Thats a blessing of a memory ..at the time im sure she felt bad but it was a life lesson for u ...it taught u so much and prepared u for life ...it showed u how much mama tried for her family how much pride she had in her cooking ...how perfect she wanted to make it and how much perseverance she had ...it made an impression on u and years later it still touches u ...it touched me ... ty for sharing ...we had struggle meals growing up ...many of them and i remember the feeling of unity and like we was all 4 in it together us against the world ...for my birthday i asked my mom if she could make me a struggle meal that i love so much ...ground beef fideo and beans with flour tortillas ...i miss my mommas cooking and thats all i want ..God Bless you and your mama this holiday season 🙏💖

@@MrBrooklyn06 yes everything but like if you get canned good they are sometimes 2 for a $, for some reason it’s not talked about a lot but dollar tree is a very good store the sell everything from cleaning supplies to food to house decorations to cook ware

They make it possible for people who struggle to buy adequate groceries to eat better, the cleaning supplies save good money, pet supplies affordable, and toys etc, give families opportunities for holiday fun as well. It's a most definate asset to any community to have a local Dollar Tree. 🤗

The story is my testimony that God listens ...i was at work on the phone with my cuzzo i had just started crying ..i had a overwhelming sadness i was lonely ...she said girl pray so we prayed together ... i prayed for healing strength and might have selfishly prayed for a partner 😏 might of asked God to open my heart ...let the person im supposed to know show themselves ...then all of a sudden i herd the door open the bell said ding ding ding ...in walks Roo he smiled at me walking past me ..i said hi and the rest was history 17 years later ...it hasnt been perfect but he has a kind heart a generous soul and believes in God ..hes a hard worker and his only reason for waking up everyday is to make me happy and he says so every morning and before we go to bed ...so when i say he was sent from God ..i aint lying

Im just seeing this & this reminds me of my hubby & I's very first Thanksgivings Day we wanted it just to be us 2. As I was pregnant very sick, & couldn't go out much. My parents were already gone & hubby's parents were upset I refused to go all out & foot the bill for a huge dinner bill. I was bed ridden & we said NOPE its only us 2 & we did the dollar stores (this was before $ trees were here in KS) but we had Everything's a Dollar store & they had foods there too. It wasn't much, but to us it was EVERYTHING! We were just Thankful it was only us. Looking back on it (24 years ago) & I still get teary eyed. We now just do the holidays the 3 of us & do this now. So girl you warmed my heart with this. Thank You for the warm wonderful memories.

Me too ..there are some nay sayers and grouchy ppl who think its gross ..but those ppl should be ashamed because some of us have had hard times and living off canned foods is what we have to do ...they should count their blessings ..because when this was all we had we got on our knees and thanked God.

Lol I'm not alone. Everyone makes it real when they got invited because they had no family for the holidays they came to our families and tried to get too fancy.. I'd get a can by myself some yrs... But I ate alittle of what they made.. but honestly alot of the bagged canned an box stuff you can buy even six months ahead of time... Green beans, cream of mushroom, all the stuffing, instant potatoes, pie mix... An at the holidays you get the meat an paraishable stuff best deals... Even gravy packs an homemade dinner roll packs can be picked up ahead... Pie crusts... Butter lasts decent... Not six months but ahead...

I wanted to add that my boyfriend (who acts like he's allergic to all veggies LOL) tore up that green bean casserole. We have a new staple in this house lol

My sister tried to be fancy too but hubby loves the canned stuff so i came prepared with 1 can cranberry for him and jalepenos 😅😅 any ways i cut it up on a small plate and placed it on table ....they was fighting for the canned stuff...somehow we made it work 1 can for 12 ppl including my sister...when its right its right ...plus like u said the work was wasted ...give ourselves breaks when we need it 🥰

Funny bc my hubby is the opposite and won't touch the canned jellied cranberry with a 10foot pole! I LOVE the stuff bc I grew up on it! Every couple of years, I'll buy a can and my daughter and I will eat it, sliced and all! 😂

Very true. My grandmother would make homemade cranberry sauce..And I still make it. As they may call fancy..lol..I'm accustom to cranberries. Adding the sugar/ sweetness what sells for most people. And it's s acquired taste, however I like cranberries which I can eat and or without the extreme added sugar/ sweetness.

Some do, you should check around! I love their frozen appetizers. Yummy jalapeño poppers & mozz sticks. Little packages, but enough for a craving.

Nothing wrong with dollar tree but for 30 bucks you can cook a whole roast chicken stuffed with onion, celery, butter and fresh herbs, 1lb fresh green beans, stove top, two ready to bake french breads, homemade mashed potato and an edwards pie for dessert. Dollar doesn't always mean a deal imo.

@@wmg2600 I agree to a certain extent. That all depends on your area, what cheap stores are by, and do they have everything and also family size. Here in California we have... Walmart, Winco, and the 99¢/dollar stores. They are the only cheap grocery places, I can think of that actually have 1$ products. 99¢ stores also offer fresh produce and real meat. Now, Walmart GV and Winco value products maybe a little more pricier than the 99¢ and dollar tree. But, you'd more likely get more product. The only thing, I would've done different was buy real chicken and bread for the dressing also some fresh bell peppers.
