Dome P2 - A Japanese Dream, far ahead of its time...

A rare exhibit of a car which we rarely see even at car shows. A DOME P-Zero, the only one in existence, a single prototype, made ambitiously by M. Hayashi's DOME, a race car chassis designer/constructor. The visionary's dream was to put this into production as the first Supercar from Japan. However, like many such attempts in the past, resources, political climate, regulatory factors, and other obstacles, it never saw a day when it can be sold to the public and driven with license plates. The details are amazing for a car conjured in the late 70's, especially considering how most all oftener Japanese cars looked in that era.

This car disappeared. the owner didn't want anyone to buy it or have it. So he destroyed the rare model.

The car was stored in a honda warehouse safe and sound. They didn't showcase it but its in good hands.

Countach Wannabe

@DaRealCarlos, LOL. The Countach didn't start the wedge revolution. It was also taking a ride on the latest trend like every other supercar of the 70's. The Dome Zero looks more like the Alfa Romeo Carabo than like the Countach. The Carabo was presented a full 3 years before the Countach in 1968. It's obvious the Countach stole a lot from the Carabo's style. Even the Maserati Boomerang, which was introduced in the same year as the Countach prototype in 1971 has more in common with the Dome Zero. Calling the Dome Zero Countach wannabe makes you sound like a casual car fan who only knows mainstream stuff. Countach was also imitating others and was not fully original. Does that make the Countach a Carabo wannabe? And the Dome Zero doesn't look like a Countach wannabe at all. It is enough original and looks more like other wedge supercars than like the Countach. About the only solid thing it has from the Countach is the orange square turn signals that look like headlights. In the Countach they are white. But even that is not unique from the Countach. The Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer also introduced in 1971 has the same style.

I know that. But Gandini put it first on the Carabo. Stole here used just as an expression. But people think the Countach was totally original and it just wans't!

Well, Pagani updated it. Saying it was designed by him is a big stretch. ;) The point though is, people are way too quick to call out cars for supposedly ripping off the Countach style. The Countach wasn't the first or the only low profile wedge shaped sports car. It was a trend and the Countach was just following it as well.
