She was magical. I'm not the sentimental type. Never was a hardcore Cranberries fan. Whenever I hear her sing my eyes well up. She truly was something special - something magical.
This fills me with joy and sadness simultaneously. Joy at finding this for the first time, and sadness that her voice has been silenced. RIP, beautiful one.
Couldn’t agree more on your comment, the most beautiful part is that you found her amazing voice, albeit sad that her amazing soul has left us, she has left a lasting legacy, that will never be matched ❤
What strikes me most about this is how powerful she sounds holding the mic feet away. Like she knew of she sang full force into the mic all our brains would melt. Thanks for looking out for us, Delores!
It could be that she has implemented singing techniques from her youth as she did sing in choir/church. Some of the great singers have either a classical background or something similar which served them in developing their voice and technique. Classical singers are known for being able to sing with either no amplification or very little but you hear their voices over great distance nonetheless.
I feel like the person talking to her is actually Ugandan Knuckles admiring his queen. There's a video of Uganda knuckles falling after their queen off a cliff that was made shortly before she left us. Like Uganda knuckles our hearts fell with her. We ask "do you know da wae" because we're still looking for our queen. We get excited when we think we found her and start clicking, then we realize that's not our queen and we spit. Dolores Mary O'riordan never wore a crown but was a true queen nonetheless. It's not just her sweet soft voice we let linger but the heart behind it.
Amadeus are you familiar with Jennifer nettles , she's another one that makes every song better . They remind me of each other in a way . TRUE ARTISTS .
What do you mean she never got the credit she deserved? Have you seen their live shows? Have you seen how many views her videos got? People worshipped her.
@@proteusblack8913 oh I get she was loved world-wide. The Cranberries were massive. But when I hear people talk about the greatest female voices…I hear the usuals…Whitney Houston, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin and Linda Rondstadt. I very rarely hear Dolores in there. And she should be. That’s my only point.
If you, if you could return Don't let it burn Don't let it fade I'm sure I'm not being rude But it's just your attitude It's tearing me apart It's ruining every day
Crazy !! I'm 68 yrs old , first discovered her on you tube 2 yrs ago. What a treasure so talented so beautiful . So sad so young . My first concert was Hendrix 1968 in my home town Seattle . I was 13 yrs old . I'll forever love discovering new beautiful music , no matter what my age . What a treasure she was ..........
Everyone is smiling in amazement in the background as this is what this woman gave to this world , pure enjoyment 😊 What a beautifully gentle yet incredibly powerful voice she had 😢
What a beautiful, unique voice and an even more beautiful, unique soul. I hope her family knows how much her voice meant to so many people. Everyone dies, but some people truly lived.
Crying for her loss. Like a mix of Sinead O'Connor, Stevie Nicks and Andrea Corrs. She outsung all of Fleetwood Mac with one voice. That was incredible
I love these live recordings. A lot of people don't like them. But the way that Dolores could challenge the pitch but still stay on key, that is the mark of an accomplished singer. It sounds dissonant compared to the manufactured material of today, where every tone is perfect, but hers is oh so human, and so very Irish! It is beautiful! Miss you so much! Will see you again dear one! :)
My heart is broken today. Dolores O’Riordan has passed on. She was the voice of my generation, Generation X. I was in college in the Nineties and training to go into the Army. I wanted to serve like my father and grandfather before me. They had their war songs in World War II and Vietnam and in the Nineties, we had “Zombie”. Dolores wrote Zombie when she was Twenty-two years old and it was amazing that at a young age she understood warfare enough to write about it. She was like a fiery Valkyrie singing in a thunderous voice at the top of her lungs, like a young child screaming at her parents to stop fighting. We all knew what she was saying, trying to get the elders to stop the madness. “in your head, in your head they are fighting-with their tanks and their bombs and their bombs and their guns, in your head they are crying”. “Another mothers’ breaking heart is taking over, It’s the same old theme since 1916”. My generation like others before hoped that the war would stop, but it goes on. That song and the Voice of Dolores will live forever. Every time a new generation comes of age and questions why the world is consumed with war they will listen to “Zombie”. They will know that this young woman from Ireland stood up and screamed in the faces of the masters who rule the world and told them that they are tearing our world apart. Dolores O’Riordan performed all over the world, from Ireland to the U.S. to Argentina to France to Poland. Today I am also infuriated and sad because the pain and depression that she suffered from was caused by the abuse she suffered as a child. Whatever her hardships or pain in life today she is suffering no more. She was an Irish Angel placed on this earth and now she has gone to live with the other Angels. She will be missed but also remembered for the important message she brought to we mere mortals.
