Dolby Atmos and 4K! Godzilla Minus One Streaming on Netflix 

What a huge coup for NETFLIX! I couldn't wait to watch, so had watched it after family went to bed with my headphones on. Trust me I'll be watching again tomorrow in Atmos. The best movie I've seen in 2024 . FANTASTIC

I just watched it on Apple TV. I will get it on 4K blu ray. It was for me, the greatest Godzilla movie and maybe the greatest monster movie of all time. Great, compelling human story. Great monster origin story Great (Oscar winning). effects Absolutely mind blowing they made this for only 15 million, which isn't even an actors salary for the $200 million+ junk Hollywood has been churning out. A reminder that characters, story and quality is more important than just wasting money on big stars and still having bad CGI.

I missed this in the theatre because the IMAX screening had a short window. Been waiting for a UK release date ever since... What a surprise and treat to suddenly find it available on Netflix, out of the blue! 😊

I saw it on Netflix and was stunned they managed to get it that I hadn’t seen in theatres. There was no hype over it that i know as all the hype seems to be over Beverly Hills Cop 4 on Netflix. The ending of course leaves sequel possibilities so we can enjoy more of them for this forever franchise.

I'll wait til the 4k comes out. I not going waste time on Streamimg. It is totally Low quality in picture & sound. Streaming Atmos means nothing it is Still Compressed audio. So, u are not getting the full Atmos sound such a waste of time. I'll wait to get the Full benefit of the disc....

With the Netflix 4k subscription in the UK. The film played the original language & Atmos automatically. I didn't need to change a thing. The quality is super, especially the Atmos track. The movie is outrageous. I still don't know how it was managed on a 15m budget.

Saw it yesterday. It was awesome! So happy when I saw it on Netflix. Gave me distinct "Jaws" vibes, since the focus was more on a great story, instead of showing off the cgi. The character arc of the main protagonist was great!

This is a very good movie with some of the best Dolby Atmos there is, I live in Japan and own it on 4K UHD. I’ll have a review of it on my -chan- 👈🏻 soon

Great commentary. I just had my iPad and a Sony Bluetooth speaker 🔊 and the sound quality was superb.

Apple 4K TV has it today as well as Fandango, I think I’ll go with the Apple streaming version as it’s always the best quality with my system. $ 14.99 ain’t bad but a double dip is on its way as I’ll get the physical copy If and when its released

I live in Scotland, we watched it 4 times in theatre, yesterday on netflix 4k yesterday it was just as awesome in English! But of course even more awesome in Japanese🥰

I didn’t know that. I’m watching it right now, and made the switch to Japanese with subtitles, and changed to Dolby Atmos. I was watching the dubbed version, listening in DTS: Neural X. I have to say even in that format, it was sounded pretty damn good. Now, I will hear what the Atmos track sounds like!

“All Is Quiet On The Western Front” was the same way on Netflix. For the Atmos track you needed to change the language to German and turn on English subtitles.

This was a nice surprise. I fired it up the other night. But was slightly disappointed to have it be in 5.1. I found this video. I'm going to have to switch it to Japanese dial + sub tiles to check it out. Thank you.

The excellent sound quality of Godzilla Minus One on Netflix was immediately noticeable. Dialog: Dialog in many modern movies can be muddy or buried by other sounds. In G-1, the clarity of the dialog was amazingly crisp (too bad I don’t speak Japanese.). Sound Effects: The sound effects offered the right punch to enhance the scale of destruction Godzilla was causing. Soundtrack: The score clearly stood out especially during the third act’s climax adding to the tension. As the credits rolled, I switched my language setting back to English and noticed a definite difference: with while listening to the score: louder with less dynamic range.

Greatest Godzilla movie ever made in our modern era, truly a masterpiece! Saw it twice in theaters with my soon to be wife, can’t wait to watch on Netflix again

And it dubbed!! What a shadow drop on streaming

I enjoyed myself a ton watching it in my home theater as well for the very first time! The Atmos was stellar ESPECIALLY THE HEIGHTS but lfe was definitely lacking despite the fact that I was watching it on Apple TV 4K. But this is where the 4K Blu-Ray will clear things up without a doubt.

