I grew up with a Pekingese Pom mix and she was the perfect dog. Lived to 17, had the Pom face, but Peking fur. Sweet, smart and friendly. I miss her all the time. And we bred her with a purebred Pekingese and her puppies were so cute too.
Our Peke is 20 yrs old now and just as spunky and sassy as she could be. We live in the country and she does love to run out in the woods, into the ponds and can outrun us mere humans.
My pekingese is MY child bcs when he was still a puppy, he already loves me. One time I looked out of the wndow, he was out of the basket waiting for us. I miss him cuz now he's dead, but, we always remember him, love him and always be our lum lum lum pup. 😚😘
My family had a pekginese her name was mizti she died in 2018 on july 25th 11:30 am. I loved her to death and she did to me as well she always stuck around me as a baby and would protect me she was a big fluffy white baby i loved her so much rest in peace my pupper
Mine lived to 16. Very calm and barely aggressive. Pretty docile but wouldn't take crap from the Pomeranian (both were girls) who usually instigated the squabble 😂🤣😂🤣😂😂 🐾 🐾
I read a book set in 1923 Hollywood in which a flamboyant movie star has three Pekingese. The author has the dogs and adores them, but admits some of her friends consider them "one step above bunny slippers." Not my favorite breed but I do think they are cute.
Our half chi, half pek has no problem coming when called; she gets excited because she thinks that it's time for food or snuggles. Heck, she'll come whether you're calling for her or not, because how DARE you give attention to something/someone other than her!
I have two a male and a female one black one white. I don`t think they make good dogs for kids. They act kinda like cats except they want to be near you all the time. They are hard headed and stubborn of any bread. I love mine and they are great with other people but with kids I would consider another bread. For old people or an apartment dog they are perfect and they are pretty smart compared to other breads.
I remember my peke barking at my mother in law for sitting in a certain chair. My mother in law was sitting in a chair that belonged to the peke. 😂 My mother in law is a sweetheart and moved. And the peke was well once again.
They look 1000xs better with shorter hair. That "standard" look is a mess, & hides that cute face IMO. My Grandparents have 2 and they keep the hair kind of long @ the head and tail, but the rest is short, sometime they cut the hair shorter around the head and tail too in hotter weather. The coat looks better and their faces look utterly precious & super cute. The hair doesn't grow super fast either and only needs a trim every few months. Precious dogs.
My dog is a mix with Pekingese and Pug. Wonder how long she'll live? Her name is sissie. And the women lied, my dog runs all over the Wisconsin countryside with my other 12 year old lab Clyde.
They live a long time. Ours was at least 16 years old before she passed. She was healthy her whole life, absolutely no problems, a Lhasa Apso/Pekingese mix. Even during her final year of life she was very healthy. It just suddenly happened where she went downhill fast. I loved that dog. I was a teenager when we got her. Now I’m thinking about getting my own Pekingese maybe. My only hesitation is I do have young kids around and so I don’t know if that would work. But I do really want one. But, maybe I can teach the kids to be gentle.
