A new Dolby Atmos demo track has been released by the youtubers Techno Dad and Joe N Tell. I downloaded the file and Airplayed it to my AppleTV 4K in my Atmos Home Theater. It sounds amazing and had to share it.

AAAYYYYYY!!!! Glad you liked this one! It's really one of my favorites. I'll be involved in a Dolby Atmos Mixing night with some Grammy winners next week, you should definitely check that out. I bet there's going to be a lot of insight for the consumers during that show. Also, I may have another mix ready for Monday. Still working out the vocals. I love watching these videos of yours, it makes me feel like all the work we are putting in is being recognized. So...thank you for making these!

If you hava the 4k of They Live, there is a scene where a helicopter flys over head. The sound engineer for that mix must have broken the dials turning it up for the heights.. that is the one scene, there is NO DOUBT, whether or not Atmos channels are firing. If you know you know lol

It was amazing! You guys do great work! It’s a 145” 16:9 Will the magic beans work with my Anthem AVM70? If so, I will definitely give it a shot.

I believe so. I’ve only run the calibration a few times and pretty much just let it do its thing without too much modification

How many speakers? I’m building my theater right now and will have : LRC Front Fill Surround in the back Four in ceiling for Atmos Two subwoofers Will this configuration be comparable to your system

Your TechnoDad videos inspired me to get better acoustic treatment. I noticed that even with 7.1.6, I'm not hearing as good as you. I think it's because it's too noisy. I can hear the sounds, but not where everything is coming from. Wood floors, bare walls, and kitchen on the right, it all causes tons of reflections. Dampening that will be a huge help! I was hoping Dirac Live ART could fix it, but it's best to add _something_.

Acoustic treatment is, in my opinion, the single most underrated element of home theater/music listening. I was shocked at the difference it made in my space. Let me know how it goes for you.

I think these demo tracks are cool. But they're just a tease, as you wont' often find this kind of pronounced height activity in most movie soundtracks. But the demo reels are cool to show off to friends. Btw, do you bump up any of the atmos speaker +db, or are they all level matched?

I wish more movies were mixed like these demo tracks 😢. The potential is there, the audio engineers just need to embrace it and the studios need to be willing to pay for it. I haven’t increased my Height levels. They are level matched. Thanks for watching!

I wonder what it will sound like with my 5.1 system. I won't have height speakers this year; I have to budget for walls and a ceiling for my home theater cabin (yes, a dedicated cabin for the theater). I actually have speakers but my old receiver is only 5.1.

I've honestly found it more important to add rears than heights for my room. Heights help, but you can simulate that effect with ear-level speakers. That's how I did it in the past. Losing sounds behind you though, that's important. I upmix my 5.1 so surround sounds aren't stuck to speakers on my left and right ears.

I have a soundbar with Bluetooth connected subwoofer and rear speakers. Would I lose any quality of sound connecting through Bluetooth?

That’s a good question. You could try it with Bluetooth and then an alternative method and compare results. Would be a good test

Bluetooth has compression. Sadly, bass is one of the most intensive parts of a soundtrack; that's why it's not as loud or low on some 4K mixes vs the Blu-ray (I think). I can't imagine bass would transfer over nicely using Bluetooth, but I'd that's what you have, that's what you have. Bluetooth is also laggy, so as long as everything is time-aligned, it should sound great! Otherwise, you'll hear sloppy bass. My rears in one home theater are wireless but also time-aligned.

I don’t, but I wish I did! From what I’ve gathered, they try to limit them by distributing them only to dealers. The word is the ones you can buy on eBay are mostly bootleg copies. But don’t quote me on that. It’s just what I’ve heard 🤔

@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Some on eBay are bootleg copies but the ones that are 50 dollars and up are real copies. I have all of the Dolby demos (I think) and one of the DTS demos which there are many.
