He is a good interviewer; he asks the questions, good questions by the way, then is quiet while she answers. He has a sweet smile, too.

My god, I am just amazed on how good the interviewer he is. He seems to ask great questions and even better follow up questions. Even Dolly was amazed on how good he was. Considering she is 70 and had countless of interviews before, you must feel amazing. You nearly made her cry with the Witney question.

This is the best interview I’ve ever seen of Dolly. And I’ve seen them all! This guy should do a special with her. She didn’t use humor once to divert the conversation. She went deep in her answers! She was real and honest and vulnerable. Shad, whoever you are, you nailed this big time!!! Even Dolly herself congratulated you!! That’s huge!!! Thank you SO much for this! It’s a masterclass on journalism. And Dolly delivered a masterclass on life!!

Great interview. He allows Mrs. Parton to fully respond. Based upon his INTELLIGENT questions, he has done his research BEFORE the interview. Mrs. Parton is legendary and is an humble superstar.

I really wish I have her level of enthusiasm and joy at her age of 70. She's 70 years old and she's so cheerful and so happy about her music and she hasn't changed at all. She's so humble and thankful and respectful of her fans. She's just got such a lovely nice presence.

I agree. He would ask questions and then let her finish with her answer. I've seen many interviews where the interviewer would ask her a question, but then interrupt her before she completed the question. He was really good and I really enjoyed this.

I would have to agree with y'all! You can just see it in his eyes because there sparkling and he never stopped smiling, which is the 1 piece of being a great interviewer because it makes the person feel calm and easy to tell you everything, going back to what y'all said about him NOT disrupting her or being "Bigger" but being on a perfect level with her which again is another reason why shes the calmest I've seen her

I always saw her as honest and natural, that’s what makes her so lovable but I do agree that he is a great interviewer, so respectful and giving her his full attention compared to others who just wants to run through the questions.

Before Dolly said it i was thinking what a great interviewer he was. I think the keys were 1. He was prepared. 2. He didn't talk too much and 3. He listened and followed up with questions relating to what she just said and almost challenged some of her answers to get more. The problem with a lot of journalists is they don't challenge to get to the bottom of something, they challenge to get the answer/soundbite they want.

This interviewer is such a darling he lets Dolly talk rather than interrupting like a lot others do and he has the sweetest smile and he listens. Because Dolly has been interviewed many times and this is probably the best I've watched.

What an awesome, intimate interview...probably one of the best (if not the very best) Dolly interview I've ever seen! It's just very real and down to earth. This guy does an incredible job asking great questions and letting Dolly answer them from her heart. Most enjoyable. Dolly is still timeless, legendary, and truly iconic!

Dolly I think is an inspiration for many Canadians because may of us may have not grown up in cities, but even if we did we know struggle, we know family, we know love. our connection to her has always been love.

I agree with Dolly Patton’s gracious comments at the end ... “you do a really good interview. Really. Really “. I’ve watched several others where she clearly is trying to redirect or deflect from the interviewer comments. So respectful. She opened up more OT seems because the interviewer was so respectful, interested, honed in on meaningful subjects. Well done. What an honor to receive her compliments after the thousands of interviews she just have been through. Well done!!

No matter who Dolly interviews with, it becomes just a conversation. She makes you feel so comfortable. Like going home. With all her money and outward glitz and glamour, she is just as down to earth as they come. I was privileged to see one of her shows in Pensacola-her Pure & Simple tour-she was amazing! Just her and her guitar and a piano player. It was fantastic! Amazing woman inside and out!

It’s just amazing I have followed this woman since I’m 12 years old 1972 You know I watch the interviews and they’re always fun But this interview was exceptional the interviewer was wonderful he really was interested in her as a person not just an entertainer. And she connected with him so amazingly you could see the way she talk with him exceptional

This is the best Dolly Parton interview I've ever seen. We've always loved her at our house. My father was a Church of God preacher too and I am familiar with much of what she says here. Although I have stayed in Gospel music, and I'm not a star by any stretch of the imagination. The interviewer does such a great job and they seem to be so open. This is such a great conversation. Just the best.

Truly one greatest interviewer, love all Dolly Parton song. Though years and kind make feel good inside so many years. True Fans love her classic hits songs and few new songs mix in. They clicked, and Dolly's compliment of his interviewing skill was genuine. Some of the "big show" interviewers are so superficial - and ask the same old dumb questions (to which she has great answers because she is smarter than they are, anyway)!
