this is a good idea for parked vehicles...but carjackings are on the rise in the states, and they wait for you to be in your vehicle before taking it...and it's very difficult to pull either one of these w/a gun in your face...why I rely on a kill switch bcuz it's just easier/faster in a pinch

We all have our individual idea's. Nothing wrong with that. What would be even better is a socket pin adapter with a programmable digital switch that is tied to your key fob so you can auto turn it off disabling the same relay without ever removing it. Now THAT would be sweet. On the Fuel pump fuse, a simple kill switch rigged to it does the same thing without the hassle of opening it up every time you wanna disconnect the fuel pump. Just tap the power wire from the fuse and install a kill switch. I do like electronic switches, but, typically they are not as long lasting as a mechanical switch..............and you have to be slightly knowledgeable about what you are doing. A "Special Port" select able on the keyfob, could cover both of these functions with a DPDT relay. BMW are you listening?

Nice one bro, the full gone in 60 seconds avoided - in saying that would it not be easier to put a hidden switch in the vehicle on the fuel pump power line making it easier to prevent any start as stated; you’re correct just a somewhat different/easier approach? Takes all the fun out of battering those that attempt the 60 seconds deal 😁✌🏽🇦🇺

Yeah...used to do this stuff on me old ford Cortina...used 2 hidden switches...the first one was easy to find...then they robbed my batteries for spite...

Whoa whoa whoa pull up, you’re getting all confused between positive and negative - the doctor shall explain better than I, but when you’re talking vehicles of that vintage you need to ground the points - sorry champ it’s no wonder you needed 2 switches ✌🏽 all in good spirits 👍

Hey Dean, I was going to ask you why your speedometer had MPH over the top of KPH but I looked into it first and learned your speed limits are actually written in MPH rather than KPH. Thus bringing me to a different question: England uses primarily the Metric system as does most of the free world outside the United States, so why would you change course and use MPH for your speed limits? Genuinely curious to know. I own a 2010 550i M sport and a 2013 328i m sport and I started watching your videos after purchasing my first BMW. Thanks for all your knowledge and know how as I have had great use with some of the things I've learned from you. Keep doing what you do bro, it's much appreciated!

Hello mate, In the UK we never fully converted all measurements back in the 70’s I think. Example- I’m mid forties and was brought up through school measuring length,weight of an object (not people though) in metric but when it comes to speed and my weight and height I wouldn’t have a clue in metric. Bloody weird isn’t it! As for my parents generation it was yards feet pounds and inches (I tend to use both) never meters centimeters kilograms. I think we (UK) kind of rebelled and didn’t adopt the full metric system when we joined what was then called the EEC- that evolved into the European Union

I think the relay thing is good if you leaving the car for a long time like going on holiday or something but I wouldn't want to that every time I get in and out the car

But the thing is you can do it all the time and it wont damage the car in ANYWAY it just shuts off the main power supply to all electronics so the car cannot be accessed via a diagnostics machine , key cloning machine or be able to start as the CAS receives no signal with that removed

If you feel that you have to do something like this in order to decrease (or eliminate) the chance of it being stolen every time you leave your vehicle, you're better off lookin into a safer place to live first!

Would it not make more sense to just buy a Faraday bag for your keyfob instead of pulling relays? Surely this way is far more practical especially for elder ppl and non tech savy drivers? Just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

Buy and use a Faraday bag but don't rely on it because when we take the keyfob out of the bag that is when thieves standing nearby in the road who are targeting the car can pick up the key signal and copy the key's code, then coming back to steal it.

I’m definitely messing you about it’s a G 31 2018 plate state 3 L diesel I travel with emergency call system not available on the dashboard I’ll replace the battery in the headliner but the fault is still there is there anything else I can do Instead of going to the garage and pay lots of money thank you sorry for the other two messages

E46 has fuel pump relay behind the glovebox, totally inaccessible!!! You need to be a contortion artist to try to just SERVICE the damn relay box.... I was planning to do a hidden KILL SWITCH, which would allow the starter to turn, but would not allow the fuel pump to work. I would love to have DR DEAN to show us how to install that, as this would be much more convenient than pulling fuses and relays. As usual, GREAT SUBJECT, GREAT VIDEO Dr. D, 🇨🇦. Subscribed!

It’s a good idea however I wouldn’t want to be disturbing trims etc on my car not to mention the inconvenience. Would rather have an immobiliser fitted. What’s the point in scrimping on an expensive car. If you can’t afford it then buy a fiesta. A crook lock is the best deterrent! Very difficult to remove. Cars are easier to steal these days due to the electronic steering lock being deactivated. You can’t do that on a mechanical steering lock without physically breaking it hence why a crook lock is the best. That’s coming from someone who programs bmw keys for a living.

Well I can assure you right now with this pulled you won’t be programming ANY key and that’s for sure I program them also and I have the best upon best tools for that and let me tell you when this is pulled there is no communication to any of the modules so doesn’t mean because you program keys you can program a key with that pulled trust me go and try and come back to me 😁

@@BMWDoctor I NEVER said you could program keys with the relay removed?? Where does it say that? What I’m saying is very very simple. Get a crook lock, that way you won’t have to mess with relays and fuses. You are a very clever guy Dean, in this instance I don’t agree with you or the information you are passing out. There are a lot of idiots out there who would pull wrong fuses and relays causing further issues. Some insurance companies favour crook locks and pass a discount, I haven’t heard of any doing the same for removing relays and fuses. Try and let me know if you do😃

I feel what your saying trust me BUT no need for a crook lock when they ain’t getting away full stop with removing that no need to even ring insurance to lower it as the car won’t be going anywhere unless they bring a tow truck and not even a tow truck can put it on the bed unless they get a crane to life it up as the ELV is enabled and cannot be released 😁 which makes this car unmoveable

No you are right but I suppose that’s what I’m here for to give these people electrical knowledge on these cars right ? That’s why I’m showing on the video how it works instead of just talking about how to do it or telling someone I mean everyone can make there own mind up about it but I believe this is the best avoidable way especially if your having to leave your car so far away from you.
