Thank you for talking about Sam and for still posting an episode. This is a time to decompress from the week but also a place to heal, now more so than before 💜
I’m replying to the pinned comment in hope people will read and listen! I’m U.K. based and we have a major Rock festival here called Download. I have been multiple years. I lost a tooth one year and my bestie broke her nose where we were at the front of the stage and passed out people were being pulled out by bouncers-we were both kicked in the head accidentally by there poor passed out teens. I have been one year and people were throwing piss at a band trying to tell someone to get down from the rafters in one of the secondary like tented stages. I have passed out on a ride under the influence and underage I might add as people were chanting to the ride supervisor to go harder and faster. Tents stolen, set on fire on the last day, trampled, trashed etc. I have also seen clothes ripped off in the mosh pits, my own vest was ripped from my body one year. My friend lost her converse in the mud and had to bend down to get it…I remember asking a couple of people around us to lean back in unison so she could vent to get it! At the time 14-18 I would say it was cool and funny and “rock’n’roll”. It was none of those things looking back! Bare in mind also alternative fashions include lots of tight clothing like corsets and worse baggy clothing that can get caught around people’s necks and again worse studded belts, steel toe capped shoes, chains-weapons basically. Manny’s advice is really good, even better advice would be to go to more intimate concerts and gigs where chains and things are confiscated and people are drug checked, mosh pits are of a smaller scale, better ambulance to goer ratios. Stay safe people! 💜
Definitely canceling is the wrong word for this situation he needs to be held accountable and needs to pay for the violence he encourages yes it’s true that no one can truly 100% control their fan base but the artist sets the tone for the fans they follow the lead of the artist especially at concerts yeah some fans get rowdy and out of control but it has been shown that in those cases either the artist puts a stop to it themselves if they see it happening or they’re in a controlled and manageable environment for the security to be able to come and put a stop to whatever’s going on but in this case there were way too many people for it to be a manageable controlled environment and it ended up being a nightmare of a show and the only people at fault is the festival planners for not insisting on there being a limit of people and enforcing that limit and for not hiring enough security and medical personnel that were adequately trained and prepared and it’s Travis’s fault himself because it was his even and his name was on the headline and it happened during his performance and he encouraged it so I believe he shouldn’t be able to hold live events ever again especially if they’re gonna be that big because he doesn’t seem to care about the peoples safety enough and that’s just my hot take
@@SamanthaD89 his team organized the festival and live nation was the promoter. It’s his festival with his name on it, and worse thing the largest loss of life happened on his set.
As a metal head, i can tell you that people at metal concerts take care of each other. And the band watches the crowd. Yes the pits are fun, but people pick each other up- this is rule number 1 as a crowd member at a rock concert.
This!!! One time I got pushed into a mosh pit and I was helped so I could get out of it. After everyone was so nice to me. I have never felt more safe than being at a metal concert. The community is amazing and respectful.
My son attended the Travis show. And it left him traumatized, he was overwhelmed helping ppl out that were getting trampled on, that he got scared and was able to leave. He is seeing a Therapist rn Rip to those who lost there lives🙏 so yes Travis needs to be held accountable so do others..
I'm sorry that your son had to experience that and glad that he's getting professional help to deal with what must have been a traumatic evening for him. My condolences go out to him, all those who were there and those who lost their lives
My nephew wanted to go and his parents said no. Then all of this happened. Our youth can’t even enjoy a concert/festival because of this now being on everyone’s mind. The moment those barricades were bombarded, it should have been cancelled.
Just want to say something about grief. My mom died 20 years ago. I was 5 years old, I have lived 80% of my life without my mother, and I have completely processed and accepted her death. But there are still nights where I’m laying in bed and I cry because I miss her, because I’m upset she missed something, because I have questions and feel like I need her. Grief never stops. It only ebbs and flows.
