When my kids were little p, I would by those steaks, cut them up, and with the cheese and tortillas from there, would make steak quesadillas. To this day, my kids love them! ❤
You explain everything so very well and offer many tidbits of new information at least for me and I think you do a very professional job and I do like your outfit and kitchen in the shrimp segment.
So happy to see this new video. Yes dollar tree plus is great for me I'm single and tend to waste a ton of food when I purchase certain items at my local grocery store. It can get exhausting to come home from the grocery store and have to divide everything into single portions or got to the store 3 times a week to get produce because you don't want to buy for the week because your one person it may go by bad.
Ikr. It’s just me and my husband now, and I hate wasting food. My goal is to save money and waste less. So this is a win win for me. But I also really like the regular dollar item type recipes.
@@ginajennings1664If you will peel your shrimp in a bowl of salty water, your hands don't smell as badly. Also, add lemon juice to your hand Soap which you Leave on your fingers for 3 Or five minutes then wash your hands as normal to remove the Seafood Smell.
That’s such a great point, single individual or two person households benefit greatly from smaller packages even if they cost more because they will waste less
love your videos. And i like how you reply 2 a lot of your comments. That most RU-vids dont do keep up the great work your doing a fantastic job !!!!!!! :.
I was born and raised in South Jersey steak/cheesesteaks were a staple. I got stationed in Blythville Ark in 76 and wwent to a local fast food place and ordered a steak sandwich what I got was not what I expected! A country fried steak with white sauce on a bun..no wionder the counter gal looked at me odd when I asked for cheese... frenched green beans are in my top fav veggies, I can eat them right out of the can but I like them with some dried onion and warm enough to melt butter, a splash of white vinegar and my taste buds are dancing with pleasure.. if you want to try a unique side, crush a bag of ranch/ghost pepper pootato chips, add water and heat for the craziest mash potatoes ever...I dont generally like whipped style mashed potatoes but these are a different level.. i shop Dt a lot for many of the same reasons, its usually in and out saving money though is a different story, yesterday I went for a piece of foam board and ended up spending $25!! I understand how/why people would get those shrimp but Im a seafood snob, I was raised on fresh seafood and her in Jax Fl I can get shrimp fresh off the boat or on the curb and sometimes even catch my own... your sandwich idea is the bomb.com though.. Ive been using the Aldi chipolata ranch dressing for a LOT of stuff so maybe some shrimp stuff in the near future... definitely more heat, buffalo sauce is only tabasco style red water and the mayo knoicks back a lot of what little heat there is, its a nice flavor but I even kick up the chipolata ranch with habanero or scorpion pepper powders.. The rice bowl also looked fantastic. I can count the number of times Ive had a salmon filet on one hand, we had salmon cakes or croquettes all the time but it was canned salmon and thats still my favorite way of eating salmon but there is something about fresh salmon roasted over a fire on a cedar shingle is pretty bomb and whole salmon done in a southern cold smoker is unbelievably tasty.. Im going to try that blackened salmon, maybe on a roll with chipolata ranch dressing and pickled habanero onions
@@DollarTreeDinners salmon cakes/croquette/ patties are really easy some people use mayonnaise as a binder I was taught to use an egg, cook your vegetables of choice onions celery bell peppers etc add to the salmon egg mix and add enough bread crumbs to hold them together... Then either deep-fry like my grandmother, bake like my mother or airfry.. they're just like you would make chicken or tuna patties
@DollarTreeDinners the garlic and herb one works great in an oven bowl cooked with chicken thighs, small potatoes, and green beans (canned or frozen). I think the recipe might actually be on the packet. I promise you won't regret it.
Bromelain, in case anyone is skittish, is just an enzyme in pineapple. You know that kind of prickly feeling you get in your mouth when you eat fresh pineapple? That's bromelain.
No that prickly feeling you get is from not cleaning your pineapple properly. The "eyes" need to be cut out completely. If that's not your problem maybe your allergic.
@@charlottewarner2041Actually it’s the enzyme literally eating you not because you’re allergic or anything. It’s a universal feeling that nearly everyone gets from eating pineapple.
@@speciale517 yes! Digestion (although, I like papaya enzyme works better/quicker for me) and also helps in reducing pain/swelling from certain types of inflammation also. 🥀🌹
I just found your channel the other day, and I'm loving it, already! I'm so used to seeing budget cooking videos on RU-vid talking about "$2.00 meal!" "$0.45 fried chicken?!" and the like, but when I watch it, it has a list of about $80 worth of ingredients, three days of prep time, and two hours of continuous, active cooking. This is much more reasonable and achievable budget cooking (so long as you have a dollar store near you), and it took me so long to be able to figure that out! While, mathematically, the aforementioned gimmicky videos might be easier on the wallet, that doesn't change the fact that I'm trying to make these meals on my own, between work and school, while trying to still have a social life, and I eventually had to realize that my time is more valuable than the 50 cents I would save by making those meals on a regular basis. I absolutely love what this channel is putting across, thank you for the work you've put into making these videos that I'll be watching much more often from now on!
