He is like post malone in the way he uses his voice. Sometimes he'll have a wobbly kind of insecure "vibrato" that is really signature to Post's voice. Not bad (in fikes case. post cant really sing) but it was noticeable to me before I'd seen this video or heard anybody say that. Also coming from trap beginnings into pop is very malone.
Dominic Fike is legit super talented and a must-watch talent, although I do believe he has a concerted industry push behind him. I saw Denzel Curry and several other rappers randomly shouting him out on the same day, but he blew up off of Soundcloud real good.
1) There's definitely an industry push behind in terms of the fact he's signed. So you know some things will be strategic, etc. 2) But in terms of the the shoutouts, I think some are just people legit admiring his talent. Because of how the circles work, he has more "industry" fan buzz than commercial buzz...for now...
@@BrandmanNetwork i went to school with him he's been making music for a long ass time look for ripmattblack he's going to blow next we finally have talent coming out of swfl
Just like the brand man said, The shoutouts are definitely just other artists acknowledging and appreciating the dudes talent, especially since denzel is also from florida and it’s nice to see someone who (with all due respect to x) is as talented and diverse as x, he’ll be able to bring in a huge broad fanbase, his fanbase could range from idie, to pop, to hiphop and that’s what’s amazing about him
Rafael Delgado yeah he’s pretty dope too, lookout for this kid as well soundcloud.com/vitvitvit/lazy-boy this hidden gem came out of nowhere in my recommend like how is no one bumping this shit
4 years ago! After listening to 'SunBurn' I am grateful you shared this artist with us. When you first posted this video I immediately looked up his songs and appreciated him for his 'Pop' song structure, as well as the overall aesthetic of his 'Demo Tapes'. Although, after I listened to '3 Nights' the impression that I interpreted was that he was simply a 'Cookie Cutter' artist, but he surprised me with songs such as 'She Wants my Money' and 'King of Everything' which made me want to continue listening to his music. When I discovered 'Acai Bowls Acoustic Version' my jaw immediately dropped (pause lol), I was wowed and knew something great was soon to come. 'What Could Possibly Go Wrong' wasn't my personal favorite, I'm sure after a couple more listens it will grow on me, however the album was disappointing because 'Demo Tapes' set a high standard for my interpretation of the artist. I waited in anticipation for his next album to release as I heard the 'Mona Lisa' song in the 'Spiderman: Across The Universe'. Upon the release of 'Sunburn' I must say he has raised the bar and has created a classic album. My brother! I downloaded the album on 'Tidal' the night it came out and instantly loved it. I may be biased due to the 'Mona Lisa' song being on one of my favorite movie series, but it isn't the best song on this album. From beginning to end 'Sunburn' is an album that is overall a great body of work and I am thankful that you introduced me to 'Dominic Fike.' Best regards, Ayo.
I'm from the same city, he came out of nowhere. Was another high school rapper as every city has and then got arrested and disappeared. Came back with the demo and was blown up on social media so I believe he had big helping hands but he did it!!! Put the rest of our city on and we thank him for that 🤞
I saw somewhere that he said he didn't know how you got initial eyes from the "industry people". But he also said he thinks it would've had to been a older friend he had that had some connections who spread the word.
He is not a industry plant, I literally fell in love with his song “3nights” just of hearing the the first 3 words from the chorus..I love this dude is different and has a great vibe, well deserved success
I mentioned specific music to depict his range outside of what's popular. Other than that 3 Nights isn't what's impressive about him...anyone can land a hit... It's the story outside of an artists most popular song that determines their trajectory. sn: 3 nights is probably my 3rd favorite song off that EP.
@@thedamnshame I mean, even still, why does it matter? Sure, a label can give an artist a career regardless of talent, but that artist obviously won't be remembered or have any sort of longevity if they don't have any real musical quality to back it up. Plus, the term "industry plant" in my experience is only usually applied to people who blow up WITH a debut album, as opposed to before it, and it's usually only by people who don't have knowledge of the artist's prior career or discography. For example, everybody says Billie Eilish is an industry plant because she went from a small cult following to a worldwide sensation after You Should See Me in A Crown and her album. But those same people fail to realize that Billie has music on Soundcloud dating back years earlier and started writing songs with her brother when she was like 13. It's not like she was just plopped onto the music world with a debut album and suddenly she's touring the globe. Not everybody is going to be Chance the Rapper and get famous off of a single mixtape, people!