💜☮️💐 I'm so sorry for your loss! That must of been extremely hard 😔 I fear this for my Nephew and Niece as my big Brother took his own life last year just before Halloween 2020 and when they start to understand more about what actually happened to their Dad! I'm so sorry for your loss and just know that you are such a strong person to have gone through this 💐☮️💜 love and peace
I didn't even know her Mom had passed so when she said it. I was shocked. I couldn't help crying. I'll never forget the episode with her talking about Laura's pretty red lipstick and beautiful lips. You could see how proud she was of her Daughter. It was so wonderful and heartwarming to see. If you see this comment Laura, I'm so sorry for your devastating loss. I haven't lost a parent yet, but I'm fourty so I have to accept with the age of my parents. It will be coming for me as well and I hate the way the circle of life works sometimes. I truly do. I know she was so proud of Laura and because of Laura she was able to leave this Earth in peace knowing her family is taken care of because Laura has got everyone covered. Such an amazing woman Laura is. 💜
As a raver who’s been to plenty insomniac events i could say that i’ve seen PLENTY mosh pits, wall of deaths, and not once have a seen anyone continue the pits if theres someone on the ground. As much as travis is to blame so is the crowd. Like you must be extremely heartless to see people on the floor passed out, asking for helo etc etc and think its ok to step over them and what not
Forreal, that's what is blowing my mind about this whole situation..I don't understand how someone could see another person being trampled and the only thought in their mind is to just keep it moving cuz they just HAVE to see the guy up close. The amount of people who did that is just..sickening.
I was just about to comment this. It’s about holding eachother accountable and looking out for one another. Things like this should NEVER happen and Is completely preventable :(
Travis during this concert literally said "I WANT TO FEEL THE GROUND SHAKE" right after he saw someone pass out. He definitely encouraged this behavior
that comment is HAUNTING me i think about it all the time, how terrible that had to have been for those people that were on the ground suffocating already and then hearing him say that??? ugh those poor poor kids. my heart is shattered i really really really hope they get the best help there is available. thousands of people traumatized.
@@jaelyn1630 it’s haunting me as well. Along with the video of the young man laughing in the background saying “ ole boy been dead for like 5 songs now “. I’ve never used the word demonic in my life, until now. That comment about making the ground shake has sent chills down my spine. He was LITERALLY ASKING the crowd to stomp on people. He was basically saying “ if you haven’t killed em yet, nows your chance “.
Honestly, I think jail time is in order. He has been reprimanded and sued before and now 9 people are dead with others still in critical condition. Something more needs to be done.
@@marciamarciamarcia3117 something does need to be done but there is paperwork going around showing there were only 2 people who could stop the show and neither of them was Travis. I think we should wait until the all information is out in the open before saying it’s 100% his fault. I think this was the result of multiple people failing to do their job.
@@SamanthaD89 She he was not even able to say during performing that he wants to pause show to see what is going on? Doubt it. He saw the ambulance, there were people right in front him in front getting trampled trying to get out.
I feel the same on this one. Only because I’m an og punk and candy racer ( and pre-pandemic, I three safer spaces events). He has caused far too much harm and he claims no responsibility, nor accountability... so, for that, he needs a good, long time out.
As a metal fan myself where people mosh at literally every concert, I have never seen anything get out of hand. If someone goes down, they’re immediately pulled up by several people, and everyone always makes sure they’re ok. Even at festivals the behaviour’s like this. And if anyone can drink beer it’s metal people, so people are drunk, but still help each other and encourage nice behaviour
Metal heads would tell you the #1 rule in a mosh pit is that if someone goes down it doesn't matter who they are, if you know them or not, etc.. is that you and the other immediate person/people around them yank them up by their shirt and get them back going. If Travis wanted to establish this kind of "culture" at his shows, he also needs to let people know the "rules" that have prevented things like this happening at metal shows for years.
Yup. There's a reason mosh pit rules exist. Theres times where things get out of hand but the bands will stop the show and give people an ear full and threaten to end the whole show if the crowd doesnt calm down and follow the rules.
So he's supposed 2 come off stage after stoppin show multiple times. 2 tell ppl 2 not trample on other humans. Wtf. Where's their responsibility???? At some point?
@@yasminenoble2117 he should of stop say “calm down or Were stoping the show . Everyone step 2 steps back fucking relax we are here to have a good time “ my husband and i been to so many rock concerts that do mosh pits they help each other out !
The fact that Travis saw someone passed out, and didn’t care to ask if that person made it home alive before going to Dave and busters. That whole family makes me sick.
