If they already picked up his fifth year option. I don’t even know why we’re having this conversation. He needs to play that out. Because even if you can’t come to a contract agreement after those five years, you could still franchise tag him for way less than the 55 million he’s gonna be asking for. So Tua has no leverage here.

Wanted to say this. This was never a question with Herbert. Even after this year (with the injuries to him again), Charger fans aren't looking at Mahomes, Burrow and Allen saying "I wish we had him instead." Naw, we are good here and that should be enough to tell you that Herbert is that guy. Also, I do think Tua is great. Give him his money because he only gets more expensive as the years go on, especially if he stays healthy. That system is perfect for him, he'll continue to put numbers up

Agreed, this past game showed that. Hill and Waddle are great when hit on the run, but once the secondary layers them. He needs a 50/50 guy, that's what got them 3rd down conversions with Gesicki.

Tua's win-loss % is 64% in 53 games. Hurts's is 60% in 62 games. Burrow's is 58% in 50 games. Herbert's is less than 50%. That's his draft class. Of course he needs a playoff win...but let us Miami fans enjoy the moment...consecutive seasons in the playoffs. Tua will keep improving.

Tua isnt Mahomes, Allen, Burrow or Lamar. He's in that Herbert, Lawrence, Stroud second tier of AFC quarterbacks. If the dolphins can convince him to play on a discounted contract, then awesome. But Herbert is the third highest paid qb and his team just went 5-12 and was last in their division... that included the raiders and broncos... Unfortunately Tua is good enough to be paid like a top 5 qb even though he isnt one.

@@jonnysnipes3123 I think from what we've seen, at his apex tua is the fourth best QB in the AFC, Mahomes and Burrow are absolutely better and I personally believe Lamar has proved himself to be 3rd after this season. I think Tua could be better than Allen because both have high highs and low lows. But rn you could argue Tua is the 7th or even 8th best QB in the AFC. If he can combine the success against good teams last season and the consistent health of this season, he'll be worth every penny of a max contract.

Thats what people say about another QB, i won't speak his name here. It seems he only excels when everything is perfect. Football isn't perfect, gets get injured. Players get jammed at the line, plays break down. I rate QBs based on how they play when things don't go well. Tua will get paid, the question is will it be a team friendly deal.

The Miami coach has been saying since Tua came on board the Dolphins boat that Tua was the future of the Miami Dolphins - and now a talking head is asking if Tua needs a long term deal - something doesn't fit when most thought he had a long term deal. Well that could be a problem with the scheme and I am sure he would like to have a big receiver to throw to once in a while and even a sized TE even both. Yet, he is really good throwing to smurf receivers getting the ball out but as you can see this offense wears them out getting hit in the underneath to medium ranges of a defense...

As a Dolphins fan ima keep it a stack. Tua is a franchise QB, however the fact is that he does need a team like majority of the QBs in the league to be at his best. And when I say team I don’t mean players like Hill I mean the basics like a o-line that can give him time to sit in the pocket and not have to get it out at 2.6 seconds just to make plays. The problem is the league has become so infatuated with the stud QBs like Lamar, Allen, and Mahomes but those are literal 1 of 1 QBs that only come out the draft every now and then and even then they come into terrible situations like Cam in NC and get punished trying to carry those franchises. I like Tua and besides the lack of his ability to scramble at times he’s the best QB we’ve had in awhile.

Here’s the deal; McDaniel runs the fastest offense in the NFL and has the slowest young QB under center. Release is good (but you’d hope so given he throws to spots) but he’s not much of a scrambler and has taken bad sacks. Move off him, trade him if you can - or better yet, trade for Fields.

He is not in the NFL that long. There are other QBs that yall said elite and the right one for Miami. I can name them all. Tua is still doing well. What you say about Ttevor Larence missing the Playoffs. What about Eagles missing the Division title. Those teams have better defense and OL. Dolphins do have good defense but they are injured. Starters on Offense injured. Yall got look at that way. It's all not because of this kid. Look at the situation. Both sides are not clicking. Injuries is another issue. And it’s still only his second year under Mcdaniel’s offense, and like you said his first full season. And he wasn’t developed the way he should have been with the previous regime therefore if they had utilized him, and spoke to him like coach McDaniel does, then they could’ve seen his full potential sooner. Joy is absolutely right. I totally disagree with the premise that Tua isn't as good a talent as the rest of the quarterbacks they are comparing him to. To me Dak, Lamar, Josh, Tua are all the same. They all play well but havnt won a super bowl, or a championship, and are not expected to make to either year after year.

