That was a lovely bit of training. I'd not thought to use a threshold to teach stand at a distance. I have down at a distance from scent work but not stand. Love that you mentioned having just a few treats and then ending your training session. What a gorgeous pupil you have! I do enjoy your videos, keep posting please! x

Thanks for this Emily. I'm doing a section in my class on cooperative care and I'm teaching the chin rest. I wanted to teach another behaviour as well, like the stand. I learned how to teach the stand a long time ago when I was showing my dog, but I needed a refresher! This was great. I'll be using this video link for my students to watch! I use a few of your videos for them to remind them after the class what they need to do!

Emily, I've had a 12-week old Golden retriever puppy for about a week. She's learned sit and down really well, but she's now doing down when I say sit. Stand is really hard, all she wants to do is lay down. I think I overtrained down because she was jumping on everything. 😢 Not having her stand is impacting basic leash training, because she won't even follow a lure anymore, unless I throw the food on the ground. Any advice you can give me?
