Dan’s Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes about 3 1/2 dozen cookies
wet ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
dry ingredients:
1 cup sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 (6 oz) package (1 cup) semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 375F (Convection oven to 350F)
Cream together shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture, blending well. Add chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 375F oven 10-12 minutes. Remove from pan immediately. (I leave on my baking stone for 1 minute before I remove to a cooling rack.)