Is it just me or is Açaí bowl easily one of dominics best songs? And somehow the live in Paris version sounds 20x more angelic than the studio version despite them both being perfect.
raury didn’t disappear. he dropped an album roughly a year solely on soundcloud and has 100% separated himself from record labels. he’s only 21 on top of that. he’s just doing a lot of his own thing at this point and skipping out on a lot of the worst parts of the music industry
He is a good looking young man that's talented and is making his life better writing good music and has a big heart towards other people that he cares about God bless him always love him
I'm an old white guy who loves so much music, but there's only so many hours in a day. I never ran into Dominic Fike or Remi Wolf until I started hearing Dominic's 3 Nights and Remi's Hello Hello Hello at the supermarket where I work and they have both blown me away, changed my life and I've explored everything. I ask my co-workers "Did you just here that?" and they say "No. Didn't notice." I am like "I can't tune out any music and when occasionally good stuff hits me, I am overjoyed. So great to get some background on all of this. Now I want to hear even more Dominic. I hope he does really well and keeps himself intact. I'm struggling with staying intact these days. Inspiration. It's been a few years since I spent time learning song lyrics, but been doing more of that lately, singing and dancing at work and it makes my day a lot more enjoyable and I usually get a decent response.
The difference between being an industry plant, and XXXtentacion.. is XXX did 600k on his first album - with his own buzz - and just a distribution deal.
What I love about his ep is every song is different and special and I can’t really pick a favorite, everytime I listen to one of the songs I listen to all of them
I'm from Mx. I heard 3 nights in a movie in Netflix months ago and I liked it but it was just weeks ago that I heard all his songs and I'm in love with each of them, ain't normal here to hear about not so popular artists but I'm thankful for finding Dominic Fike.
Thoughts on how his foray into acting on euphoria plays into his brand? His character plays guitar wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up using his talents on the show like zendaya did last season with singing in the finale.
That’s my cousin and my blood, but unfortunately, I never got to know him... His Dad is my Uncle, and I somewhat knew his Mom. Too bad our whole family has been so separated and shit.. this kid deserved to have more of his actual family around him. I remember him when my Aunt used to watch him as a baby. His Dad would come and get him high... Don’t know ya, Cuz. But being your my flesh and blood, I love ya. You’re on the right track and I know you’ll go far, just stay away from the shit. You know you’re in the spot light now more than ever, and the Media will ruin you man.
I’ve been listening to him since 2017 but he didn’t gain any traction. Then I started listening when he re-released the album and now he’s blowing up and I couldn’t be more happier, he talented and down to earth. Oh and he can do backflips ;)
I’ve grown up seeing the business side of music... my mom has 5 Grammies and is best friends with some of the greats of all types of music genres... Allison krauss, Steven Tyler, keith urban, etc.... I agree with this video so much so! This Dominic fyke guy is a true musical and melodical genius! I heard his song phone numbers last week and immediately fell in love with his artistry! His style is so unique but also believable... I keep wanting to hear more!
Dope, I can agree 💔♓💔♓ is my first music video complete ass? Imma blow her up next year too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kR98gFvZkGc.html
haha, remember when me and my homie went to his crib to work on some music right before he got locked up. this a real success story proud of homie FLA in dis bihhhhh
Dominic Fike is art. such a crazy talented and just has a unique personality. omg, "Don't Forget About Me, The Demos"??????? King of Everything still gives me chills. yoooooo, Westcoast Collective??? that song is CRAZY, omg. yo, Dominic Fike is an artist that everyone NEEDS to listen to.
I’m trying to use this same strategy! I feel like I can do it I’m diverse enough for sure! I had a nice buzz with my group in my city, but now I’m re branding myself. Thank you for this video, it answered a lot I needed to know!
Yes! When I first heard him, I thought of Jeff Buckley! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who picked up on that! I just hope that the industry doesn't take that away from him. We don't need another pop star. We need him just as he is.
@@potiger4103 "overrated" letsbe honest, its garbage, the people that listen to her think that they are so hard and could kill, when in reality they scared to ask for extra ketchup at their mcdonalds
Rico, That cool ass penguin from madagascar well i listen to her because i like her sound and that’s it. don’t make group observations, everybody that listens to billie eilish isn’t the same and isn’t even apart of her weirdo fandom. everyone has their own opinion, but you don’t have to be a dick about it.
Gotta admit I've known Dom for his music and didn't know he was in Euphoria until I binged the series. Kinda hate his character tho, just needed to let that out. 😫 Well anyway, he's just getting bigger and bigger each day and we can't wait what's in store for you in the next few months/years Dom. Cheers for this talented young man!
I havent watched this video yet but the title alone sent me to do a google search and i already want to yell “plant” lol like what ? How is being given so much acclaim with no work. I just cant wait to hear this video n do more research.
brenden whiteley he did have songs, im from his hometown , lil pump and him share father figures and kevin acknowledged him when he already had buzz around him
he may be an industry plant, or at least have some sort of industry push behind him, but idc lmao. a lot of ppl have a thing against industry plants (billie eilish) but tbh he’s talented as hell, his songs r good, and he has this energy that’s fresh so who cares
