Same. I have many poor dolls still wrapped in masking tape because I just got stuck at what to do and where to mark lines. (no pun intended). I tried foil on a rainbow high doll yesterday and yep, she's still wearing it. There's a very big difference between reading how to do it (they seem to miss a few steps between the put tape on and cut it off parts) so SEEING how this is done was mind blowing for me. I also have BJDs who are very well endowed with big hips & tiny waists. The darts part I cant get my head around and thats why the poor dolls are still taped.

You could use this as a base for a dress form. You may want to take the tape up farther on the neck. I'm glad you found the channel. :)

@@DesignsbyJude I did my first fitting for a rainbow high doll last night. ALMOST perfect, first try, which surprised me since I've tried and failed this many times before on other dolls. Usually because I dont know or where to properly place darts and end up giving up. (This video tutorial skips the darts but its something myself and another commenter asks you to teach.) Because its so close to fitting the first time, Im motivated to press on. I already had her wrapped in foil, thanks to another video I'd watched before yours but I ended up trimming to the base of her neck to avoid more curvy seams. I've watched several of your videos now and Im kinda sad you dont own a rainbow high doll. I've only just discovered them myself. Thank you for your reply. ❤

There is a very thin 1/4" velcro being sold on Etsy. My mom gifted me with some and it works very well for doll clothes.

I usually sew on a stitch length of 2.5-3 depending on the fabric. I do recommend fray check for loosely woven fabric that fray easily.

That sounds like a great project. I have not made a wire cape before. I hope you can find a good reference.

If you are sewing for Barbie-size dolls, the main pattern companies like Simplicity have a lot of patterns with that type of design. I have several for larger dolls, 16"-22" on my website.

Once you have the original pieces, you can always fully line the sloper instead of creating the facings.

The sausage thing is called a sewing ham. It was a gift from my mom. I use it all the time.

I have had success with a regular ballpoint pen on the masking tape. Felt tip pens tend to smudge unless they are a permanent marker.

The sewing hams were a gift from my mom. They are very useful when ironing small things.

I have not tried it for that size doll, but believe it would work.

The RTB and E;;pwyne dolls are released throught the Virtual Doll Convention, https:/www.virtualdollconvention.com Many of the others can only be found on the secondarly market like eBay or Mecari since the company is not in business

You can add a 1/16 to 1/8 inch ease in addition to the 1/4" seam allowance. This should be plenty for smaller dolls.
