It’s funny because you don’t see non black people supporting biracials the way Black people do. Really disappointing to learn this about HER.

For real Shaunda. It's crazy how much we go out of our way to support them and they sneak diss us like this. Not saying all biracial Black entertainers do this, BUT it's common. I am seeing the pattern.

Just add, really depends if you are male or female. The male when "pure" black or that identifies himself as black (dark skin one) normally they are more famous and easily recognisable than the mixed/light skinned; very different from the female with dark skin complexion.

In regards to HER, mixed children grow up with Black folk and their Black daddies gassing them up as better looking people compared to monoracial Black children. So they grow up with delusional superiority complex. I think HER talks about her Filipino side more because if you look at her, she doesn’t give that stereotypical mixed look. She looks just Black. So in special cases like hers, she wants to emphasize she’s not JUST Black.

i'm not surprised H.E.R made those tweets (and probably still thinks the same way) back then. her mum being filipino and her dad being black pretty much explains everything. anti-blackness and putting mixed-raced/light skinned people on a pedestal breeds weird behaviour like that. i wonder how she feels about the little coverage and appreciation she gets in the filipino community. lol, i guess she's not better than anyone 💀. as for chika, i only know a little about her but she's still a sad case lol.

Ugh where would I begin. I don't like Chika because her personality is just horrible and the fact she disrespects parents kids is just rude. I don't care if she got mental health or issues that don't mean to be rude about anything or anybody. As for H.E.R I am surprised because she shows off as a peaceful person. I am just curious as to why she put it under the rug instead of addressing/apologizing to her fans that look up to her.

Chika has a lot of reflecting to do. It doesn’t make sense because she’s a conscious rapper, but conscious rappers are not perfect too. As for H.E.R., I want her to address the controversies too, but I know she’s not. It’ll have to go viral to the point that she’s pressured into addressing her blasian mixing fetish. I said “blasian mixing fetish” because that’s the best way to describe those 2014 tweets🤣!

nice discussion.🙌🏿 i'm honestly not shocked at h.e.r.'s antiblkness as this is unfortunately common among mixedrace people. what i do agree with is mixedrace people who are part blk actually acknowledging their nonblk side as we often never see this among them, especially when antiblk mixedrace people are often the main ones who utilize their blk american side to excuse their antiblkness. disclaimer: this will ruffle feathers.🥴 i want to mention that saying "biracial blk" is an oxymoron as one can be either biracial (even when having blk admixture) or blk. basically, one can't be bi/multi/polyracial & monoracial at the same time. it also reinforces double standards as no one ever says "biracial azn(which h.e.r. is)" or "biracial hwite."

I'm a fan of HER's music, but I don't know much about her personal ideology and stance on Blackness. I have noticed in a couple of her interviews that she talks about her Filipino side. I wonder if she addresses it because -- unless a person knows her background -- most folks may automatically think that she is monoracial. She may think that there's nothing to explain about her Blackness, because it's pretty apparent that it's a part of her heritage. She is also an artist whose whole musical persona is drenched in Blackness. So, she may speak more about her Filipino heritage, so that folks can know that it is a part of her ethnic makeup and because there isn't much Filipino representation in U.S. entertainment. As for her 'Black and Asian folks make the prettiest babies' Tweets, yes, that's a tired mindset that many folks who are mixed race -- and not -- believe. Hopefully, she has progressed in her thinking.

