I've read plenty about Atmos but still don't really understand why there is a need for objects and beds. If you have a panner on your track that can pan with height, that automatically mixes into the proper speakers - and if you have fold downs they probably work the same as the Dolby renderer places object tracks - so what is the benefit of an object track? Seems like unnecessary complication. I don't get why e.g. Pro Tools couldn't just mix down on its own..

Great video. I am sure you know, but the audio quality of your video is hard to listen to / hear. Very muffled and compressed sounding. However, your video, as always is great and really informative. Thanks, and sorry for the critique on the audio quality.

Great video !! I am a headphone mixer of Dolby entered newly in Dolby atmos mixing after some research!! Ur channel helped me alot!! One thing i want to ask is after a dolby mix i render a file but some streaming platform still support stereo wav files.. what’s the approach after a dolby mix? I mean mix is done -18LKFS then how to proceed for platforms.. do i need to create a stereo version and then master it.. so confusing!! Help on this

Hi :) any plans making more videos about dolby atmos in reaper?

Great video! Merci. Question, I was configuring Reaper using your videos. I noticed that the External Sync dropdown menu on the Renderer is grayed out. Can't change it. It is at LTC and it follows Reaper but can't change to anything else if I wanted.

Hi Patrice. Love your videos. Have you tried Logic Pro’s built in Dolby atmos feature? It’s what I use and like you said in this video I too would really like to use mostly if not all 3d object tracks but I’m forced to use all beds because any instrument tracks (audio seems to be ok) that I turn into 3d objects go out of synch (the audio is early). It’s driving me nuts to be honest and it doesn’t happen with Dolby atmos composer but I really don’t want to have to use Dolby atmos composer when atmos is already built into logic natively. Any ideas for a fix please Patrice?

@@CraigScottFrost I like logics atmos however if you try to use instrument tracks as 3d objects they go out of synch with one another. The only way to get them back in time is to select them all then record arn then all until you select one and it messes up again. Did you experience the same issue?

Thank you so much! we would love to know more in-depth mechanics of Penteo16 Pro plugin! One more question, After calibrating the speaker for dolby atmos do you use the attenuation knob in the renderer to control the overall volume or by linking the analogue outputs (using hardware).. am i missing something?

Thanks a lot for your kind words. Actually, I'm using an external hardware monitoring controller (from Trinnov), so I always let the DAR at full volume. But it's true that the attenuation knob might be used for this, but that would be quite risky to let the computer output directly to the speakers without any other form of control...

Thank you, great video. I have just some questions: If you want to create a Atmos file containing a bed and objects, how many channels should the masterfile contain?I suppose 12 Channels should be enough is this right? Does a emty project template for Atmos exist for reaper?
@ImmersiveAudioMixer
@ImmersiveAudioMixer 3 года назад
Hi Daniele, I'm not sure to understand your question. The Atmos master that will be generated by the DAR will contain all of the beds and objects that you actually used, no more, no less. So it really depends upon the way you've organized your mix, either with lots of elements in one bed and 2 objects which would effectively use 12 channels embedded in the atmos master file. Does that answer your question ?

@Immersive Audio Mixer Thank you. I have another question. You mentioned, that using the reasurround panner it is possible to send Sound to the elevation speakers. As far as I know, you can only send sounds to the elevation speakers using objects. Is this right?
@ImmersiveAudioMixer
@ImmersiveAudioMixer 3 года назад
@@danielecorciulo8779 No, using a bed you can send audio to all elevation speakers as shown at 7:50 with the ReaSurroundPan plugin :-) The difference is that you are then limited to left/right panning as the default Atmos bed only has 2 elevation channels regardless of the actual number of speakers to feed. Objects, when set to the smallest size (default) may end up in a single speaker thus allowing a front/back control on top on the left/right one.