Manny's tips about what to do when drowning in a crowd are really good. I was once in that situation at Warped Tour and the air was so heavy, I managed to get out but it was pretty terrifying.
I agree that security needed to be upped at this event. However, when an artist incites a riot... it's quite literally impossible to stop an avalanche of people from breaking barricades. I do think that the fault falls mostly on Travis Scott. He asked for crazy and wild... people died because of it... and now the best he can do is post an "apology" video on social media and pass the ball over to his lawyers. He 100% deserves to get cancelled
He didn't even look at the camera with his apology, he kept his eyes closed..wtf?? He couldn't even look at it with his eyes open. He doesn't give a shit.
Travis is done with concerts at the very least. No venue will be willing to take on the liability of hosting him. I think the most chilling moment for me is a video where he’s saying “middle fingers in the air” “f God” all while people are dead and dying.🥺
He said put your middle fingers in the sky if your okay.. he was checking on the crowd. He had no idea things was getting out of control. He is human dealing with 50k people. He can't see everything
@@harison7778 I watched this particular video multiple time but no matter he won’t see the light of a stage again. His history of inciting this behavior makes him poisonous to the industry. Hell he still has one person in litigation who fell off a balcony.
@@spoonlessvalkyrie7514 yeah he does have a history and that might come back to hunt him. He hasn't repeated any of them mistakes tho since 2017. That incident when the dude fell of from the balcony was pushed off by someone. So travis was not directly responsible.
Livenation 100000% needs to be held accountable. A security guard at the show was interviewed and said he was hired despite the fact that he had no guard card ID, had never attended a concert before and had never been security before. Travis needs to be held accountable for not being more aware/or not caring and not stopping the show. But definitely the blame needs to go to livenation too. There should have been protocols for safety. Also it's bum rush, not bomb rush lol. Love you guys.
No amount of security would have been able to handle a crowd of people, thousands of people, rushing their way. Yes LiveNation needs to be held accountable but he was in front of all those people performing and not caring. All that needed to happen was to have him stop and tell the audience to calm down. He encourages violent behavior at his shows
@@liciaboo8539 I totally agree with you! I'm sorry if my comment made it seem like Travis shouldn't get the blame. He definitely does too, all the clips of other artists stopping the show prove that it can be done. My comment was just because Laura and Manny brought up Livenation being responsible too or not, it seemed with the baracades they set up it was not safe for a crowd like that and there should have been more safety protocols in place.
this. the second this event was held the first time, an annual security staff should have been formed, PLUS houston officers being present, plus the venue staff. people who knew the rules, knew the plans, and were qualified. randomly hiring just cause unqualified people to apply to get paid to go to a concert. heartbreaking event
I went to a Kehlani concert here in SF & she stopped the show when someone got dehydrated and even told her crew to give her a water. After she started asking if anyone needed water, handed out small water bottles and continued after. She said if anyone needs water please raise your phone in the air and ppl around them help point them out.
You can't compare travis scott with kehlani. Travis is dealing with 50k people. You think he can spot someone in distress in a crowd of 50k? It's not that easy. Kehlani in other hands....
@@Kaeshana her venue size is small which makes it easier to spot someone someone is in distress. Travis scott is looking down at a sea of ppl all squished in. Which makes hard to pinpoint people who need help when over 90% of the attendees are having fun. He can't see ppl getting trampled in the back when there's ppl right infront of them blocking the view.
My daughter went and she was traumatized. She said there was no coverage to use their phones. She also asked for help by a cop and they told her to go away. She was having a panic attack because she couldn't get a hold of her step-dad or me. She attended it by herself because no one else could afford a ticket. I'm so glad she's home and Thank God she didn't get hurt.
That fact that your daughter went by herself just tells me she is a free spirit bc I could never . I PRAY she doesn’t lose that and her mental is okay ! So glad she was able to make it back home safely.
@@SydneyLove0496 this was her 1st time to go anywhere alone. She has been working on herself and doesn't want her mental illness to be a crutch. I was texting her every hour. When she finally was able to call she was walking to a store so she can wait for dad to pick her up. I could how anxious she was just by her voice. She has social anxiety and a list of mental illnesses. She Is resilient and is working hard! She is my free spirit unique baby girl. She just turned 20.
