Chè vỉa hè cô Điệp - Still one of my favorite places for Chè. Maybe because it was the first place I really felt like home and family while in Vietnam or just because the Chè is so darn good, but I really do recommend you trying here.

Actually, the young guy running this chè stall is the nephew of "chú''. "Chú" and his older sister (young guy's mother) have sold chè for so long. I used to live nearby, a couple of houses away. Man, this brought me straight back to my childhood. Thank you so much for this, Max!

@jaygeewin 1 month! I only had 7 days because I left the little kids at home with the hubby. We fit so much food in lol but missed out on so much. You're so lucky. When the kids are older I am 100% going back with them. I loved vietnam 😭

In my experience, the time you really get overcharged is when you go to super touristy places. I haven’t had bad experiences when i go to like back alley street food or ma and pa spots when i go back to vietnam

thats how a typical vietnamese are, he was taught right by his parent. So typically what Max should have done is buy something else and say its for someone else. Just always do something in return so you dont owe the person, its a culture thing.

I don't know how I feel about this comment...I think there's a cultural difference in play here. Vietnam is a haggling market, not one where prices are set. When you buy things on Amazon, are you guaranteed the best/cheapest price or are you "OVERCHARGED" as you put it if more than one vendor sells it on Amazon and you missed buying it from the vendor with the cheapest price? When you shop around the US and you pay more for something at a luxury grocery store (watch Honeysuckle's recent video on Erewon) than at Walmart, are you being ripped off? Think upon that. If you see an opportunity demand is great and you can make a bigger profit, would you? Isn't that what some do on Amazon and at stores in town all over the US? So if you want a set price, then go to a store with set prices displayed, then you're guaranteed to not be "overcharged".

My advice to those who think they are being overcharged is ASK FOR THE PRICE BEFORE YOU BUY IF THE PRICE IS NOT DISPLAYED. I do this everywhere I travel ! ...it is this simple.

the main ingredient of claypot rice is the finish touch of thick sweet soysauce IF not it's just a regular claypot rice not bring home the bacon; claypot rice used to serve during in the cold season just like hotpot...great to see MAX njoying himself ev'ryday & letting us tag along!

Chợ Tân Định Sinh ra tại nhà thương Đông Hà tại chợ TĐ. Hồi nhỏ chơi rượt bắt chạy chân đất vòng vòng quanh chợ từ Trần Quang Khải đến Nguyễn Hữu Cầu rồi lại qua Hai Bà Trưng... Nhớ khu chợ thân quen này ghê. Giờ thì sống ở Sacramento rồi hiếm có dịp quay về. Nhớ đi uống sữa đậu nành và ăn súp cua của chợ nữa nha. Gần Nguyễn Hữu Cầu đi ra hướng cầu mới có tiệm bánh canh cua ngon lắm ak. Gần chợ đối diện nhà sách Tân Định hồi xưa có cô bán cháo sườn nhất là đi chơi đêm về ghé đó ăn 1 tô là tỉnh rượu liền 🥰

Man that "che dau trang" is my favourite too. I like it cold but warm is good on a cold day. Rice pudding is similar to this but this to me is more exciting in texture and flavour.

Any che with legumes in it automatically goes down to the bottom of my list of favorites. LOL! I prefer almost everything else over legumes (although I'm okay with mushed up mung beans and such, but black-eye peas or black beans...eh). You're looking very handsome today. 😉
