Hey Jose, I've been watching these interviews regularly and I love how you get into the personnel aspects of life with artists. Quite enlightening.

People don’t realize the amount of sacrifice our life partners have to make to facilitate us artists putting in everything possible to make this career possible. Sometimes it feels like it borders on the selfish. And obviously, makes a good case for why it’s so important to communicate in healthy ways and be present in the relationships we do have. Being an artist requires you to withdraw yourself so often, it’s all too easy to let relationships break down. But they’re everything. Thanks for sharing your opinion on fanart. I’ve been battling with it, wondering whether I can balance it as an option for also attempting to table at conventions and sell prints of things that people would actually recognize. But I’m still a new junior to the industry, and wonder if that’s a mistake to shift to fanart stuff rather than exercising all-original, design-heavy work for acquiring jobs in the industry. I do think that if you use fanart just as a way to practice concept art-style work, but make it fit in-universe or make something really special, it can hopefully still work.

Dave Rapoza and Daniel Warren! I learned a lot from Daniel during the crimson dagger days. Awesome talk, Jose, and Damian! Love the talk on fan art, and specifically concept fan art for portfolio/skill building, it's the easiest way to get pumped about something (at least for me).

Dave Rapoza is simply amazing, I watch his streams and don’t even know how he’s making the marks he makes. Like he’s on another plane of existence, haha
