. They're also pushing online only, no mod support, microtransactions, locking maps behind paywalls, season passes while trying to charge $60-$90 for 1 copy of the game, a game that is awful to play with randoms and with bots. I know it's become a meme to call a game another Evolve, but this is coming from the same studio that made Evolve... and it's just as bad.

I also got Early Access to the Open Beta (which official start is at the 12th August) and played many hours already. I really like that you can adjust and improve your weapons. I also dislike the types of zombies. The ones you have now aren't "good". I miss the witch the most as well as the one that pulls you far back (because that makes your team look and most of the time walk back (into the group of zombies) just to save you. I also dislike the card system. Maybe it isn't active yet but I don't feel any difference (with or without a given card). And what I absolutely hate are the post-screens. First they show you four characters and some random stats (like amount of zombies killed or items collected or so on), then they show you some more stats and you need to click ready (or you have a 30 second timer), then they show you two cards (you can't select from - still haven't figured out what they are for) and then they show you your deck and you can chose a card. And then you're back in the safe house but before you can buy and improve your weapons you have to wait for every player "being here" (as in "reconnected" to the server). Oh and if you don't have friends to play with ... matchmaking is pure horror. And the one thing that kills the whole game for me is that you lose everything you achieved if you run out of retries. You lose how you've modded your weapons, what weapons you've chosen, the copper you have to collect to improve as well as the other resource you need. You have to start a "new game" and you have to do everything again. Oh, and if you wish you help a friend or jump into a quick game ... you don't have your weapon layout and mods but nothing expect your characters iconic weapon. It would make much more sense to me if you should "level up" (improving weapons / card deck) each of the characters so that you never have to "play naked" in case you play in someone else's playthrough. But as it is now, I don't have much interest in "perfecting" my weapon because it's gone when I play a different playthrough or a new one or (I assume) the next story.

I love the card system, the only things I personally think they need to fix is bot ai, and allowing you to drop attachments Also there are more zombie types in the beta if you played on a higher difficulty.

I think the game has potential. I like the weapon customization and the card system is kind of interesting. The biggest problem I had was that the gunplay just doesn't feel good to me. The aim assist is obnoxious when turned on and then the aiming feels terrible with it off.

I honestly believe the "Cleaners" (which is a god-awful name! it sounds like you're going in there Viscera Clean-up Detail style), they have ZERO urgancy about the situation, all they ever do is spout jokes and treat it as if their on a theme park attraction. Oh they have to urgently make a mad sprint for their lives? Holly: "Pew Pew!", it's like they have a serious case of aspergers and Evangelo's quote of "wait till I get more bullets in my gun" really reminds me of Liam from Mass Effect: Andromeda, it just sucks out atmosphere like a black hole.

with griefers being such a major problem in gaming, co-op games especially, I'm disappointed devs really don't think friendly fire is at all even a slight problem, especially if they crank the damage on higher difficulties, and just having some shitty kick system to discourage griefers doesn't really do much but slow them down at best, still gives everyone else who has to deal with them a hell of a time not being to enjoy the game much

i dont get the whole zombie fatigue thing reviewers keep mentioning with the amount of games being released the zombie games are just a drop in the bucket. granted, we could use some better games related to werewolves and vampires. tho the vampire side of things should finally get a decent release with the new br and the new masquerade.

I played a run of it, one campaign on "Survivor" with a friend and two rando's. All of us on PC. Game was legit. It's the L4D sequel I never knew I wanted, but...our two rando's dropped halfway and we had the AI bots for a bit, they were fucking terrible. They need to NOT shoot you at all. Friendly fire was a joke. If we were on a harder difficulty it would be a wipe every 2 minutes. Other than that, game was hella fun.

It may be looking like a decent - good game but the stuff the devs are doing already have completely killed my interest in this. Online all the time? So much content locked away into the other deluxe editions? And the season pass immediately on launch as well? No mods? I'll just wait for Darktide. That looks much more promising than this.

Okay, how about the special zombies being generic unlike L4D specials where they had special sound cues and animations? Guns being generic, all of them being the same but in L4D all the guns have a specific purpose. If this game is a L4D spiritual successor then it is regressing what made and makes L4D amazing and great to this day.

I couldn’t stand the game, we played on the second hardest difficulty, got through everything pretty easily. The game has no flavor at all, the AI is god awful and the cars system is just fluff. The game isn’t scary either, it relies on dim lit maps to instill fear when in LDR2 you could be panicking in the middle of the day on a claustrophobic bridge. I was pretty disappointed

@@bigchungus7050 I think the special infected in L4D gave the game a constant dread, or unease. Because you never knew where they'd appear or strike from. "Scary" is perhaps not the right word. Tension, maybe.

