I remember going to Dollywood in younger years, and seeing 192 with the spark arrestor, I became pretty fond of it and when we went next, when it didn’t have it, I thought it looked weird as it didn’t have it. I love 192 and I really wish they would put it back on her, as she looks very good with it, and remove the chin spark arrestor, as it just looks, no, but I do keep coming back to this video, and I keep on loving it.
That’s some great footage! That Rebel Railroad whistle really fits 192. I just can’t help but get goosebumps when I hear that whistle. Also what was that ticking noise I kept hearing? It sounded like a pressure washer.
Maybe at Dollywood. They might could paint them in their original US army paint schemes. Who knows, maybe they could bring back the old Rebel Railroad southern 3 chime and the old Crosby for the doubleheader.
The amount it wheelslip is atrocious… I know there’s a steep grade and heavy train, but the engineer was visibly not trying to stop it. A shame that they ran her like that
It's a six percent grade with a 190 class that has always been known for not the best traction on heavy grades. I know the engineer and he knows what he's doing and I guarantee he is working the throttle and sanding to try and minimize the slippage.
@@baldwinloco12 holy smokes that’s steep! I would have never figured that. From the views I got from the video it didn’t look like the engineer was being very responsive but my small window wasn’t enough to draw conclusions. Sorry
It’s been kind of dry and it was really wet in early summer they done some test runs this week I saw the video of 192 with just the tender and no cars this week on RU-vid
I had seen it from Tim Smith on Facebook that the exhaust burnt through the netting. I guess since it was late in the season and that 70 was almost ready, they opted not to replace it yet.
I also know why the we’re doing test runs, because the rod between the 3rd and 4th wheel snapped and she was left up there for a week before they could do anything
well im pretty sure there's only four of them but im not sure well first you got 190,192,195,and 196 ,sadly both 195 and 196 was scrapped, 195 that is unknown why it got scrapped but 196 was scrapped after it derailed and turned up on her side, hopefully that answers your question crater films
Ragan Jones 195 still exists in Skagway and 196 was rolled over in the river. The only reason these four survived was because they were the work horses of the 190 class. The rest where wrecked or scrapped at some point. The injectors are set up very similar to that of 190. The reason they had them “protected” in Alaska was to keep them from freezing in sub zero temperatures (there’s record that these engines ran in -70 degree weather.)