As far as HER, I'm kinda glad I'm learning this now and not when those EPs came out 😂. I was (still am) a HUGE fan of those EPs/demos she released. As a music/R&B head, I think it's some of the best alternative/contemporary r&b of our generation and because of that I was OBSESSED with her 😂. Great music and I loved the sexy, mysterious persona. With that being said, I hate the album. Most disappointing debut album ever 😂 (tied w Tinashe IMO). The collab with CB was the first red flag for me. Then the album came out and all the lil rappers on there irked my nerve. It's just such a bad album it broke my heart 😂 I haven't been able to forgive her yet and learning about those tweets didn't help. We're the same age and at that time I was very aware of colorism, racism, xenophobia, etc so idk 😕 sure her parents probably set her up for the ignorance but if imma be a fan, I want you to be intelligent enough to think for yourself and see thru the bs. Or once you learn better, be as public with your new thoughts as you were with the bullsh!t back in the day. And the fact that she hasn't addressed any of those things yet and has worked with some of the people she's worked with makes me feel like, even if she was to come out and address the problematic past, she wouldn't be doing it sincerely, she'd be doing it for optics. Bc black ppl, *blk women* are paying her bills and she gotta save face.
@JulianSteve

Thank you so much for saying your honest opinion on H.E.R. I liked the album believe it or not lol! Only a few of the songs sounded bad or okay to me. I was going to mention the Chris Brown collaborations because she collaborated with him a bunch of times. Plus, his track record on you know what…. Then, I thought, “Let me focus on these Tweets and IG comments.” You do make a valid point about knowing better as an adolescent. Great vids julien I really stopped Chika a long time ago I remember when she first began popular she went on a whole rant on Twitter talking about how black Americans culturally appropriating from African culture by wearing African attire at afro punk festivals in NYC but then in 2021 when SNL got backlash for their Gen Z hospital sketch where they were appropriating AAVE she came on Twitter to claim AAVE is for every black person outside of the black American community and got rightfully so dragged and her anti black American sentiments got brought up. From then on I’ve stopped rocking her and always saw as a nasty rude person who weaponize her mental illness to default from taking personal responsibility and growth for her issues so I wasn’t surprised or shocked on how she went off tiny’s grandkids it was definitely on brand for her. I feel Chika needs to stop being on social media and focus on improving her mental health whenever she’s going though a episode/moment it’s always better to express yourself in ways that are much healthier than ranting on Twitter knowing you are a big celebrity

I can understand that Chika would have this bitter, antagonistic mindset because society does not treat people who look like her well, at all. But, to become a public, well known hater and mean person does anything but make it easier for you in life. She acts like someone who has unchecked mental health/childhood trauma issues. As far as "HER" I had no idea she was mixed race but I've never been a huge fan anyhow. People like her who say those things while still a minor usually have anti-black parents to begin with and they have heard the horrible comments from those people all their lives. If you are confident you don't have to put others down. Who knows if she does not think that way. It doesn't seem plausible that she would be welcomed in the Asian/Filipino community as she has been in the black community so I would tread lighly if I were her.

I’m sure H.E.R still feels the same way she just got sense enough and have been admonished by her public relations people to keep her mouth shut or talk a lot about her blackness for her fan base. ( predominately black) After all….. that’s her bag. I’m not surprised at this and not only do and Asians are not the other group of people who look down on their blood being mixed with blacks….. All other races do too. Only black peoples idolize their blood being mixed, because of our self-hatred for our hair, lips, wide noses and darker skin tones. This won’t stop, until we continue to breed ourselves out and we can become Europeans. Lol

Chika’s behavior is disappointing especially when she had a lot of folks rooting for her. Nothing can excuse the disgusting posts about kids; however, I do feel most folks feel they can post any and everything they think and feel on Twitter. I used to be the same way until coworkers spying on my page saw what I was writing about them. That’s when I realized it’s a public forum and not a diary/journal to vent about everything that’s going on in my life and work. I hope she continues to seek help and learn to monitor what she posts on social media since she is an entertainer and public figure. As for H.E.R., friends of mine don’t like that I’ve always felt something disingenuous about her (pun intended). Even the pro-Black song that won her an Oscar felt performative to me. I feel HER, like Donald Glover, recognizes that appearing pro-Black is marketable at this moment but they’re totally different behind closed doors. Her being biracial has opened doors for her in the industry that are shut to Black (non-Biracial) women especially dark-skinned Black women. I believe she is super talented but her persona comes off as fake to me. Anywhoo lol great video once again Mr. Julian.
