Ya know as a kid back in the 60's my grandpa had a home on the blue river, in NE. He would come sit with me while I fished and tell me stories and I caught Carp and bullheads , catfish and giant snapping turtles. You want a good fight and watch a kids eyes light up stick a 10 pd carp on the line the games on. So teach a kid the excitement of a fish battle and he's hooked as well as the fish.
Those carp are going to ruin catfishing for you. Did for me. Not complaining, they are just so much more fun than catfish. Plus, the bait doesn't make your hands stink like dead fish. 😁 Might be time to get a yoga mat to lay those fish on while unhooking.
100% enjoy the crap video! I'm a huge midwest crap fisher. Which is not crazy popular here... But they fight harder than any cat their size. The frustration is they pop off so much. Let them run on their owb and u only have to left up.
No sir corn 🌽 on the hook is the best carp I've caught I've got 20 to 30 lb carp Tennessee River boat or holston River is a great spot to catch big gollywhopper!! 😆 carp
Love the carp videos! I'm a die hard cat angler , the last few years I've updated my carp gear! Do alot more often. Got a rod pod with bite alarms, hair rigs, boilles, etc. Exploring into the European style of carp fishing, and loving it. I think I've watched every one of your videos multiple times. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next video!
@@KayakCatfish ah, I carp fish a lot and every time I land a catfish. I use the same dough bait recipe and blue cats love it. It’s fairly common for them to get wrapped up in the lines for some reason.
I got all the way through 3D printing a method feeder and embedding the weights before I looked closer at my state's fishing regulations and realized it'd be considered "chumming" and so was illegal.
In your early carp fishing videos, you were using cattle feed cubes to chum your areas. They make a bait slingshot, or catapult asthe Brits call them, that you can send these sweet feed cubes out to chum the area around your baits. Give that a try. The slingshot will save your shoulder from potential injury.
Your previous videos convinced me that I did not need special rigs to catch carp. I have good luck with just corn. I will keep watching to see how your experiments work out for you.
We have fished for years with no pack bait or hair rig. Just a 4-6 hook with a few kernels just like you did the first few times. Loose drag bc of the soft lip and never had a problem with hook up or coming off
@@BitesandStrikesFishing awesome bro sorry for the typo that is amazing they are very beautiful and majestic looking if you ask me that's my opinion on the fish and they're very great eating if you cook them right
They don't drive on the wrong side of the road in England! You have to understand our roads in the United States run from North to South and East to West but in England their roads run from West to East and South to North so if they drove on the side of the road we do and lets say they are going to the pub and they drove on the same side of the road we do they would never get to their destination because they would end up where they started because their roads run bassackwards. Try boiling bird seed and field corn and chumming with that. Cube feed for horses works as a good chum to.
You are going into a new world of carp fishing, carp of 40 50 and 60 Ib+,look on u-tube and you will blow your mind with what we get up to in the UK GREAT VIDEOS REALLY ENJOY THEM
Easy carp bait for lake fishing, Oats with coconut water as a binder, use like one or two corn pops on a size four hook. Wrap the oats around the corn pops boom done
Awesome to see someone else with the fever man, we had a tough day today as well but we did put one on the bank and had more opportunities. Anyway good stuff man keep it coming and catch a 30.
Hey a good bait I use for carp Is peanut butter ote mile k row serip mix in a bowl and just make doe balls it works great it works a lot better the the strawberry pack bait
If you are using the buoyant Enterprise sweetcorn, two pieces might be enough to cause the rig to float the full length of the hooklink (6+”) right off the method lead. Generally, you want the hook to be 2” or less off the bottom. Check your rig in the margins and ensure it isn’t floating too high. I tend to use one piece of the Enterprise sweetcorn (I like the new large size) and mount it vertically through the kernel. This makes it look a bit more substantial on the hair than mounting through the thin side of the kernel, when only using one. I like the buoyancy of the fake sweetcorn to offset the weight of the hook, but still stay on the bottom. Being closer to neutrally buoyant makes it easier for the fish to suck up the rig. If you want to experiment with having the hook bait “popped up” try putting a small split shot 1-2” from the hook. Changing things slightly could lead to catching carp that may pass over other bait presentations. With that said, carp in the US see nearly zero pressure, so you don’t need all the tricks used in the UK and Europe. At some point you might want to try swapping the panko over to oats. Paylakers tend to see panko/grits as an early season bait and transition to oats in the May/June timeframe. You can use old fashioned oats from the grocery store, or get a 50lb bag of steam rolled oats from a feed store.
Gotta tell you Justin, I bet your family is so proud of you for finding a way to make money while living your life. After watching you catch big Carp and big Catfish and me remembering the days I could enjoy the fight of a Big Carp. All this old man can say is keep on Fishing and I'll keep on watching ☺️
Thank you for the carp fishing videos. My kids and I love carp fishing. We used to watch Catfish and Carp, but Luke has posted a video in months. Keep up the great videos.
Love to see your progression into carp fishing. I discovered these glorious golden fish around 5 years ago and barely want to fish for anything else anymore. Went today and caught 11, they were on fire! I remember when you discovered carp, I shared your video with a lot of people, carp fisherman and haters. Love to see you using pack bait and method feeders! I've tried many many types of pretied and self tried hair rigs and landed on the exact ones you showed, same size and brand, definitely perfect for this technique and I like them shorter. Love to see more people appreciating these despised, misunderstood, glorious fish. Btw yes hair rigs are superior to bare hooks. You'll gain confidence in them I'm sure! The fake corn is great as well, you just need to gain confidence, you'll see! Welcome to the club, there are dozens of us in the US haha Great videos man.
I grew up catching carp in Michigan. Wasn’t uncommon to catch fish over 30 pounds. Saginaw Bay in May when they spawn is the best advice I can give for anyone looking to catch giants. Fish 50+ are possible
Referring to that 1st missed fish, I stopped using braid mainline for carp. Carp have extremely soft mouths and I have found that the stretch in mono allows for better "cushion" when fighting fish. I used to pull hooks a lot, and don't have that problem after the switch. I still use braid to tie hair rig leaders though. Normally fish 17lb or 25lb (depending on the rod setup) mono mainline for carp.
They're outstanding smoked. Great meat full of healthy fat (oleic acid), but you gotta get them from clean water. Absolutely delicious, my mouth is watering.
I once caught a muskrat (in the mouth ) while carp fishing with corn . I imagine a beaver would probably eat corn also as they are rodents. You don't wanna hook a beaver .
Ya know, you could use a couple of pins to hold that kayak in place. Might work. Liking the new rod and reel set up. 👌 I am thinking about one of those original Chop Stix for my next kitty rod. I'll have to see where I have carp around here. They look like a lot of fun!
Well I'm going to watch this video again just for an extra view hopefully. I kinda think putting the corn on the hook makes more sense to me also. Never heard or seen the hair rig until then
I use 0kuma bait feeder reels so the carp can run a ways and turn the hook in their mouth before you set the hook. It improves your hook up ratio. Really enjoy your carp videos. My second favorite fish to catch next to cats.
The best corn to use is feed corn. Its extremely cheap and tougher than sweet corn. Just have to boil it to make it soft enough to get a hook through. You should try it. I think you'll like it a lot better than sweet corn.
The hair rig is a hit and miss. I've always done better with the corn on the hook, but the bait lead is a good ideal. I just do it old school like u started with, chum the water and throw a hook with corn on it in the middle of it.