Im glad your daughter is ok. But idk if I'd let an 18 year old go somewhere like that alone, let alone younger. Im not sure how old your daughter is. But shit is too risky now a days. Look at all the sex trafficking and everything else. I understand that kids need to experiment and grow. But I'd never leave a child go somewhere alone like that.
@@SaS0367 was this comment really necessary? Something traumatic already happened to her daughter , why try to make her feel worse? Do whatever you want with your daughter and she’ll continue to do the same.
I’ve seen videos of people saying he “stopped” the show when someone passed out but continued before medics even assessed the person thoroughly. It’s negligence and greed on his part.
I don't know about "stopped", I mean in the videos he is just not singing/rapping and just watching, he could've encourage people to relax a bit, to get them to open the crowd so they could get the people out, or he could've asked how the crowd was doing even if he didn't care about the answer
@@anubisthacutest4752 Yeah people really are "reaching" and "doing too much with this situation." I wonder if the families who lost their loved ones would agree with you... How about his fans take their blinders off and see this "situation" for what it really is? He has a history of inciting and encouraging really dangerous behavior. Encouraging people to overpower security to rush the stage, to climb over barriers, to jump from balconies, inciting riots, encouraging people to rush and bypass security gates at the entrance. What if someone, or multiple people, had brought in a weapon/s from getting past the metal detectors at the security gates at the entrance??? With his history it was always going to end badly at one of his concerts...in tragedy. It was only a matter of time. And here we are. Am I still "reaching?" Am I still "doing too much?" Or was Travis Barker maybe "doing too much" STUPID & DANGEROUS SHIT!? Was it worth it Travis? Travis stop deleting posts, Kylie you too, stop putting filters on your "apology" video. And I hope going to Dave & Busters afterwards was sooo much fun. PLEASE NEVER EVER hold another concert. REST IN PEACE to the 9 people who lost their lives.
What I find really odd is that how did Travis and Kylie (and the rest of their team) not know about the deaths until the next morning? They literally went to an after party after the concert. There’s many videos of Travis seeing a dead body being carried away in front of him while he continued to sing.. I don’t believe they didn’t know about the deaths until the next morning. Which makes the situation a lot worse.
Right. I call BS on that, it was cut short by 30min??? When they finally forced him to stop. Like your telling me none of them asked why and they were clueless until the next morning n thy seen it on social media??
Kylie, Kendall and everyone in their entourage were evacuated during the concert. Concert goers nearby recorded it. Very easy to confirm. Of course they knew and their behavior since is disgusting.
@@LysetteOne EXACTLY! They knew it was too dangerous for his family but didn’t think anyone else could be hurt? I am 57 so I remember The Who concert where 11 people died. That concert was the reason that at rock concerts from then on the crowd looked after each other! Bigger guys would form a circle around the kids and girls and hold their ground. If anyone went down, people around them got them to safety. KISS hired people as spotters and placed them all around in the crowd with radios that went directly to the crew so if things started getting out of control at all, they stopped the show and Paul Stanley was very vocal about not continuing unless people chilled out!
First, I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a loved one is unbelievably hard..and second yes, he should be held accountable and not allowed to let this happen again..love you both..💔..
I have been to Warped Tour so many times, been in plenty of mosh pits & I’ve never seen anything like that at any of those shows. There is an etiquette with this, you fall down & people help you up. I’m 33 and I’ve never felt unsafe at any of those shows. The issue now is that everyone wants to go viral. They are so fast to pull out their phones and record something, instead of helping people. Humanity is lost with this generation.
