Thank you so much for watching this video, especially to the end. Let me know what you think about Doja Cat’s past and current anti-black actions in the comments. Also, I’m going to see if I can buy a new microphone (maybe in October OR November). Thanks to @🐸 Jeremiah for letting me know on my audio quality! I know the microphone I am using is not the best. In the meantime, I can increase the volume a bit more while I edit. Lastly, like and share (if you want) the video. Okay, mi gente? Ok. Peace mi genteeeeeeeeee✌🏾📌!

Even Doja shedding her THICK girl aesthetic and becoming a skinny hardcore satanist girl is her dissociating with the black community imo (I'm a skinny black girl so I don't mean that because she's skinny now that means she's anti-black. It just looks like she's distancing herself from stereotypical black girl ideals)

So I’m going to just put this out there as a biracial woman myself. Being biracial naturally means you’re often gonna be seen as an outsider to both races you are, HOWEVER, if you are biracial and have never ever been exposed to black culture a day in your life asides from what you saw on TV, a Doja Cat is what you fucking get. She grew up around white people, only had white friends, and that’s legit all she knows. Suburban white culture. She doesn’t know black people; it’s always been evidence from the mere way she raps like a caricature of off her black women rappers. But I honestly believe in 2023, black people seriously need to drop that one drop rule too. Being biracial means you’re half black and half white, not black just cause you don’t look white. The experience of a biracial person could never ever compare to a black person so why y’all keep claiming us anyways and why do we got these biracial women celebrities claiming to be black ?
@JulianSteve
@JulianSteve Год назад
Thank you for sharing your perspective, Amber. Yeah, I noticed that she has a particular way of rapping, but I do like it. However, I noticed that too. Her being raised by her White side and mostly hanging out with White people is news to me. As for the “one drop rule,” especially in the United States it needs to go for sure👏🏾!
@fillealienne
@fillealienne Год назад
I feel like Doja cat artistically she wanted to be claimed by black people (because black music is what's popular, even though you can clearly see her influences and how she botches it) but I feel like as a person she wants to be claimed as white and thats clear by the self hate and antiblackness that she displays. My only thing is we never really claim these people it's just that we make them popular for white audiences to then claim them, which in return we get people who display antiblackness behavior when we build them up to what they are 🤷🏾‍♀️ idk you don't have to choose because being biracial is such a spectrum and a beautiful thing, but I feel like it's bad when you use it artistically and basically just act like your something your not (she does this through her corny music 🤧)

You need to study history. I agree about the one drop rule but go read Jared Sextons work on identifying as biracial (socially) is antiblack. Also read the history of how traitorous biracial ppl have been to black ppl. Then read about some of the most problack fighters for us have been biracial. It’s not just about your parents it’s about your ideology and politics. Yall love to play the tragic mulatto card as if black people and yt ppl are on the same level as it relates to power. It’s a false equivalence. So of sociopolitically you don’t wanna be black then cool but don’t act like black ppl not accepting you is for the same reason yt ppl don’t. One is a racist reason the other is to protect themselves.
@myahancock4502
@myahancock4502 6 месяцев назад
Absolutely. Being biracial means you not only have two different races, but a mixed mind-set as well. I have nothing against Doja embracing her Jewish half, but anyone can see that she is a legit yellow one by look. I’m not saying she had to embrace that side at all, it’s her decision. I just don’t appreciate her lack of respect for her African American heritage . She is a beautiful, unique, biracial woman who is constantly highlighting both sides of her heritage through her music as well as her personality. Directly or indirectly doesn’t matter. When she raps you hear the black side, when she sings you hear the white side.
@theamazingdoubleA

Tbh this is why I say we can expect biracial with black people to be apart of the community but idk how realistic it is to hold them to black ways of thinking. Especially when they don’t grow up in a home with their black parent. It’s honestly a very slippery slope I’m not so sure how we get out of this far along in the history of America specifically.

