A dog who made national headlines when she was rescued after spending more than a week in a shipping container in Texas is receiving care from a local animal rescue team. Northern Virginia Bureau Reporter Drew Wilder follows her incredible journey.

@@Yman83464z I’m not sure if she would do that, but it makes me so livid that someone was cruel enough to do this to her. And she’s a golden retriever, I grew up with retriever, so this really hits me.

oh yes, and more beautiful babies on the way. Just think that our traitors sent out all our mfg of what we need from head to toe, that the empty shipping containers must be sent back to hater/aggressor nations peoples pay off with money and perversions OUR traitors bi dem and so on,... sent out our security, independence, VOICE, and GOOD JOBS for our Fellow Americans GROWING home less the only thing that is really growing. Fix this for the likes of Connie's beautiful face and those who love her.

Are you people kidding me, if the owners were negligent enough that their dog didn't have a microchip or tracker collar and managed to "lose" her so that she was forced to try to survive and got pregnant (obviously not spayed) there is no way those people should have the dog back even if they came forward. Connie deserves and will get better owners, as will her puppies.

Agreed but the fact that she’s in one of those containers means she came far, I’m wondering if she was shipped from China? Those people do anything cruel. And she’s a golden retriever, which really hits me because I grew up with retrievers. Stuck in that pitched dark container for eight days, really makes me pissed thank God she was found.

@@animaljustice7774 It was my I understanding from the video they said that she crawled into the container before, while it was waiting to be shipped out and stacked in rows for shipping out because I thought they were saying how lucky it was that they noticed her in there before shipping as she would have certainly had died if they hadn't and was not an incoming container from another country.

I'm willing to bet this girl is a ship channel dog. We have a huge stray dog problem here in Houston. Has nothing to do with China. Texas is plenty cruel to street dogs right here in the US. My own dog lived in the Ship Channel area before being rescued. Connie was probably a tired stray dog that took a nap in the container.

You do know that stray starving female dogs give birth to puppies that survive all of the time. Right? 8 days is not that horrible. She is big enough to survive that with her babies surviving too.

Don't feel bad for Connie's so-called first family. They didn't have her chipped nor was she spayed. They do NOT deserve a 2nd chance to neglect or abuse that sweet dog!

@@rridderbusch518 they could have done it ages ago, (aka not wait it out) there is places you can spray dogs that pay minimum fee if you can't afford it. Or just don't get a dog if you can't even afford that. Animals aren't toys, they are a lifelong commitment. there is zero excuse.

@@_Y.Not_. Did anyone ever say where the containers were from? She could’ve escaped some country where they don’t have animal cruelty laws. If so she’s in great shape for where she came from. Not that laws protect them that much. Look at our disgraceful puppy mills.

Based on the East Coast, these news anchors may not be aware of the large numbers of stray and abandoned dogs in other parts of the US, including Texas.

I have recently become more aware of the issue of abandoned dogs and cats in Texas. Maybe the news staff understands now too. Obviously, she was in need of being saved from a life lacking in proper care.

This makes me so angry, whoever put her in that container did it intentionally, and she was stuck there for eight days, she could’ve starved to death. Those containers are pitch black there’s no light, so imagine what she went through. And she’s expecting! Let me guess, did this container come from freaking China??!!

I can almost guarantee you there is foul play here. Someone who didnt want Connie, slipped her into that container. We work with container shipping and we know how it works. That container is sealed before it is shipped. Then the seal is broken and closed. No-one tells us whether the container was empty with just Connie inside of it, or if it had goods inside. Dont look for her owners - they didnt want her. Rather find her a fabulous NEW home where she and her puppies will be appreciated.

If that dog truly had loving caring owners, she wouldn’t have been in the container with heart worms and pregnant. She doesn’t need to be returned to them. She’s better off.

Why was Connie IN the container? No-one says how/why Connie got there....surely the owner of the container & where it came from. Who leaves a container door open if not loading, so what else was in the container?. Seems like pure brutality. So glad Connie survived to thrive.

How is this beautiful pup heart worm condition.I have two beautiful golden retrievers who are my world and the thought of this precious girl being scared in that container bring tears to my eyes. She is safe now and hopefully will have the most awesome family to love her all her life. I would consider bringing her home to my home too.