At warped tour, I’ve always experienced the artists stopping their set to tell the crowd to settle down or they won’t be finishing the set. I agree with everything you said. I never felt unsafe at warped, the first time I went I was 13. Came home safe and without a single scratch
I’m a young widow and I know grief is hard and real. One word of advice- please change the phrase “moving on” to “moving forward” because it feels a lot different for the people in grief. Moving on feels like you want us to forget our loved ones and moving forward means that we will keep going with our loved ones in our heart. 💕💕💕
This has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts! I love that Laura and Manny don’t just talk about the beauty community! They really deep dive into current topics and I’m livinggg
Thank you for speaking about it. Seems like a lot of makeup influencers don’t want to speak about it because they don’t want to lose the PR with the Kardashians/Jenners 😬
I lost my closest friend (since we were toddlers) in April. From my experience, the grief has lingered on longer than I ever thought it would. However, I now view grieving as honoring her. It’s the time where I only think about her, as is we were visiting one on one. It’s not filled with as much laughter as our visits were, but it’s still a time dedicated to her :)
So I’ve been to dozens of metal shows of all sizes and I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that happening at the shows I’ve been to. It’s crazy and it’s honestly just a different vibe. There are safe ways to mosh, crowd surf, dance, and even stage dive. Hell, I’ve been in walls of death that are hundreds of feet long and been safer than those poor kids at Astroworld. What happened in Astroworld was 100% avoidable and I do feel like Travis Scott holds some responsibility.
I dont see how he is at fault at all. Ive been going to metal shows my whole life too. We are responsible for our actions not the artist that we came to see .
People were climbing the equipment yelling stop the show “they are dead” how the hell could he not know! It’s the few bad eggs that ruin it for everyone. The crowd rushed the entrance knocking over the metal detectors and rushing in. People believe they are above the law.
tbh i dont even think there’s any “bad eggs”. travis is the one who encouraged people breaking in, he tweeted it and even included footage of it in his promotion video. there’s a reason this doesn’t happen at every concert... travis like any other artist is able to manage the crowd. he has continued to create an unsafe environment for his fans time and time again. this wasn’t the crowds fault in anyway. yes there are always people who ruin things for everyone else (like the people jumping on the ambulance) but the artist is able to control them. travis easily could’ve stopped the show when he saw fans were literally jumping on emergency vehicles, but he didn’t. like you said, travis and everyone involved are responsible, this could’ve been prevented.
When I was 14 I went to a slipknot concert and somehow accidently joined a mosh pit and started freaking out. Everybody stopped and helped me find my way out and gave me water. People are fast to bash rock and metal bands, but if you take one minute to look up videos, you will see that the crowd takes care of each other and the band will stop their shows in a heartbeat if they see someone getting hurt.
Sam was the greatest of all time, her content is legendary on all platforms. She was the OG truth seeker & speaker. She also had the best sense of humor. I’m so heartbroken as a “fan”/subscriber of her, I cannot imagine what you & those who were close to her are feeling. Thoughts & prayers to you guys & all of her friends & family. Love you Sam & love you Laura & Manny.🖤🖤🖤🖤
I definitely disagree about Kylie not getting canceled. I personally think she is just as at fault as Travis. If anything, she can definitely see more than Travis, since he is performing. That’s just my opinion. I think both should be canceled. If she recorded it, she saw it.
"Cancel" is too light of a word to describe the Travis Scott situation. This is a grown man who needs to be held accountable legally, whether that be to be sued and pay millions of dollars or going to jail. He is responsible for the lives of dozens of ppl including children
I keep watching so many videos taken during the concert and updates on the fatalities and injuries. There was another fatality announced today. The youngest injured so far I have seen is a 9 year old in an induced coma. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by this. I hope they keep investigating and this absolute tragedy brings to light further safety precautions going forward. No one should lose their life this way or families worried a loved one won’t come home from a festival/concert
My daughters dad passed away on Wednesday. I truly feel your pain. This has been the hardest week of my life. Every time I look at my daughters face it makes me think of him and what happened. He was taken so fast and out of no where. I never thought this would be my life.
My mum passed away back in 2005 and tbh, it still hurts. Like you learn to live without the person but it doesn’t feel better. You continue with life cause you know that is what they would have wanted. Sending you both lots of hugs and yes just grieve how you feel you can handle ❤️
I heard Kylie got evacuated 30min before he ended the show because it became a “mass tragedy” situation, so if that is true that means she did know what was going on and saved herself, lied on social the next day saying she was devastated and didn’t realize the reality of the situation… I believe thats when he dismissed the people that tried to let him know and just continued to sing shooing them away is when she got evacuated … if this is true she should be canceled, which we know she never will be anyway.