Nice words Jake very well put. Zombie was written by Dalores in 1993 in the aftermath and protest of the IRA bomb in Warrington, England were 2 innocent kids were killed. The father of one of the kids was only informed about the meaning of the song the day Dalores passed, he had no idea the song represented his son until now. He was truly in awe of it, Ireland and the world have lost an icon and will be greatly missed. RIP.
Perfect mic control… that’s how you work with a mic as a singer. And think of the dynamic range she had, having that mic so far away and still having pressure on the voice. Wow!
First time I've seen Dolores making this cover! I love Fleetwood Mac! What a brilliant voice she had! Unfortunatly, I could never say that to her! But what it counts is the music that she had been done!
Dolores always gave 100%. It didn't matter if she was in a French radio station, playing in a living room, or performing in concert. There will never be another one like her.
@@johnreeves6286 your take is ridiculous... everything you said may be true BUT that doesn’t minimize the tragedy of someone dying... you need to get off your high horse and learn to have empathy... AND.. I’m not even a Dolores fan. I find her voice annoying but dying at a young age is dying before your time... and tragic
@@bestbyte1 Yes, as Spanish Jesuit Baltasar Gracián (1601-1658) wrote it, "... Death in youth is a shipwreck, and in old age it is arriving port". She couldn't arrive to her next port of call. 20211023 (Saturday).
That's very cool. And how lucky they are. Dolores was an artist, that comes around, once in a lifetime, if we're lucky. She can never be replaced nor duplicated. Thank God, we still have her music and vids. A rare talent, brimming with heartfelt conviction, boundless passion, keen intellect and an extremely beautiful woman, both inside and out. Ireland should be proud to have her hail from such a wonderful place, and rightfully so!
Holy Crap! Why have i never seen this before? Her transitions from the soft whispy voice to full on power are amazing. And she looks fantastic too. We lost a real treasure when she passed.
I just wasn't ready for this !! ... My god, she sang straight to my heart as always... but i just wasn't ready for the chorus. Beautiful voice; beautiful song
surely she will be missed, however it is the best version tough. not to forget her other version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q_Xxj2UNB84.html
had a few beers with her cousin a few weeks ago. We ended up having a sing song at the end of the night. The guy's voice was so powerful it would have shattered delph. I'd say they're a massively talented family. True Celtic blood
I'm a Aussie live in Australia. First time I've seen this. The power of her vocals amazing . And taken a great song and making it your own, very few can do that. I've said for years she could sing she has/had a incredible voice. This proves that.
First think I noticed. I had an ex who was an amazing singer and she did the same. Mic control moving the mic way out when she dropped the hammer. Most of the teenies these days are chosen for looks not true vocal prowess like this lady who was a true talent who will be missed.
I would suggest that you fools watch Lindsey Buckingham sing lead during the 90's, LIVE. Far better quality, far better range. Your comments are both false and a joke.
Dolores' vocals are so powerful that she has to move her microphone away from her at certain high notes...she also adds a Gaelic/Celtic/Scottish feel to this song. She is just wonderfully amazing, and she will be forever missed...
@@bbmtge you’re the one going onto every comment resorting to ad hominems because you have no legitimate critique besides bitterness of your “faves” being constantly compared to how terrible they actually are to Dolores
British Critics originally criticized her accent when she was signing as they didn't like it or couldn't understand her, she stuck with her accent anyway and made it big! RIP
Loved her at 15, no need to argue…. 42 now and she still gives me goosebumps! Truly a magnificent voice. She speaks to my Irish soul, gone far too soon but never forgotten… how could she be? when she left left us these jewels x
Omg those high notes, such a explosion of sound. Amazing. Like people said, if she holds the mic more close to her mouth probably the speakers would have exploded.
I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the whole song. Any time I hear her sing or speak, my heart skips. I miss her terribly. She influenced music in ways people cannot imagine.
Most of us did ,listening to her sing left you awestruck ,hearing her speak in her limerick lilt and seeing her natural beauty, her eyes could captivate a crowd in an instant. Gone too soon!
i had a friend who used to say the something, the more i listened to her, i came to see what he meant. Her voice always brings me back to better times. A sad loss for sure.
Speechless, breathless every time I watch this. In total command, completely at ease and lost in the song, and yet making it her own. So pure, so precious!
That's what I was thinking. She's holding it so far from her mouth, and it still sounds like shes singing directly into it. The decibels she must've been capable of is amazing.
Talk about making a song your own. Wow. Now that is what I call a cover. Everything she sang she brought such a deep chord of emotion too. Sensational.