I can't say enough how much I love your videos. I keep finding out about new things I didn't even know were at the Dollar Tree. I love trying new products and you have amazing ideas. THANK YOU!
I just gotta say, you have quickly become one of my "go-to" RU-vid Channels to watch. I seriously check all the time if you have new vids. Even if I HATE seafood, I still loves seeing what you come up with! Thanks for sharing, and just overall being you
You have saved my life & wallet. Since I retired 2 yrs ago I spend far too much on making my own food daily. Your recipes fit all my requirements:. Affordable, tasty and easy to prepare Txs so much.
I really love your videos. I’m lucky to live in an area where Dollar Tree Plus stores are plentiful. I’m single and my mom is widowed, we live very close to each other and each night we have dinner together. We trade off the cooking duties each night and on my nights I’ve been giving your meals a try. So far they’ve been a big hit with both of us. The fact that you are a regular person cooking for one or two people is also something I really appreciate. Than you so much for your content. 😊
I truly appreciate all of your helpful cooking videos, recipes, and tips to save us money on groceries! After not cooking for the past 20 years due to my work schedule, I finally retired, and dusted off my apron. Your videos have inspired me to start cooking again. My husband is also glad to see me back in the kitchen. : > Thanks again for the inspiration!
I’m going to check out my local Dollar Tree for that Kraft Buffalo Mayo! Huge container for the price & sooo many uses!! I LOVE to crisp grilled cheese and pizza crust with mayo, so this looks delicious!! 😋🌶😀❤
Great video! Dollar Tree has been stepping up the food sections and your dinners are proof. Also, the pork chops you showed at the store are great when lightly fried and smothered in Pace picante sauce. Keep up the great work!
Note: some of the plus items can be a bit more expensive than other normal items at different locations, especially the 5$ ones so be wary of that if youre going to keep buying at the + sections at dollar tree. Example: strawberry ice cream at walmart costs about 2.50 while the strawberry ice cream at dollar tree with the same size tub costs 5 dollars.
For sure, but it does come down to why someone is at dollar tree, because it may not always be the best value but that is up to the individual and their situation or reasonings for shopping at dollar tree vs another store
I like to shop at dollar tree, mostly to keep my deepfreezer and pantry stocked, even though there are items that I know are cheaper elsewhere, personally I feel like it balances out because of the money you save on other items. Probably depends on how much/what you're buying but I usually spend anywhere from 60-100$ but the amount of groceries you can get for that price is insane.
I thought the same thing and I don’t even like seafood 😂 Well growing up I didn’t but as an adult I’ve been wanting to try again and that dish is where I’ll start!
I'm disabled & taking short cuts I NEVER used to do. Everything was made fron scratch. I still do most of the things from scratch, but at 65 & disabled some days go south & I have to use them. However the shortcut products are much better than they used to.
Thank you so much for posting these videos. I am paying for my own nursing school and watching your videos helps me save so much money! It gives me so many ideas for cheaper alternatives to stretch my paycheck! Thank you 💕
Your videos bring me comfort. They remind me of when times were tough and I had to find ways to make a whole meal using items from the 99 cent store. At first, it was a struggle, but then it gradually became fun to find out what sorts of edible creations I could come up with.
Easiest way to open these kind of thin plastic bottles is with one hand hold the bottle nesting it and the other hand with fingers around the top twist in opposite direction with both hands at one time and there u have it open bottle without pressing the sides! LoL 😆 Thank you for all ur experimenting and ur reviews, I'll try alot of ur items and recipes 😊
My favorite way to prepare salmon is with a mayo and shredded parm mix. It makes a sweet crusty topping. Now I am dying to try it with the spicy mayo!! ❤
Thank you for trying these for us. I like Dollar Tree but with the food items, I usually stick to the name brands. You've shown me that I can branch out and try other things.
The shrimp dinner looks so good as does the salmon ! thanks for the info about the cajun seasoning in regards to the salt content ~ I think I will make your version ! I just saw you DO have the " buy me a coffee " feature! I recently left a comment on another video telling you that you should have that feature !! I had not noticed it was already there lol
New sub loving your channel so much. and may i say you have the biggest and most beautiful Biggest most and i mean the most beautiful and biggest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! lovely green eyes i have Ever seen
I just saw this video and I always like to think about how I might switch a recipe up a bit to meet my family's taste. I think that Shrimp and Rice bowl would be delicious seasoned with oregano and parsley, some spinach added to the skillet, and topped with a little feta. Great recipe idea, thank you!
