the best dog I've ever had! he just loves my young sister to the point to grab her by her pens and gently drag her to the porch. We never trained the dog but he was no joke. back in 1999, our house was invaded by 2 burglars.. the dog grabbed one on the chin, he managed to escape but left a big trail of blood behind! we only took notice by the neighbors! nothing was taken!!
Very Informative video for new prospective Fila Owners.. I am sharing this .. I have owned many Filas over the years . Thank You For Loving this breed enough to Create this video
I have a Fila Mastiff LaLa haha She is very protective naturally it's crazy, no training just her wanting to protect OUR family. You have to know what you are doing with these pups or you will have a law suit waiting to happen My girl is very chill and laid back, but you gotta remember what they were meant for.
I enjoyed coming across this video!! That's my late friend Bruce Hunter (rip) & his 94 National Champion Kato. Kato was an awesome dog!! Thats how i was introduced to the breed.. I purchased a male of Kato's 1'st litter. Takes me back.. i still consider owning another Fila from time to time.. i just hate to loose them : / Thanx again for this!! "There are dogs... and then they'res Fila's" - Bruce Hunter r.i.p.
Wow, that was a blast from the past. The clips where their temperament testing the Fila with the black Lincoln in the background were taken in Haddam CT. at the Nutmeg Classic, I'm pretty sure the Fila was Linda's dog Z, Linda is the girl that's in this video, the Lincoln was mine, I'm probably in the background somewhere with my Fila, we actually had the dog's long leash attached to the car, I still have one of those original video's. I even think I met Bruce at a NJ show, his Fila was my Fila's brother, great guy, even though his dog wasn't as good looking as mine, lol To bad they don't have those show's anymore in Haddam, we had the best time,. I still have a whole bunch of ribbons etc. lastly, Linda is probably the most knowledgeable person on Fila's that you will ever talk too.. I bought my first Fila from her, he was the son of Trouble also, like Bruce's dog who is in the video. If anyone buy's a dog from Linda, (if she's still breeding) has nothing to worry about, she was always' there when I needed her, even years later when the dog was gone, she still loved to talk Fila's. Just love her!
enjoyed this video, informative and intelligent dog talk...and what beautiful dogs they are. Love the one covering the ground with his nose when he's out for a walk, do you still have his genetics?
Just came across this. Been reading up and researching the breed for a long time. Now going through trying to figure out good breeders of the breed preferably here in the US and my goodness it's not easy.
Tatal, I found both original Dogs that protect tapes, If you'd like them let me know, I'll get someone to copy them to DVD for you, Then I'll send them off to ya if you'd like, just let me know. I'm at eeezzztolv@aol.com
Can you take the fila in the car with you and walk around the park if you socialize him? Can you teach a fila to "come" even in tense situations? Will a fila need to be put in the bedroom when you have visitors? Will he wonder away from home if you leave the gate open?
rafael55 Take in car...They will knock the window out in a second if a stranger walks past the car. Take them to the park?? Not advisable, because of Ojeriza. Do you need to put to them up if you have company? If you don't live there, you are a stranger. So, yes. Preferably in a strong kennel. Can they be called back from a tense situation? Probably not. If they feel you are in danger, it's a go for them. Will they wander away? Yes definitely. Then, while on the loose, I would consider them a danger.
