Ah this answer warms my heart as a maths teacher! I wish more people would talk about maths this way... and know that maths is good and useful for everybody. And that although it doesn't come easy for everybody, it's not meaningless to learn. In fact, it helps us see more of the beauty of God through it. :)
I'm in college, for a B.A. of English. But even so, this message came as a powerful personal reminder, that HE sees what I can't, and my perseverance glorifies GOD.
I'm currently studying to get my PhD in quantum chemistry and you know Joshua, math makes me angry also 😂 I'm not a great details person, so I get very, very frustrated by all the convoluted equations. But I'm sticking with it because God made it and there are beautiful things about God's creation that are only visible through the lens of math.
As a student who use to hate maths , felt in love with it and got centum in my final exam and all credit goes to God and my teacher who helped me , hence I would encourage to never give up and pray for heavenly knowledge and God to provide a good teacher
Hi, Joshua! I'm a math teacher! I teach high school students with 15/16 years old and a lot of them don't know Math fundamental things. Those things you are learning nowadays. Then, you have to give your best to do it so we can't have difficulties as my studentes do. Believe me: many students are left back at the school because they don't know the fundamental things that you are learning. Actually, they didn't dedicate enough to do it. So, my little boy, take heart. Listen to your mom. You will see how beautiful and important Math is when you decide to study it with more interest and dedication. I believe in you. God bless you.
This question touched my heart. I've been loving math since I can count and I even tutor younger students in math. But now, as an engineering student in college, I struggle with it on a regular basis. Reminding myself of the ways that math can be glorifying to God is so necessary.
a lot of comments are encouragements for Joshua, but many just seem to encourage Joshua to change his attitude and try harder. I think the more important thing is to rely on God not on man. God will provide.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein."
I love the question inasmuch as the answer! Joshua is after the Lord's heart seeking Godly counsel even for such a matter as math. I am so blessed by this. I love the purity of the question!
Math just shows how amazingly intelligent our Creator is, that He has put these laws and principles to build the whole universe. For example, geometry, shows how God made our physical 3D universe in the 6 days.
I love this episode! This makes me realize that God made everything even Math for us to live happily for His glory. Also, this is the first episode I heard Desiring God answers a child's questions. And it makes this episode very relevant for all ages.
