I don't know why Back for the Attack isn't heralded more. It was the best Dokken record and one of the best of any band at that time. I agree, 1987-1989 was the absolute pinnacle of the era.

It's like a competition between George and Don. Who can be a bigger individual instead of a band member. As a new guitar player, I'd go to a show to hear my guitar God play the solos I've been slaving over in front of my face, and it's something else. It's like, wtf was that? That's not on the record. That's not in the lick ive I've been learning.

Lynch has some of the craziest licks if you ever break them down. Almost like he's playing 3d chess on a guitar, while most others are only playing checkers. I'm also noticing Don used to have a little Klaus Meine, and a little Rob Halford, maybe even a little Helloween in his voice... seems to come out more live.

Don was losing his voice by Back for The Attack. Arrogant prick!!! He saved his steams and talked through most songs.. Lynch is on the money on this tour. Don't know why he changed his tone later on? Progressively got bad. Added phaser to all his solos trying to be a VH clone. Back for the Attack is the sickest guitar tone IMO. Rhythm and lead tone delay is monsterous!!!!

They were horrific live. Sounded nothing like the record. Ever hear Scorpions live? I started playing hair guitar in 1985. George is my favorite player, by far, but he changes schitt up live, and it drives me f ing insane. It's like he's got hyperactivity disorder.

With the drum set so close to the front of the stage, you know that once again they were not headlining this show.