Manny & Laura. My deepest condolences. Watching this broke me in more ways than I could explain. My good friend Jeffrey D Hill, who was 18 at the time, committed suicide out of nowhere and it broke me to pieces. Keep up with Sams family. Not everyday, they need peace too. But make sure they are okay. Both of you stay positive. I know for a fact she’s up there watching over you both along with her family. She was a beautiful woman from what I could see and definitely a big kind heart who left far too soon. I love you both so much. We can get thru everything and anything ❤️
i haven’t watched manny or laura since like 2017 and this podcast randomly popped up on my feed. i actually love this podcast so much, can’t wait to tune in!
Here’s my thing, avenged sevenfold stopped a whole concert because someone fainted. Told the crowd to clear the way for an ambulance and everything. Don’t tell me TS couldn’t do anything.
My thing is. His fans loved that behavior… until people started dying. Travis is 100% in the wrong but you guys need to also point the finger to his fans who act like animals and have no consideration for the people around them! It’s so tragic! Houston is hurting rn. This was our thing. Astroworld brought us together. We are broken. Ashamed…embarrassed!! We can’t even defend him. He has to step up and stop being so silent about it!
The way Manny describes his brothers experience is exactly what I experienced at the very first astrofest in 2018 I believe it was…. Absolutely insane, I could not move and barely touched the ground the entire time. I couldn’t even breathe, thank god my bf is a bigger guy and was able to get us out. That was traumatizing for me, I can’t even imagine what the kids this year experienced, god bless all those involved 😔🤍
Manny I thought your first face pallet was very well thought out. The video you put out thoroughly explained the shade range, how you can lighten and deepen the shades and the fact that you understood it wouldnt fit everyone but you covered as many people as you could. It makes me sad how many people are trying to drag you for the pallet. You are a very small indie brand that cannot release a face pallet to fit every skin tone like covergirl/maybelline. Of course not everyone can be covered by 10 shades but that is still more than most bronzer pallets. I think you did an amazing job with your first face pallet.
This is the first time I've run across this podcast. I love seeing you and Manny discuss things together. Manny is such a genuine hearted person. You hit the best friend jackpot Laura Lee. 🥰 You two are precious!!!! Love y'all!
I’m so sorry for your guys’ loss😞 we’ve settled into scorpio season & I’ve all been hearing about is death. These public tragedies (astroworld), pets passing, family members☹️ hold your people close and be safe everyone one
To me it’s the fact that he’s had a history of stuff like this happening at his shows and him telling people to do crazy stuff. It shouldn’t have gotten to the point of people literally dying for something to change. The change should have started long ago. Also yes he is doing a lot in the moment for the families etc, which I think is good. But what about in the future. What about going forward at his next concert. No one seems to be talking about what needs to be done to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again
the astroworld story has really been weighing heavy on my heart. I can't imagine being an artist (OR ANYONE), and seeing your fans die and suffer in your audience--and doing nothing. I've heard stories about how he even looked like he was getting some sort of satisfaction out of the loss, terror, cries, and screams coming from the crowd. I won't be watching this episode for my own mental health's sake, but I appreciate you both bringing attention to this story. RIP to those lost. thinking about their families and everyone in the crowd who had to witness and experience this terror.
U sound fuckin crazy. Who even says some one has satisfaction seein ppl die. How about he experienced da tragic loss w/ err one else. R ppl who r tramplin ppl don't count?????? Rip.
I use to go to Linkin Park’s concerts and Chester and Mike always told the crowd if someone falls to pick them up. Now I’m only 4’11 and I’ll tell you those fans took care of one another. With this tragedy, A LOT of people dropped the ball. I don’t believe in cancelled culture but he wanted people act like that and they did and it cost people’s lives. Also when you listen to his lyrics, they are very “uneasy”. There is something demonic that I just don’t like.
I’m so sorry for the loss you’ve experienced, guys. I am completely impressed you’ve still been able to keep going and working through this. Please make sure you’re taking care of yourselves and each other.
