I loved this catalog. My little sister and I spent many hours trying to decide what dolls we wanted for Christmas. We had Chatty Baby, Chatty Kathy, Thumbelina, baby Thumbelina, Tammy, Barbie, Tiny Tears, and a 36 inch doll that walked. Each year we got to pick out one doll each. It was magical every Christmas morning…and the sweet smell of the new dolls was simply amazing. We loved our dolls.

Me too! I had a new doll every christmas. My parents always took me to the Department store to pick out a doll and then took me to see Father Christmas. I remember vividly getting the large Thumberlina doll and i adored her and still have it now although not in great condition. My Mum used to knit baby clothes for her. Yes, I remember the new doll smell. I feel guilty now thinking how much my parents spent over the years as the dolls must have cost a fortune especially Thumberlina who I think was around £10.

I'm totally obsessed with dolls, there is sadly no market for vintage dolls today ! For me vintage dolls have much more cute characteristics.

These dolls were just coming out at the time my parents decided I was getting too old to play with dolls. So I missed out but have grown into a huge doll collector in my adult years. Thanks for the information and joy this brings connecting to the past.

I was not born yet, but Horseman and other Toy Companies in 1963 made some lovely things:)!! My favorite Dolls in Part 2 are: Ideal's Pebbles Flinstone Doll, Baby Doll in a beautiful Christening Dress, Suzy Musical Doll who reminds me a little of a Monchichi Doll with the vinyl face as well as her plush fluffy pink body, @ 8:18 the musical Doll with a "magic bottle" as well as her pretty pink dress, and Flopsie Horsman Doll with soft body as well as her vinyl head:)!! As for my favorite Cribs: I really loved the Deluxe Doll Crib with adorable bunny decal and the Early American Wooden Cradle:)!! Dolls and their accessories were really made well and so detailed back then:)!! Thanks for sharing your Montgomery Ward Catalog and I am looking forward to Part 3:)!!

The Pebbles dolls were so cute. I didn't realize until I was doing the research how many different versions Ideal made of her.

BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU! I was born in 1963 and STILL have my dolls and STILL LOVE them and just revel in their beauty! Today's ignorant children because of ignorant LIB parents do NOT know how to play with dolls and love them , so sad....

Excuse me. I am an educated "LIB" who loved her dolls and played pretend games with them. My son and grandson both enjoyed their "action figures" and made up stories for them. There is no reason to insult people about their political views in a DOLL VIDEO comment section.

Hi! I have a Baby Wendy / Miss Peep doll, (She's a Baby Wendy doll, but Baby Wendy is just a re-imagined version of Miss Peep that has an open mouth and can wet, drink water, and has a different lip shade. Miss peep dolls started being manufactured during the 50's from what I know, but Baby Wendy is from the early 70's (from the little information about baby wendy, because all I have found is a few pictures and a 1973 ad) Baby Wendy sits on my bed and I take good care of her, but I recently noticed parts of her face, hands, and feet turning blue. The second I saw this I removed the tiny blue jacket on a stuffed animal of mine, because I thought that was what caused it. Then, she started to get even more blue. Turns out, it was my blue silk pillowcase. I immediately took the pillowcase off my pillow. I tried to get the stain out with a Magic Eraser (on her hands of course incase it would take off her facial colors as in lips or blush) but it didn't work. Do you know how to get rid of the stain? I really need help, so if you do know, I would really appreciate a reply. Thank you, I loved the video.
@vintagedollcollector4828
@vintagedollcollector4828 3 года назад
Magic Eraser works well on surface dirt, but for a dye or ink stain like you are describing, the best thing is Remove-Zit by Twin Pines, which was developed especially for dolls. You can also use an acne cream or gel with benzoyl peroxide. It may take several applications. Try it on an area that doesn't show first, just to be safe.

at 8:35 on the left, that moves and is musical looks like Thumbelina again. I was born in 1955, and still have my Thumbelina doll and she very much resembles this doll. The ones mentioned earlier don't say they are musical. The blond hair on mine is more like what she probably looked like new. (She is well played with!) Sleeping eyes, soft body, rooted hair, vinyl arms, and legs. I think this is also Thumbelina. (I know the one I have is and she is just like this baby doll. Came with the same accessories.)

She has a rubber ball inside of her the was to make burp sounds. She is in great shape. I don't have her booties. I think I got her bonnet.

The pink snow suit did come on Thumbelina. I have the suit and, it also came in blue too. I have a couple of Thumbelina dolls in different sizes and, have some original clothes as well.. I would love to be able to get various original Thumbelina doll outfits and, to be able to identify the outfit and, the year released. I had the first Thumbelina release as a kid and mine had a long white dress. I wish I still had her but my brother ripped her box out and, she disappeared. Let me know if you want pictures. Maybe you can help me? I was born in 1959, and my parents bought Christmas from their catalogs. I got a doll called "baby's first Christmas " i am trying to find which year's wishbook and to find a picture of her. I loved that doll. I just got a 1967 horseman doll with very similar eyes. Could you help me??

@vintagedollcollector4828 Год назад
Did they buy it for your first Christmas in 1959? Or was that just the name of the doll? I don't have a 1959 Montgomery Ward catalog. There is nothing in the Sears 1959 Wishbook by that name. Can you describe the doll? Is she vinyl or cloth?
@belindabrownharper4496
@belindabrownharper4496 Год назад
Sorry to be confusing! I don't remember which year i received the doll. I got a doll each Christmas and i was older when i got this doll. I ,too, spent hours loving the wish books that came at Christmas. The doll had white hair, was vinyl and the whites of her eyes were painted, i believe. I just bought a 1967 Horseman doll at a Goodwill that resembles her. I'm pretty certain that the doll i got was called, Baby's First Christmas