You’re right tbh. I think people were much more aware of this in past. Blackness is something that gets “sprung” upon people and has always been regarded as a social and genetic handicapped. Almost in the sense that “adopting” or being “accustomed” to ways of live associated with white people isn’t enough to claim whiteness. And because whiteness has an element of social advantage, it’s guarded more heavily. Like if someone is 10-20% black, why do you expect them to act black, especially if they’ve never experience blackness? It’s not that you want them to display a cultural closeness, but rather to enforce a sense of inferiority onto them. Which why light people have always sort of avoid “blackness”, because it’s impossible for them to “earn” whiteness.
@LiveRealityandStopTheBullshit
Blackness is blackness, whiteness is nothing and pretty is pretty. Pretty people don't know what it's like to be black. White people know what it's like to be black more than a pretty woman does lol.
@badgirlhollywood9741

Because black people are self hating. No one else on the planet thinks that way. Even some white people have said “the one drop rule is stupid” black men like the one drop rule so he can stick his manhood in a woman without feeling guilty that she’s basically white with black ancestry. Then he wants to hang his head in shame his child looks white. Stop with the one drop rule it’s stupid. Maybe I guess the racism that goes along with it (being part black) is the thing.

I have never listened to a full Doja Cat album. I only enjoyed certain singles here and there but that TinyChat scandal made me lose interest. Urban Black culture has been commodified for so long in this country and it annoys me when folks (including Black folks) who ain’t from the hood co-opt our lingo and aesthetics for profit so that has always made me side-eye Doja. As far as her talent goes, Doja is signed to a label which gives her access to pick songs from the top producers in the industry. Doja is a trained dancer so it’s easy for her to wow people with her performances and it doesn’t take much to impress folks these days since so many new artists struggle performing on stage due to lack of talent or lack of artist development. Doja knows what she’s doing and honestly I ain’t mad at her. Her being a light skinned biracial woman makes her marketable and she (along with Latto and Ice Spice) proves this over and over again. They can never do anything that would “cancel” them. There are Black folks right now defending self-proclaimed Afro-Latina Erica Mena for her racist comments toward dancehall legend Spice so Black Americans allow the anti-Blackness to be perpetuated by biracial/mixed race women. They can do wrong but all is easily forgotten or folks will come up with excuses. During the tinychat issue, folks were blaming Doja’s dad being absent from her life as the root of her anti-Blackness. All she had to do was affirm herself as a “Black woman” and she was able to slip out of that controversy so easily. I don’t ever see myself being a fan of hers. She can miss me with all that demon talk too. I’m a Christian and I rebuke all that in the Name. Get behind me Satan-Doja lol Another great video and I hope all is well mi hermano.

JOHNIEEEEEEEE, thank you for commenting THIS! I am noticing the pattern with biracial (mixed with Black) and non-black artists profiting off of their closeness to Blackness. Then, when they do something that is extremely problematic, the backlash is minimal. Not saying all, but most for sure. As for Erica Mena, she’s not Afro-Latina, but she sure knows how to cosplay as a biracial (mixed with Black) well. Even though, I always knew Erica Mena is a non-black Latina from NYC. Look at how her parents look? Back to Doja, yeah. She’s talented, but for sure has major anti-black issues on full display for us to see. Which is why calling her out is important regardless how mad she gets or her super fans🤷🏾‍♂️💯

@@JulianSteve you’re welcome Mr. Julian. I’m glad all is well 🤗 Doja’s super fans need to get mad at her because she clearly doesn’t respect them or care about them. That entitled brat attitude she has also gets on my nerves. She feels her talent gives her license to treat folks any kind of way. But she needs to recognize that she has a machine behind her with a lot of money so it’s not just her talent that has made her famous. Nevertheless her fans are praising her VMA performance so I guess her fans don’t really care how she treats them smh.

😂 satan doja🤣 seriously though I agree with ALL of this, honestly we are partially at fault for absolving mixed biracial and light skinned folk of accountability. We have to COLLECTIVELY and actively advocate against this but I feel part of it comes from seeing these people as honorary white people who we only coddle because we feel they validate our black spaces, community, and culture, due to the fact they aren’t completely black..it’s sad honestly, but it starts with us! We set the bar so low when it comes to the unconditional support we give, and little respect we receive in return. I too remember the whole tiny chat incident and how everyone made it about her father, and I couldn’t help but think about Azalea Banks and how little grace we have for her in comparison to Doja. Both have their issues and both are immensely talented, but yet only one is shown a certain level of grace compared to the other..

