Rob Lassiter talks about dodecahedron geodesic domes in Barranca Peru. The domes feature in the Agriquatics' Terraqua Barranca project -- site of the Parque Ecologico.
I been looking for a way to build one using only lumber great idea I would love to build that exact model. I will have to check to see if we are able to build them in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
How much I love this geometric shape and how much I adore it. However, my country’s culture only believes in concrete and iron. Are there institutions that teach how to make this wonderful shape in Canada?
This is magnificent work of art...unfortunately we dont have a available witg perfect cut wood here in our country....if its ok with u sir..wud you share the complete details og sizes and cut of its material...tgank you so much
inspiring concept, thank you! I wonder what kind of coverage has been used. I would build it if wooden shingles are possible and not too heavy. Could I get an answer?
I don't suppose there are scalable plans available? The Hexagonal joint pieces are straightforward, I'm more curios about lengths and angles for the end cuts on the structural members.
That's the first assembly that I like. No metal! After watching geodoes on YT for quite some time it's a relief to find this clever concept. Darwin Domes you bet.
Paul Robison builds domes with no metal hubs on you tube, but his designs are for smaller domes for greenhouses, etc... not homes. But you can just scale the materials up to 2x6, and make the cuts, angles, and bevels needed to piece together a home worthy geo-dome. IT is pure wood struts all the way to the very center of the hub, with no hubs, it is primum design very similar to how how Buckminster Fuller had his own home dome built. The struts run all the way into the center of where the hubs would be. The hub design was not the best way to build the strongest dome, that was only introduced by people who wanted to make a dome but didn't want to have to deal with all those angles and bevel cuts on the struts to make a REAL geo-dome. For people who suck at geometry.
Holaaa buenas tardes! Cómo se pueden obtener los planos para la fabricación de éste tipo de Estructura de Domo Geodesico? Soy de Panamá y quisiera hacer mi casa así! Muchas gracias por la información!!!
i built a dome made that way 30ft diameter 3 frequency 5/8 sphere 4 ft base wall i tore it down when county i lived in wanted to charge a lot for property tax it was 2 story and full basement i used the dome building handbook for formulas only spent $1500 on frame and plywood and 8 squares of shingles
Do you still have plans for this? Or where to find them? I am interested in his design using these materials (using wood for the corners and how to cut angles for the struts etc)
Been thinking of putting one in Davao. Same thinking with Clayton in the comment. Round structure with lightweight struts supporting one another would be more earthquake proof than rectangular structures. Paul, would you mind sharing some guidelines on the cuts to the struts to insert the wooden hubs?
Hello friends! If I wanted to put garage down to not occupy another space in the field, would you put foundation and concrete poles in a circular way? This does not diminish the strength of the structure of the dome or what can be problematic? I hope you are still aware of your video and you can answer me, greetings from Mexico.
Dann HR ive put 20 foundation pillows for my 4v dome. The pillows need to be at same level precisely so use a hose water level or a laser.(ive used hose water level because its more precise than a laser and easyer to get if you dont have a laser)
Hi Paul, I'd like to get in touch with you to talk about design and engineering (specifically for South FL Building Codes). I'm a GC and I'm interested in building an Au Pair Suite for my in-laws. I think this concept would be perfect. How can I get in contact with you? Thanks in advance.
Sam Goodell we’ve gone with high quality shrink wrap on greenhouses: Immediate, very cheap and good for 3 years. Extensions of that concept with materials and sprayed overcoats allows permanece and blocking of light and UV.
there is this guy paul robinson from uk, who sell the plans. on the cheap. (i´m not relate do him in any way, i just beieve his sistem is easy )look for him here on youtube. it seems his sistem is upgradable to an actual home design. i´m guessing the design in this video is just for show without any real aplication.
instructions are easy. You go at any dome calculator on the internet and you get the lengths and the angles of each strut. For this design you have to cut the angles into the struts and also to shorten the struts a little so that you replace those cuts with the size of the hubs.Domes made with hubs like this one are easy to make.
I know I am late to this party, but I am wondering if you could build such a dome halfway submerged in the Earth similar to a Hobbit house? I imagine a 2-3 story structure with the 1st level being completely submerged like a basement and the 2nd and possibly 3rd stories being above ground?
I would love to see one of these in action. I've seen many cases where water/moisture is a big issue in submerged livable basements... Do you know how to deal with that?
@@GregJoshuaW Hi. I don't know where you live, but hereabouts, basements are no big deal. You dig the hole, you see to the drainage, you pour the forms, you keep building up. Finished and livable basement suites are as common as the dirt that surrounds them. Though depending on the land, a sump pump might be prudent.
Ya but......what are going to clad it with.? Something from the hardware store.? And hurry up, its gone rain. Please show a complete dome. And about windows and doors ?
That is the disappointing thing about youtube .... nice little film but no further information .... drawings, dimensions, sources of supply .... only blah, blah. … look, what i’ve done…
Because the chap sells plans for $100, so why would he give his hard work and innovation away for free? He's given you enough clues to complete a project like this, but if you need his expertise, you owe him.
