Yes, he is born in Sweden. I think that the reason why he talks great english is because of the showbiz. He has done plenty of American films over the years, he learns more and more of the language everyday. I just want to add that "Lundgren" is a very common last name here in Sweden.
Doplh is the most handsome man in the world!!!! I think I have watched Rocky IV about 1000 times without exaggerating!!!! About 3 times a day for 3 years!!! That was a long time ago, but I still love him!!!! Hopefully i can meet him one day!!! hahahaha!!!! Even nowadays, he is still the most georgous man on the entire planet!!! :) xxxxx
Way to go Dolph! A great legend. A genius, top athlete, and movie star. Rocky 4 was a favorite movie as was Hidden Assassin. A great man from Sweden. Nothing more inspiring than the Rocky 4 training montage video. Beyond amazing and inspiring. As for all the negative comment losers on here, put down the remote control and try to do 1 percent of what Dolph can do. Yeah, right. Easier to leave silly comments in regards to any athletic fans hero.
he should have been GUILE from Street fighter! he was literally put on this fuckin earth for that role and they casted fuckin Jean Claude van damme he was HORRIBLE and sounded not the least bit American.
No kidding, he looks much better now than he did here (during Rocky time). Slightly mature look to his face makes him better looking. He almost looked a little goofy back then, with that smile.
He comes across as pretty charming, but what the hell outfit did they have him appear in? It looks like a dinner jacket with a black bowtie (worn OVER the collar?) and matching pocket square, black trousers that may be too short for him...and is he wearing opera pumps? He mentions a fitness video...a fun bit of trivia is that Quentin Tarantino worked as a PA on the shoot for that video.
I thought he was going to come out with a pen and pad and ask everyone how they wanted their caviar served. Stallone was the best at putting people in the best light. See Hulk Hogan, Mr T, Carl Weathers. Rocky IV was a great showcase for Dolph Lundgren and really no one has been able to maximize his screen presence since then. It's a real shame. Dolph in his prime was unbelievable.
it's a matter of the Swede's acting skills, which, let's be honest, were/are very average. Another notable role after Drago was in the high-budget film Universal Soldier. In recent times, Dolph has been on the silver screen only thanks to his friendship with Stallone, who gave him a shot at Creed and a permanent role in the Expendables series.
Dolph Lundgren is refreshingly humble and much nicer than his mean alter ego in Rocky IV would suggest. If people would have rooted for him to win over Stallone, maybe the world would change for the better. Is it really strange to cheer on the movie baddie instead of the movie hero? Knowing Stallone as he's turned out now, who'd blame you? Dolph has me at "I must break you!"
er conan o'brien i presume. conan is estimated to be 6 foot 4, NO WAY is Dolph shorter than him, but he's probably the same height nowadays due to shrinkage. But he was a legitimate 6 foot 6 man in his heyday.
Thank to her he moved from Australia to USA. Thanks to her we can see him in his first episode in James Bond series - A View To Kill. After that his photos ended up on Sylvester Stallone's desk. And then iconic Ivan Drago was born.
Johnny had been a huge promoter of Joan's career during her early days in comedy. She had regularly served as guest host, and some folks even thought that she would take over permanently once Johnny retired. However, when Fox hired Joan to host The Late Show, it was placed in the same time bracket as The Tonight Show. Apparently, Johnny felt that she was stabbing him in the back.
Yeah, it would be cool if he could succeed. But it's probably too late, he is pretty old know. I think he is 55 years old, it's hard to get bigger in that age...
He was sooooo sweet and perfect...you can see why Grace wanted him. Now why on earth he wanted Grace is beyond me... no hate, I'm a black woman too but dang- Grace looked like a dude. Oh well, if she's the reason we all know about this piece of perfection today, then that's fine w/ me!
It’s funny enough in Rocky iv when he was drago the Russian with not many lines in the movie in real life his English is clearer than Sylvester’s I couldn’t understand the first Rocky film Sylvester’s English was so poor I have to watch it with subtitles 🤣
@mopkij "did he really take roids in the movie" That's like asking if Arnold really cut the skin off his arm in Terminator 2. It's a movie, it's not real.
No, it was because of his very brutal, alcoholic and abusive father, who hit him for the first time and cracked his skull when he was only 4 years old, and used to beat Dolph´s mother up too. His father berated him constantly for being small, thin and a sickly child... until Dolph was in his late teens and turned things around for himself.
Johnny Cade maybe this maybe that maybe maybe... In this case your doubt can be resolved by watching a video where he says he took steroids, as per Stallone's directions, to make Rocky 4. It is not more common in the movie industry today, maybe you can say it happens more because the industry is bigger, there are more movies, more actors, more everything. On the other hand, like you said, the stereotype has changed a bit, and today it's more about the "pretty boys" than the tough "manly" men (except for Wolverine...).
