Amazing video! Thank you. My husband and is just got a van and we are working on a layout for our German Shepard, so all these tips are amazing. One thought though, isn’t really annoying for a dog, whose hearing is amazing, to have a bell at all times. I cannot imagine having someone put a always noisy thing at all times on me.
That’s a great point that we haven’t given too much thought. Over the past four years we only put the bell on her in bear country when hiking and biking. She’s always having the time of her life out on the trails so the little extra noise doesn’t seem to bother her.
Hahaha yes! It took us forever to finally decide to get it. Just one time of us getting lost did the trick. She was back at the car and I was searching in the woods. Luckily it all worked out.

Great dog tips. We travel with two full-sized dogs - and one is a Golden Retriever! Your dog hair tips are great. We feed our dogs dehydrated raw dog food and the equivalent of a 40 lb bag fits in a small box. Haha it’s insanely expensive! It’s took us a long time to bring ourselves to make the purchase but we are so glad we did. It really does give us peace of mind in all these foreign places.

I. Have four dogs and one of them is my service dog and replacing ate home later this year and living in a camper that’s pretty big for four dogs and four cats we have a safe place for the pets when we aren’t on the camper and I wake up at seven am feed my dogs walk my dogs and give fresh water feed my cats and scoop there littler and give them fresh water I always make sure I take care of my pets before o care for myself thank you for this video found this very helpful

Hi! Doing my research and I wanted to ask what you do with her while you go in places on your own. Does she stay in the van with air/heat on? I have a Bosty that will be traveling with me :) GREAT TIPS!
If it’s warm out we typically leave her in the van with the vents in the back open and our max air fan running and also block out the front windows. We do our best to move with the weather but if it seems too hot out we never leave her. We’ll instead go late or early in the day or one at a time. Coming from Georgia leaving Penelope in the car was a huge concern of ours since we used to use our cars electric start to leave the car running while we were in stores. Also another thing to keep in mind is an insulated van doesn’t get nearly as hot as a typical car.

I’m a little late here! Just wondering what you do with Penelope if you are going some where she can’t go (I.e. short hike, into the grocery store, out of for dinner, etc.)? I noticed the crate, do you crate her in the van? If so how do you maintain airflow in the van when she’s there alone? I’m hoping to start Van life very shortly with my dog and this is a challenge we are struggling to solve.
When planning van life we struggled with the same problem. We always took Penelope with us everywhere in Georgia but our car had a remote starter so the a/c kept running while we were inside a store. Originally we thought we had to have A/C for her but then with A/C we would have to have shore power which wouldn’t work unless we had full hookups which is never for us. When we leave Penelope a few things are different in a van than a normal car. 1.) We have vents in the back that open and our MaxxFan running creates some nice airflow. 2.) With insulation and window coverings the van does a way better job maintaining its temperature vs a car. 3.) We attempt to move with the weather so it never gets too hot for her or us. 4.) If it is too hot one of us stays behind. This is unfortunate at times in those really neat National park areas but it is what it is. We could crate her in the van if needed but she’s pretty good when we leave her just whines never really destroys anything. We’ve watched her on camera. We do still use the crate in case we stay at an air bnb or hotel.

She has a set of ruffwear dog boots but only wears them when her paws seem worn down. That only happens after lots of riding in desert terrain over rough rocks, etc. But I do like to pack them with me on really long hikes just in case!
Hi, couple of questions we have a GSP cross, Noodles loves to explore and we have considered the Garmin tracking device but wonder how good are they? Next question what harness do you use? And like the collar looks really good.
Hi! We love our Garmin! The GPS is incredibly precise and it has a 4 mile range which is pretty good. We haven’t had any issues with battery or other weird defects. She sometimes wears the ruffwear front range harness which we like a lot but it does rub her armpits a bit after a long day of running. Let us know if Noodle wants a collar like Penelope’s!

I’m sure Noodles would love a collar like Penelope but unfortunately we live in Guernsey 🇬🇬, Channel Islands. Definitely some good tips. 👍
@@OutOfThisVan It's just one that I found works really well, you can literally tip that thing upside down and the water will simply go into the base and not spill. It's insanely well thought out.

@@abbeyawesome1012 I only have experience with my dog Penelope. Her anxiety is pretty bad but when we were leaving her for work everyday we just kept a routine where we left music on for her and after a while she got use to us leaving everyday. In the van she’s been great she also knows our routine of getting groceries so she just takes a quick nap in the car.
We can’t please everyone. If you watched our videos you’d come to realize that we put our dogs needs first and try to provide her with a fulfilling life.
@Out Of This Van Your dog does look like it has a fun life with many adventures, the GPS and speaker features you were talking about sound amazing, but I do think you should reconsider the electric shock collar. Surely you should never need to electrocute your dog. I wouldn't say anything normally but you have thousands of views on this and might encourage others to do the same.