I disagree with the weapons feeling good. They sound awful and cheap to me and there is no impact because the gore and zombie animations are worse than the og left 4 dead which surprised me. Hopefully they improve on that for the full release

Yep. They sound terrible and the actual aiming and shooting feels awful. Aim assist is obnoxiously strong when turned on and then the aiming feels clunky with it turned off.

"Zombie fatigue?" That makes zero sense. Nobody talks about FPS fatigue when COD or Apex Legends or Doom come out. Zombies are essentially dumber enemies with different skins. The problem is not zombie games - it's mediocre zombie games.

@@zeikers Not the same at all. To use your example, you don't call Skyrim "a dragon game," even though they're the primary protagonist. Zombie games are a sub genre of whatever game type they actually are - The Walking Dead is an multi-choice adventure game, WWZ is a horde mode FPS, State of Decay is an open world survival game, Dead Age is an RPG, Deadlight is a side scrolling puzzle platformer. The only commonality is zombies, other than that they are completely different genres.

It's fun for a few hours but it gets bland fast and the pvp is not helping at all. Bad AI, Can't tell the special zombies apart from their different versions, some maps are short, They went with VS survival over Vs Campaign like wtf?. It's okay but not enough to be equal to l4d.

Game will bomb on consoles. Horrendous aiming, terrible controls, no FOV slider and the default FOV has to be like 30 degrees. Just play Vermintide 2, it's the best this genre has to offer. If you MUST have zombies, play WWZ -- it's the Burger King of zombie games, but still better than Back 4 Blood.

So the "spiritual successor" to L4D is always-online, live-service trash with mods disabled and a "card" system like EA Battlefront 2 that TOTALLY won't be monetized. Oh... and it's made by the same company whose last always-online game, namely Evolve, is now dead and unplayable. Pass.

I’m sorry but for $89.95 AUD, i’m going to need a whole lot more than what this game seems to be offering in it’s full release. What it looks like we’ve got here is a slightly better in some areas and worse in some areas version of Left 4 Dead, with no campaign pvp on the horizon so far, no mod support, always online requirements and what looks to be future monetisation up the wazoo. I’d pick it up for $30, but not $89.95 lol. I understand that this is your lads opinion, but I’m not sure how you can sit there and honestly say that this game feels ready….. from what a lot of players have said and from what gameplay i’ve seen, it looks like it needs another year of development and polish.

I think its an awesome system except the menu popping up takes too long in-between rounds. It must be streamlines. I loved the knife instead of the bash card and the 2hp per knife i love that shit

You guys are often right on the money. Not this time. I'm fairly certain this game will crash and burn. It feels arcady. No atmosphere to speak of. Clunky animations, like the WWZ game in that regard. Too much gore -- a zombie head apparantly holds 10 gallons of blood -- and the guns sound like the crushing of a beer can. Maps are ridiculously short/small. I ran through a map in 3 minutes yesterday, because I was in a hurry IRL.

- The shooting feels underwhelming - enemies are no interesting - AI is bad - the card system is bad and it smells like potentially future Microtransactions BS. - similar to L4D but in a good way. It feels like copy-paste on a lot of things. As they said, lacks personality. - i never felt scared or tense. Which L4D had a lot.

Wow... why do all the other YT channels disagree? I didn't enjoy L4D or L4D2 at all and I had a fucking BLAST playing this. It actually requires thought and teamwork. You even need to have a plan on the hardest difficulties. B4B outstrips L4D in every way. The only worry I have is MTX. Hopefully they aren't predatory.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills hearing some people talk about this game lol. I feel as though its a big step back from the original Left 4 Dead in almost every way. The card system is done in such a way I don't trust Turtle Rock (which most of the people involved with L4D specifically have left) to not monetize the hell out of it like they tried to with Evolve. I also think the cards are going to be less of an interesting add and more of a necessity to play on higher difficulties given how unbalanced the higher difficulties are at the moment. You don't even have a shove mechanic anymore.

It shouldn't just measure up, it should surpass. This game essentially tries to be just like L4D with a fresh coat of paint and it needs to do a lot to justify its existence and to give reason to play it over L4D2, especially when that game is cheaper and has a lot of mods to toy around with atm.
