Hi Stephanie, Thanks so much for all the great info you share here. I've really enjoyed many of your videos and always learn something new. Do you ever create content to share with potential clients/brands before you actually get them as a client in hopes of peaking their interest and showing them what you would be able to do for them? If so, I'd be interested in knowing how you go about showing your spec work to them and any feedback you have received. Thank you!!

Hi Mark - thank you so much for the kind words and I'm so glad to hear that the videos have been helpful. I've done quite a few personal projects using products and brands that I hope to work with in the future. There are many ways you can go about this - sharing on social media and tagging them or sending the post as a message and introducing yourself is a great start. In some cases they've asked if they can reshare the photo or they'll request more information to keep on hand when they're ready for a shoot, but that's a great way to start building a connection.

Yes, definitely follow up! Let me know if you hear back from any of them. I do quite a bit of cold outreach to clients I've never worked with - 2 of them from this video were actually brand new clients for me. Would love to put together a video on pitching if you have specific questions, but most of the time my emails include a brief intro, why I'm interested in working with them and an idea or two that I think would work well for their brand. Thank you for watching! Make sure you've done thorough research on the brand and I'd definitely try their product if you haven't before reaching out. I always like to start with a quick intro of my business and what I do as well as what I love about their brand. Then I'll typically ask if they have any needs currently or if there's an upcoming project I can help with. This stage is really about establishing a connection more than signing them on for a project, so give them an idea of what you do, share your work and they'll likely keep your information on file for the next time they need a photographer. Just don't forget to follow up :)