I’m sorry for your guys loss and I hope both you guys, her friends and family find comfort. They do have something like that at Coachella. There are multiple emergency tents and they also have a phone number that you can call directly and ask for help and they’ll come to you. I’ve passed out in the middle of a crowd at Coachella and people came directly to me to get me out the crowd and take me to the tent to give me fluids. Also the crowds at Coachella are so much kinder. They legit moved out the way. And previously while having a panic attack the crowd literally helped me get out.. I’m sorry to say this but the people at the concert also did not help at all. Like jumping on ambulance and stuff. Those people should also be charged
I have been in this situation many times at rock/ metal shows and festivals (Warped Tour being the most frequent)- people always took this seriously. Multiple times I have been in the very front of a crowd and we had to come together with as many rows of people possible and all push back at the same time to let those in the very front breathe. As hard of a thing as this is, the artist is the MOST responsible for what happens during their show- if they see anything that could even potentially lead to a situation like this, you stop completely and do not start again until its under control. If it doesn't get under control, the show stops, period. I have been in crowds where you are so packed in that you put your arms as high in the air as possible just so you can get the tiniest bit of air, where you literally cannot move a centimeter because of the amount of people. The size of the crowd shouldn't matter- there are annual concerts and festivals in Europe that have had crowds near this size (obviously pre-covid) and there is still the same crowd etiquette. Both from artists AND the crowd themselves. Between sets, everyone backs up and let's people catch their breath/ get a break, etc. Mosh pits are as safe as possible- you fall, someone helps you up. There are always your run of the mill drunk jackass that doesn't care about anything but the majority of people I have seen in the 24 years I've been going to concerts know there are rules and ways to look out for each other, even while still having your moshing fun. My heart goes out to each and every life lost and their families. I can't even imagine what they are going through.
At the last warped tour, I partook in the smoking of marijuana bc I was older than I ever had been at warped, and I was sitting down in a smoke circle when we went to move to the next set. But when I stood up I just collapsed, it had to have been combo of smoking, not drinking enough water, not eating, and the blaring sun. No joke, three people I didn’t even know carried me to a water mister and bought me nachos to eat. They didn’t leave my side until I could stand on my own again. I can’t even imagine what was going on here.
Just want to say: Manny, your face palette idea is genius. We always see beauty gurus mix products, so I’m sure other artists appreciated having a palette meant to be mixed. And I’m also sure that those beautiful ladies out there with darker skin tones appreciate being able to create the right colors/tones. You guys really are just awesome. I’m obsessed. And Laura!! I didn’t know about your experience with addiction until I watched your videos today, and just wow. So happy you shared it with us. You two are iconic.
THANK YOU Manny!!! You literally just took the words from my mouth. How in TF are these shows even allowed to get to this level?!!!!! What’s the answers there??? Lawd, this is why when my mother in law told me today… We are living hell on this earth, never felt so truer.
Woah guys I’m so so sorry for your loss. I’ve lost so many people I love in the last few years & truly, it doesn’t get easier, & it shouldn’t. I’ve had a LOT of therapy around it, & there are 3 majorly useful things I have learned 1. You don’t ever get over it, but you will, eventually, get THROUGH it 2. Grief is an expression of love 3. Torturing yourself by dragging your souls around trying to get answers to questions that can’t be answered is only hurting you. I hope you eventually have a version of peace & I’m grateful you have each other to lean on x
With Astroworld it seems like there was almost an attitude of "well thats what happens at shows" in regards to rowdy crowds in general it's like his fans feel like if they don't take it to an extreme then it doesn't count. He basically encouraged his fans to disregard others safety for heir own enjoyment or the sake of having a crazy story to tell from seeing his show.
TRAVIS SCOTT SAID WORD FOR WORD AND I QUOTE FROM A VIDEO “ Who told me to stop? Y’all know what y’all came here for, let’s go. “ So many “ COINCIDENCES “
I am so sorry for y'alls loss. It never gets easier. I am so sad & sorry for the victims & their families. I've lost so many ppl the last few years I've started experiencing PTSD around any tragedy & I'm just so sorry for Every one.
My family just lost a close friend he was 32 literally out of no where. He had a stomach ache went to rest and didn’t wake up again, it was shocking. It has me paranoid now every ache I feel I’m anxious that this is it. It really SHOOK ME to my core. My prayers are with you guys and I hope going forward you get the help you need through this.
I am sending so much light and love to both of you during this time. I lost someone recently as well. The fact that you guys are still recording the podcast...I couldnt do that but I understand wanting to stay busy and just trying to keep moving. Love you both so much!
