Here are four sides of me speaking Chinese, English, French and Japanese. I’m a completely different person when I speak a different language.
Do you feel like your personality changes with the language you are speaking? I'd love to hear from you!

I had noticed this myself. Though I remain within same personality, I think some traits are either lessened or enhanced. In greek (my native), I'm a little more casual and easygoing. In english, I can definitely be super casual but tend to be more formal regardless of company. Weirdly enough, I'm a mix of both casual and formal, the extend of this may just alter a bit depending on the language. I'm currently learning japanese, so it'll be interesting to see what will happen.

I love this Rui! So funny. I totally identify with having different aspects of my personality for different languages. It's fascinating and I am so curious to see if Ben also experiences this growing up. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for this explanation! I really appreciate how you combine theory you've study with your personal experiences and demonstrate how your linguistic life reflects these theories. I would love to know what sources your read/review so I can study them myself :)

Omg finally I am able to find someone who have the same feelings! I’m native Japanese and when I speaking in Japanese I get very polite and sometimes I get very nervous to being honest. On the other hand when I speaking English I get so optimistic, talkative, straightforward and, out going at the same time. Thank you for sharing this video I really liked it💖

I agree... I'm native Chinese and I am fluent in both English and German. I tried to learn Japanese and French before, but I just never had the environment for enough practice, so I can speak just a little... I think each language reflects an individual mentality, how people see things, feel things, and the individual way to express their feelings...

Wow!!! Just wow!!! You like anime too??? Damn!!! I love anime so much. I didn't know you speak Japanese. How did you learn it? Also, which anime have you watched recently?

I learned Japanese just from watching anime… I love all of Hayao Miyazaki’s work since I was a kid. I still remember my mum letting me watch an episode of Doraemon or Ikkyū-san while having dinner every day when I was little. Those were some of my fondest memories from childhood. I also like Conan, Pokémon, One piece, and Naruto.
