I would have been adamant too if I were among the first jurors.. Anybody who gets whacked for adultery loses my confidence and presents me with a reasonable doubt, regardless of whether they schemed to kill spouses or got killed themselves.. as provocateurs of whole tragedies.. People shouldn't be blinded by love and ignore prenuptial arrangements.. They save lifes.. If you ask me all of three contributed to the tragedy that befell them.. BUT in a way I sympathize with Dunne, who lost a lot coz of the two scumbags who couldn't keep their panties on.. period.

+Talithapraiz I didn't agree with Dunne's comment about the hold out juror. While it may seem cut and dry to some, to others it was not. It would surely take strength not to vote with the majority after a lengthy deliberation. I wasn't sure what part of Hood's story changed in the second trial. Very interesting to me that jurors from the first trial could be called to testify in the second.

+Rob Robert the problem is that if they are guilty and don't get them the first time in court, they can't be on trial again for the same crime. Thats why sometimes the law enforcement waits so long to do anything. They know in their minds and hearts the true. They have to prove it the first time.

Lyn Yes, I'm aware of the double jeopardy rule, and believe in its merits. What does that have to do with them not requiring proof to convict, which was the comment I made? "They have to prove it the first time." No - they do NOT have to prove it AT ALL. If they had to prove it there would be practically no such thing as a false conviction. All that is required is a belief beyond a reasonable doubt. THAT is the basis for my entire comment.

Lyn Well, it's quite simple, really. Forget about any pretence of justice. That's just a word they use to try to justify their own existence. What the truth is, is that you have a prosecutor on one side, and a defence attorney on the other, and they appear to be in opposition. Both belong to the same organization - the Law Society - as does the Police Officers and the Judge. The prosecutor's job is to build a theory to present to a jury designed to convict. The defence attorney's job is to build an opposing theory designed to get an acquittal. The defendant is merely a prop, a pawn, a reason for gathering in the court. Both attorneys do all they can to win, and they do so in order to advance their own careers and/or riches. That's all that is important to either side. No proof of any crime(s) is required. All that is required is for one attorney to convince the jury that his/her theory is better than the other attorney's theory. There is no such thing as a "fair trial." If a trial were a fair one there would be nothing relevant to the case that could be kept from the jury. The defendant pays the price of the decision, and the attorneys move on to the next pawn - ahem! defendant.