Tbh I’ve been having a weird relationship with Doja cat for a while mainly bc I do think she’s talented and I like her music but her personality and the way she’s been able to get away with a lot of things. That chatroom drama case is crazy how she was able to get away with but it also made me realize how much black folks have never been her hardcore fanbase tbh I mean her managers even said they wanted her to be in the same group as Ariana grande, lady Gaga and Katy Perry and less with Nicki Minaj and Megan thee stallion so … yeah. But she continued capitalizing and appropriating from black culture with trademark AAVE words, her song n-words ain’t ish (which I actually like her no lie) that’s weird bc she dates exclusively white men so who are the n-words she’s referring to? and i especially it felt like she’s been weaponized by alot of non black hip hop fans as a foil to talk mess on a lot of black hip hop female artists most notably Megan thee stallion. Ebro from hot97 have been campaigning her to be seen as the queen of rap for the culture but Ebro spent years telling black rappers like lil Uzi vert, Nicki Minaj, lil yatchy etc that they aren’t real hip hop what makes Doja any differences from them?? Seriously “it’s getting weird” (in my nene leakes voice) But the way she been treating her fans recently have really taken the cake I’m not gonna knock her for the guy she’s dating yeah she’s trash and not a good person but regular people date, be friends and associate themselves with people who don’t have a moral compass themselves I just didn’t like her response to the backlash as she was so mean and disrespectful to not only her fans but people who were victims of her ex boyfriend predatory past just crazy to me I just Doja is a girl with identity crisis who’s been way too spoiled by everyone from her fans to the media who will never deal with consequences

What’s more crazy is Ebro is biracial (mixed with Black) like Doja Cat. So, the solidarity shouldn’t surprise me there. I didn’t thought about discussing her place in Hip Hop and the politics behind her music career. As for the “Ain’t Shit” song. I like it, but I agree with you. It’s weird that she’s making a song with the n-word being on full display as a biracial (mixed with Black) women who exclusively dates White men. I thought it was a reference to Black men like her father, but in the context of the song it doesn’t sound like it.

The level of expectations in this video, honestly, is overwhelming. She is expected to both respect her blackness and know what black lane to be in WITHOUT having her father or a black community's support to teach her said rules. Then she must also remember she's not FULL black which is so...outcasting. It screams you're not welcome here. My adopted brother was half black and his life was VERY hard having grown up in a white family in a very white small town. You really have to ask yourself how important pleasing others is to you because you'll never make everyone happy. As for her boyfriend, it sounds like she's in a bad relationship and she'll eventually figure that out for herself. Then if she does date someone black, there's all the "he's dating a light-skinned black woman" bs. I don't want to support anyone who is toxic but it seems like all this controversy is stemming from her having to deal with toxic fans and having to make her own rules for who she should be.
@4dbagel945
@4dbagel945 15 дней назад
The issue isn’t that she doesn’t act “black” enough for the community or whatever that means, but that she intentionally defines herself in opposition to being black. She doesn’t want to be perceived as thick, so she gets skinny. She doesn’t like her natural hair so she covers it up with a straight haired wig. She doesn’t like the idea of dating a black man so she dates exclusively white guys. She doesn’t want to be seen as black because of her apparent internalized racism. If your adopted brother talked about disliking hip hop and intentionally only listened to white country singers, then you might reasonably assume that he had some issues with internalized racism. Doja cat could still wear straight blonde hair and date 100 more white guys, but if she also showed off her natural hair sometimes or dated a Mexican or Egyptian guy once in a while I think less people would notice or care. The problem is that it has become a pretty obvious pattern of behavior. It’s also kind of shitty to assume that the person making this video intends to make Doja cat to act more black to solve these problems. That’s clearly not the intention of this video, and the way you misrepresented it speaks to your own personal biases. Is it really outcasting when someone in your demographic intentionally distances themselves from being considered a part of your demographic?