You can lightly toast the shrimp shells in the oil to make a more flavorful concentrated shrimp flavor oil to put the garlic in! i do it with shrimp scampi! keep up the good content!
My local Dollar Tree has got a plus section just recently. I have not explored all of the items quite yet, but I will next time I go. The meals look delicious.😊
I love this video for a single person like me. This ends up saving me money. I can get some quality food without making 15 impulse purchases that I would at a traditional grocery because DT options are limited. I can also get a lunch and dinner out of each meal
Dollar tree is my go to for seasonings and once in awhile they will have San Marzano canned tomatoes. That was a great deal! Thank you for showing and telling how the food taste. Some may have been scared to taste without knowing. So you are opening many doors for us home cooks!
Hi Rebecca, I see you changed your channel picture! Love the red hair. You look really pretty today. Hey I tried the $Tree potstickers and they are very good! I also tried the $Tree seasoning blend but it wasn't good. I put the blend, with sausage and zucchini into a stuffed zucchini with some pepper jack cheese. The blend almost tasted spoiled and ruined the meal. I won't be using the seasoning blend again but I will definitely be buying the pot stickers again! Oh and I got 10 pot stickers in my package!
I personally like all of the explaining you do the information I get is fabulous. And watching you is the best I like all the recipes you come up with and to tell me what new at Dollar Tree your the best I could watch you all day you have a very pleasant voice I just love hearing it love you sweet friend thanks for sharing
You did a good job on the stake, but if you wanted it to be a little more tender, you could take a fork and stab a whole bunch of holes in it before you pound it. That will help a lot.
Hoping you see this, but I'm a couponer and a few couponing people I follow have said that dollar tree is supposed to drop the prices back to $1 instead of $1.25 ....I really hope so 😊
This shrimp and rice dish could easily, with some adjustment, be reborn as a New Orleans BBQ shrimp risotto. Add some Worcestershire sauce, butter, maybe additional chicken stock. Keep stirring the rice and emulsify the butter into the sauce to make it creamier. And season your shrimp in the butter, Cajun and Worcestershire and give a quick roast in the oven before topping the risotto.
I used to buy the 3.5 oz "ribeye" Dollar Tree steaks for $1/$1.25 and make simple steak sandwiches with them; there was a local barbecue place that used to sell steak sandwiches many years ago, but they're now out of business, and these little steaks helped me to approximate the sandwiches of my memory. These newer steaks, at 5.5 ounces for $3, are definitely more substantial. I'm going to try making country fried steak out of them as you demonstrated! However, just a little warning: look at the package before you buy it, and do not choose the ones with a white strip down the middle. This usually turns out to be gristle, not fat, and simply will not chew. The salad shrimp aren't too bad of a deal, as I just saw them at Lidl today for $7.99 for 12 ounces.
I’m curious because NONE of the Dollar Trees within 50 miles of my area in the South has been on the $1.25 structure for almost a decade. Anything with any nutritional value is at least $3. Typically more.
You have some really good idea and I am impressed what you can do with such limits. A quick shrimp sauté I like to make is putting butter in the skillet, adding garlic, a little lemon juice and some dried hot peppers, after that kind of melds together then I sauté the shrimp in it, that would also go good with your rice, just a slightly different flavor.
I heard you ask about changing your name because you are doing videos that aren't dollar tree . I thought if you did something like "dollar tree dinners plus" would be cute
I use a meat tenderizer on a cutting board and my chicken fried steak comes out good and tender. You might want to try that next time sweetie. Keep up the amazing work, can't wait for the next video!
Wow, I came across your videos last night and they are great. I mean, we don't eat meat anymore, but you have some really good ideas and if someone is on a tight budget or say a retired couple that doesn't have to feed a large family, your ideas are fantastic. Keep on sharing, more and more people are gonna start watching as things get tighter for everyone. Great content, great ideas.
The only thing that was not appetizing was that parmesan cheese powder... Had tp throw mine away cuz it smelled like chemicals and tasted like a chemical 😂.
The only reason I clicked on the video is bc I read u were doing to eat sea food from dollar tree and that got my attention 🧐 now I need to know how do u feel eating all those dollar tree meals, im fascinated u willingly eat all those things without a gun to your head I salute you and I thought I was brave u put me to shame 😔.
I’m not positive because I can’t see the bag very well but it looks like the same salmon we got from Tops supermarket when they had the 4 for $5 or whatever the deal was
