Holaaa, If you are interesting in Dominican things, you can check my channel. It's completely in spanish but if you're able to understand at least like B1 level you gonna be find.
I'm Dominican and I spoke it up until I was 5 cuz my Grandparents went back to the DR and my Dad refused to Speak it anymore cuz he came here when he was 13 and was harassed and hate crimed cuz he didn't speak English. He was put into special ed classes cuz they didn't have translators so that made it worse.. Once he learned English he refused to speak his language. And my mom is yt.. I was so mad at him for letting me forget it.. Now I can only speak it like a 2 year old. :(

Yay por fin! Muchas gracias por este vídeo. Me encanta la República Dominicana. Algunas de estas palabras son nuevas para mí. Otra vez muchas gracias y me encanta tu canal.
I am traveling to the Dominican Republic for a second time and I want to learn some of the language before going. I was excited to find this video! I also loved the footage of the beautiful island!
Sr. Briggs I want to give 🇩🇴 🇵🇷 spanish a try. Because I look for to visit 🇩🇴 & revisit 🇵🇷 ( when its no hurricane season) when Barack Obama was President I met a lot of Afro-Dominicans for the first time. I ready for my lessons how to speak 🇩🇴 spanish & 🇵🇷 spanish. I want to practice how to order my food, coffee I'm an coffee drinker en Espanol tambien
Why do Dominicans feel that they are from Spain and Spaniards. I know a lot of other Latino countries have white Latinos and they don’t go crazy like Dominicans do and they are actually white and Dominicans are black
TLDR...it's complicated and people can still be racist against their own race essentially. There a lot of interesting articles on this exact thing. I can't speak for other countries but Dominicans really struggle with their African ancestry. A Dominican person is predominantly a mix of Spanish and African (of course not everyone) but a Dominican person doesn't want to connect themselves to slavery. I think that's the difference between African Americans and Afro-Dominicans. African Americans don't forget where they came from while the Dominicans rather not associate with it. While I'm obviously white, I don't deny that there is African ancestry in me but that might be a very privileged thing for me to say.
its probly because most doenst want to be connected with our haitians neighbors. the others thing is the first black in this country were free men not slaves@@ehknee
