I have been using the one-gallon size clear zip lock bags successfully on angled car oil filters. For Craftsman riding mower, use folded aluminum foil for motor oil drainage. Thanks for the video!

I just take a punch and punch a small hole in the bottom or lowest point of the oil filter and let er drain into the drain pan. All the oil in the filter and filter lines drain out and there's no oil left to drain down the side.

It works on Gen 3 ("LS") and later GM small block V8s that have the vertical filter because, well, gravity. I can't see it working on a horizontal filter unless it's small enough to fit all the way in the cup.

I’ve always punched a hole at the lowest point. I’ve beendoing it for years on Cummins road tractors with twin LF 670 oil filters. Not easy to do on a Horizontal F150 without a long enough punch.

Have you ever seen those pieces of rubber that are formable you can make funnel out of them I found they worked pretty good because you can funnel the oil down and into the pan the minute you crack it open and less of a mess my lawnmower is that way it’s straight from the side and that’s what I use on. It works pretty well.

Smaller filters will probably work better because there will be more space between the cup and filter.

I use a gatoraid jug cut just for this.. it's bigger..the filters that aer side waysbe prepared for a mess..

Nothing works with a mower, always a little mess to clean up. I never prefill filters unless they are vertical. What do you do about prefilling?
