Will I get better fuel economy using cruise control on my 128 Cubic Inch Zipper's Performance Harley-Davidson Street Glide? How many miles do I get per gallon? Real world testing.

First Check was 36.5 MPG on cruise control. 35.9 MPG riding it hard. So you know what that means, don't ever be shy of the throttle!

I love these types of videos. We have plenty of installation and review videos from yourself and other sources. But topic videos about operation of the motorcycle are scarce. Thank you for doing this. Now, I have a 114" with a Stage 1 SE tune, performance air filter and slipons. On local riding, I would get around 210 miles when the low fuel lights up. On interstate travel (500 mile days), I get about 225 miles. I refuel with around 5 gallons. So on the first scenario, my mpg is 42 and on the second is 45. Hope we get more comments about other people experiences so we can compare and see if we doing it right. Also, if anyone is considering doing a Stage 2-4 build, we can see what are we facing. God blees you all and ride safe.

Wise advice Tall says, re maintaining a big crash avoidance space. You can use the cruise control +\- as well as deceleration, instead of breaking when you've got a decent distance between the next vehicle. Gives you a very smooth ride with little braking needed and no heavy throttle useage. That's my method of driving when I had a patient in the back of the ambulance I drove. 🇦🇺

So many variable in getting your average fuel mileage. I’ve found that I get much better mileage consistently when using the Cruise Control, especially on long trips. I typically set the cruise 8-10 over the limit and roll. Come off only when I have to in order to navigate traffic. Looks like you’re getting good mileage with that build.

What’s up Tall? The manufacturer’s estimated MPG is 42mpg. I think your engine build has you in the same category +/-….. So a 6 gallon tank, under normal highway driving conditions, should get you 220 - 250 miles per full tank. A lot of things can come in to play to interfere with your MPG, but your video is providing good info as you tested your bike, thanks again Tall.

I find that it does not matter, if they ever learned that shoulder checking is necessary and that they have side view mirrors, they have completely forgot about how it can save a whole lotta hurt to their vehicles and don’t really care that anyone else is on the road. For me the only one who can keep me safe is myself and I have to work very hard to do that.

30.3 divided by .830 = 36.506 mpg on Cruise control. Then second fill 30.1 divided by 8.39 = 35.876 difference of difference of 1.470 mpg better with cruise control. on a 5 gallon tank that is a difference of 0f 7.35 miles if travel.

I’m totally loving my XL1200’s fuel mileage more than ever. I’m usually flowing with traffic too, or more. 75mph+ and I seem to get 47+ mpg. Needs a 6th gear bad; lower my rpm’s and even better mileage. Staying in the crowd is always more dangerous than being away from traffic. I like big distance ahead of me and behind me from other traffic. I change as conditions change. ( traffic and weather) I like using plenty of throttle, more fun, and my mileage is measured with fun acceleration. Not the boring acceleration.

That's some nice milage there from reading the comments that did the math. Zipper's did you right, more HP, more torque & still maintain close to stock milage . I think your mill does a lot better than my Indian 116 & my tank is smaller too. (5.5 vs 6 gal) Had a Lloyd'z remote tune on it also but perhaps a in- person tune would be better. Still enjoyed the video .....

I have a Street Glide too, but I found that when you think it is full that you need to shake the bike a little. I move the handlebars a little and see the gas level drop. I believed it is equalizing the gas in each side of the tank. I find I can get least a 1/2 gallon more. This trick works with any bike with a center fill cap.

Yes, but only lower speeds. Higher speeds lower mileage. The question is it AS fuel efficient as it was the other motor setups. Answer is probably not because everything is bigger and the Rev limits are changed.

A longer ride will get more accurate results, but it really needs to be the exact route. So two round-trips. The problem is that if traffic changes for each route, that will affect the mpg. So maybe Bristol will let you test with 200 laps with cruise and 200 without. 😂 Good luck with that.
