my claim 2 fame is back in the 80"s i was working in a carpet store when Mick Brown walks in and orders some carpet! i was sooo in awe that i couldn't even talk to him! (i was a huge Dokken fan by then) anyway he leaves, i look out the window and he drives off in a brand new burgundy corvette with "DOKKEN"on the license plate!!! BAD-ASS!!
Its sad. Don said in an interview that around 2010 he was doing a tour in Europe. And he started having this weird taste in his throat like iron. It turns out it was blood. He went to the doctor and they said you blew a vocal cord, and you need to stop the tour NOW, and have surgery immediately. He DIDN'T, and did the last 10 shows - permanently injuring his voice forever. He did get the surgery eventually, but the damage had been done. This guy at his peak - around 1988, was one of the best screamers and rock singers there ever was. But the only reason they did this was for money. Don and George can't stand each other, and Don looks like he is bored on stage. But you're cheating the fans with this vocal performance. He used to be a 9/10, this was like a 4/10. Sad.
I love dokken they are awesome band.i grew up listening to their songs.i don't care how dokken sings now as long the song is the same tq all of u in dokken
i've meet George Lynch. kind of a prick! seemed very tired of being recognized. this was just a few years ago . . . .. . . shit he probably is ur just not supposed to let the pubic think that dumbass! lol!
Mick seems really cool! i've met him at 1 of the bars here in phoenix. short hair and everything! lol! i never told him about the carpet store. didn't wanna seem like a dork! lol! btw dude, Maiden rocks!
gregoryvanhalen what’s with all the Don is done shit? The man blew his vocals. The mans just doing what he loves ease up is all I’m sayings. Lynch is still kicking ass btw
Fuck. He's done for sure. Playing acoustic show in Houston tonight. I'll have to pass. Have seen them and him 15 times since '84. I have my memories and RU-vid \m/\m/
I just watched this song from 1999 wit Reb Beach on guitar and don still has some fire in him, watching these "reunion" shows it seems like Don just doesn't give a fuck anymore.
Don SHOULD take over on the Bass and let Jeff Sing!! That Way the FANS Get the Best Possible Performance from the Band! There are MANY Metal Singers that STILL Have Their Voices TODAY. I'm Sure if they Couldn't continue Singing LIVE(Brian Johnson) they Would STILL WANT the Fans to Be Entertained to the FULLEST at Shows!!
Isn't that what Don is essentially doing with the current version of Dokken by having 2 hired guns (Jon Levin and Mark Boals) in place of George Lynch and Jeff Pilson?
Kapn Krude the most recognizable member of most bands will always be the lead singer. Replace them and it's not the same. Rarely has a band replaced a lead singer and had better or sustainable success.
Nice to see them together... but Don's voice..? It was a lazy performance. .. sure he can't hit some of the notes but even the lower notes are being virtually spoken...
Don has zero enthusiasm anymore, need to get him a Walmart scooter to cruise around the stage on. Can't sing worth beans...Cool to see original lineup though, Lynch, Pilson, and Wild Mick still kill it \m/
I saw Dokken back in the summer of 2000 when it was 3/4 of the classic lineup with Reb Beach on guitar. Don looked bored even then. He just casually strolled out on stage, wearing all black with black sunglasses, propped his foot up on one of the floor monitor wedges, leaned into the mic, and basically looked and acted like a 3rd-rate Jim Morrison. I'm sure he'd rather be back at the old-folks home drinking prune juice and watching Matlock reruns! LOL!
Killer tune. Not sure why Lynch is using a Fender or whatever. Doesn't have the bite or pinch harmonics like an ESP or Jackson. Check out Kiss of death Live Philadelphia 87.
Saw them in Merriweather (MD) with a different guitarist a few years ago. The band sounded killer, Don spent more time pointing his mic at the audience to sing his parts. He looked like Marlon Brando and seemed lethargic. The other bands (Extreme & Ratt) looked healthy and sounded great. Sad.
Don used to have one of the best voices in rock but too much smoking and stroking his own ego has left him with a very limited vocal range , lizard lounge range is what I think they called it! George on the other hand, absolutely killing it!!!
After so many years since Back album. Don Dokken is the lamest..the rest of the band is holding ground..but Don didn't hit one high note thru out entire song...and their in Eb tuning..reminds of DLR of VH talking through songs of Epic portion...this band ended cuz Don is douche..looks like he's put several buffets out of biz too..lol.
Ouch. Man Im sorry I came to watch this. Don should not be singing anymore. The rest of the band is great but the voice is totally gone. I hate this so much.
Ill never understand why anyone would use a Fender anything live..you can use them in the studio, because you can manipulate the tone, but LIVE? come on