Players knew they were getting the ball, look at Carr he won't throw it deep unless the play is perfect. Jimmy is throwing it with his eyes closed. The ball might be 1 yard behind or 3 yards too high but you will be getting your targets. Let me worry about the catch, just give me the ball.

While i agree, don't you think the Cowboys or 49ers would have won a Super Bowl with a better QB? Mcvay saw the writing on the wall and got Stafford, the Bucs picked up Brady. When you pay an average guy top money you are now stuck as a franchise for 5 years. Hoping an average QB gets better sometimes doesn't work out. The Titans might have won a Super Bowl with better QB play.

Fields will never be elite. Guy can't process what's in front of him fast and find open guys. Being an elite athlete doesn't make you an elite QB. In his case, he's not even a good one. Dysfunction in Houston didn't stop Stroud. Nor did it stop Burrow in Cincy. There Bears made the playoffs 2 of 4 years with MITCHEL TRUBISKY...think about that. Fields has accomplished less than a genuine scrub.

If you actually watch the games, tua doesn’t even go through his progressions. Like really watch and you’ll see it hardly looks like he’s reading the defense. He predetermines where he wants to throw and sometimes looks at the 2nd read

His goal is to get the ball out fast and tries to pick the most advantageous matchup according to the defense. He just won't hold the ball too long to check every receiver. This strategy doesn't always work, but he definitely is reading the defense by trying to pick the best matchups.

I'm a Bengals fan. Browning is a good QB he has a nice arm. Can make most throws in rythm. He could work in the dolphins fast paced offense. But is he a better option then Tua? Just because he will be cheaper. Idk

I’m not paying him top QB money if he can’t win his division. Also it’s not Tua vs Josh Allen it was Tua against a depleted Bills defense. With Waddle/ Tyreek and that run game, I think you could easily plug a lot of QBs in there that would make that team divisional winners and at least AFC championship.

I think most would agree, roll w/ Tua. But he isn't THAT DUDE. Pay him that Goff tier money, 32 mil annual. I don't see the issue. Everyone should be happy and rich with that. I think him and Purdy are closest comps...soft armed quick read guys with a nice pillowy deep ball. Purdy is MUCH better at it though. He actually shows up for big boy games (most of the time). How do you pay anyone 55 mil that will basically be OWNED by the Bills and Allen every year. Media LOVES to advocate for players getting "paid"...News flash - every single one "gets paid". Bench scrubs get millions once veterans. Meanwhile, normal people can't afford tickets to take their family to the game. I go to 3-4 Rams games a year. Just for my girl and I that's probably 3k worth of Sundays. Most can't do that:/

What you've all said makes sense but Pay Tua Right or What Plan B? Tua has developed very rapidly since he has receivers who Actually Catch catchable passes. But now Waddle is missing. Tyreek is Other World but with an entire Secondary on-deck to keep him in front of them all he can be Stymied. The running game is Good but not Deep enough with Mostert hurt. The chances of Miami beating the Bills up there across the border from Canada are lower than the temperature will be at Kickoff. Respect

I think the issue is this. When you pay an average or slightly above average player (especially quarterbacks), big money, and they don’t perform it almost kills a team. I don’t hate Tua, I just think he’s small, and simply not as physically gifted as the big gun qbs. He’s very smart, and proven he’s pretty freaking resilient. But he has had way more collapses in big moments than triumphs. I honestly would not be able to justify big money. Respectable, sure. He’s just not proven he’s worth top 5 money. Look at what happened with Daniel Jones in New York, and Derek Carr. If Tua’s ok with taking a little less so they can get a couple more missing pieces I’d be all for it. But I also believe get paid what you can, so good luck to him in the end. He’s better than average, but unless he crushes the playoffs, I don’t know if I could justify the big money for him.

Anybody who blames MMD as a pose to Tua is a Tua Stan. I’m taking MMD over Tua any day. I’m sorry if I’m Mia I’m trading for Fields, trading Tua and using that money to keep Wilkins and replace Baker. Tua doesn’t show he can carry a franchise and when you pay him that’s exactly what he will need to do. Y’all think we going to have all this talent on this team for the next 5 years. No!!!!! I’m not settling because things are better than they have been at that position in 20 years.