As a mother I feel a duty to tell both of you sweet doves, Its said that when you cry for your loved ones that have passed on, they feel your emotions for them and they will come to visit you and that's how we are able to overcome the pain and grief. They literally will come and comfort us as we cry for them. Our love for our departed literally has no boundaries. Even death can not keep us apart. To Lara, I am so truly sorry for the pain you have to endure, please take comfort in knowing you will now carry your mommas spirit with you, her light, her guidance, her teachings, her many ways of love, that you have been giving to your loved ones, and they will continue with their loved ones. It truly is beautiful how we are able to carry on our greatest leaders, our guardians whom we will forever treasure, and though it's only for a short departure that you will be apart from her, treasure the knowledge that when you both are finally reunited, it'll be an eternal shower of every cherished moment you spent together here. ❤
I am very appreciative that you guys also gave tips to how to protect yourself in that situation at a concert. I was up against a barricade at a concert years ago and had to get pulled out by security because it was so much pressure. The next day my ribs were so bruised. Now I never go to a concert unless I pay for a seat, no more pits for me haha
I lost my best friend 4 years ago it still hurts everyday but something that helps is I talk to her and I’m still close to her family and see them at holidays and we get together at her birthday to celebrate her every year. It’s hard but therapeutic. so maybe you both can do a celebration each year in her honor and eat her fave foods, watch her face movies etc like we try to do each time we celebrate? It’s like you said it never doesn’t hurt you learn to cope. Sending so much love ❤️
Travis stopped the concert but for very stupid things , there’s videos of him literally looking at a person that was unconscious and was getting passed through the crowd and he was still singing. it’s 100% Travis fault he had control over everything he should’ve cancelled it as soon as people rushed and broke down the gates, If he actually cared about safety he would’ve but no he doesn’t care! He could’ve controlled the crowd there’s videos of him literally seeing people Passed out or unconscious and he still kept going he knew what he was doing , their blood is on his hands Bc it should’ve never got this bad!
Did you notice how Quiet the crowd got when he was "singing" as the person was being carried out? Proof he had control over that crowd and there could've been a much different outcome.
I am so shocked about Sam's passing, I have been on hiatus from social media and did not know. I have followed her for years and feel like her stories about Starbuck's pumpkin spice drinks are part of my fall ritual, and I'm going to miss her posts about Honey, just feel like she's a real one... I've always waited for her return to YT... now I know she will never... So sorry for your loss, I know she was a very good friend who saw you both through your tough times.
Firstly, condolences to you both for the loss of your friend Sam. I don’t know how you both got through doing a podcast, well done for finding the strength. Secondly, congrats on your launches🥳 they are GORGA! LOVE YOU BOTH MANNY AND LAURA 💖Lastly, thank you for covering the tragic events at Astroworld. Travis Scott and the events company MUST be held accountable and damn right law suits are being made against them and should be! Even though nothing will bring back those poor souls who lost their lives, some justice needs to happen for their families. As for the satanic stuff…the coincidences are too many to ignore… I’ll just leave that there. RIP to everyone who lost their lives and thoughts going out to their loved ones and other victims of the event 🙏 The holidays are going to be heartbreaking for a lot of people 😔💔xx
I lost my mom to cancer 11 yearw ago and even to this day i will cry talking about her. Even tho i knew it was coming, losing someone u love with ur whole being is something u can never just except. Im so so sorry about ur loose laura 😪😪
Few years ago TS did this before, Here in Vegas at a pool club my hubby was security and TS kept telling ppl to rush the stage F the security and of course they did, my hubby was close to being caught up in it. TS was banned from that hotel but money talks you know.
Travis Scott literally stood there and watched as he watched the people get put in ambulances, people were trying to tell the concert what was going on and they did not care they literally told them to get off the stage and Travis told the other guys to get off the stage he knew what was going on he did not care now he cares because he’s getting hate for it it’s disgusting
Imagine going to a festival and being excited about it for months just to go and not know it would be your last day alive….that’s devastating. There’s nothing you can do or say to take that back…and to ignore it even, he deserves so much more than to be sued. He’s loaded, he’s not pressed.
I’m a nurse and I have met multiple victims. It’s so heartbreaking seeing them traumatized and in tears from this event. Yes he should be canceled in my opinion. He should be hold accountable.