I know you recommend the Japanese version. I have that on BluRay with English subtitles. But I watched the Netflix English language dub and it is excellent. It contains all the Japanese script not the abbreviated subtitles on the Japanese dub. Plus you can hear the inflection in the voices. Besides in English young children that can't read fast enough to keep up with writing can enjoy the film. It's nice Netflix is providing alternatives for everyone.

I dont have a Atmos setup…yet. So when a movie is in Atmos my Emotiva XMC-1 reverts to PCM 7.1 which is lossless and uncompressed and it sounds very dynamic. I will have to change the settings and see what happens. Fully enjoyed the movie. I guess the Japanese got tired of the Hollywood crap (including the latest movies) that has been made and pretty much said “We will show you how this is done 1 more time.” 😎

This was not my experience. I found it rather limp considering the type of movie it was. Some okay rumble with larger godzilla steps and blasts, but nothing impressive. And a complete lack of impact from other things (gunshots for example). I was very disappointed. And yes, it was the Japanese Atmos track (which required no settings changes). Then I watched the finale of 3 Body Problem, and despite not having a lot of action or anything was far more immersive and impressive.

The Dolby vision on Netflix looks way worse imho than the straight 4k HDR version on iTunes. The only nice thing is the multiple dubs which has an English track and it’s seems well acted but of course it’s better in the original Japanese.

What I don’t understand is why they changed the dialogue in the English subtitles. It’s completely different from the theatrical version.

As much as I'd love to utilize Atmos I don't like subtitles. But when my wife watches a movie with me, she always wants the subtitles on and I'm okay with that because I don't have to read them but if I have to change the language from English, then I won't get much enjoyment from the movie. I guess the best that I can hope for in this movie is that my two 15" subwoofers get a good workout. Lol

Fantastic movie! Thanks for the heads-up on the Atmos how-to for Netflix. WOW what a film. Great on so many levels. The plot and side story, the CGI, the audio, the acting, the...... I hope to follow other works by this studio and crew. Look out Hollyweird there's a new game in town and they are good.

They cut a screen when Godzilla use he’s atomic bomb on the city.they didn’t show that when it release on Netflix.

I think that improvement comes from being able to set the sound level and balance to your preferences. I always thought Pacific Rim 3-D at home on a projector with that sound tweaked to your home theater preferences is the best.

Watched it Dubbed, will rewatch in ATMOS on Sunday. I thought it sounded ok, looking forward to watching inAtmos.

They cut out so much from the original movie.

i always wonder why atmos or dolby surrounds are only avaiable in the recorded language. here in germany, we got very good translated and synchronized movies but then its only as stereo.

Not entirely correct. My Denon AVR reads the audio track as ATMOS + DD. Plus, the English dub is very well done. In fact, the translation is in a more common verbiage and it matches their lip movement very well. Also, Spatial Audio does not require the top tier subscription. Spacial Audio was designed for viewers that do not have a fancy hone theater set-up. Spatial Audio works on a basic 2 channel Audio set-up.

i was amazed watching it in my small 4.1 surround setup with my 55 oled tv. The picture quality and surround sound was incredible!

I’m not seeing it under my Netflix (in the U.S.) yet. Well, that trucks, no Atmos in the English version, unfortunately subs don't work for me; I'll have to wait for the 4K UHD disc.

Question: any idea how long this will stay on streaming, particularly Netflix? I want to hold off on it till next Saturday so I can watch it fresh with my buddy.

I don't get why when they already had a steller atmos mix, they couldn't just sub out the english dialog in that mix instead of dubbing the 5.1 I usually prefer dubs, reading subs pulls me out of the experience usually, but for this one I was willing to for the Atmos.

The English track seems to have the dubbed voices in all the speakers. It's terrible.

100% DO NOT WATCH the dubbed version. The voice overs will take you out of the movie.

Not into Atmos got a small living room and 5.1 sounds great, enough for me. So will watch Godzilla Minus Atmos

I donèt know whos horn this guy has to blow but I watched this movie last night and most of that was on fast forward. This is a shit movie with a shinny box cover don't waste your time. If you add up the total amount of time you are watching the monster during the entire movie it is less than ten minutes.
