I think Dom got a fewl bits wrong re Scarpa being the head of the family. He was a Captain at the very end before he was took to the slammer. He died of Aids not Cancer and I don’t think he made witness protection as he was took to jail the night he was shot in the eye, he never saw the light of day again. It did turn out that for a large part of his mafia life he was a government informant.
I’m of the opinion that scarpas crew was just as bad if not worse then demeos if u read the book about scarpa and his fbi contact it details that Mary bari murder and it’s worse than u could ever imagine
@@chairlesnicol672 they lowered her into a trap where she thought she was getting an interview for a job but instead she was meant with Greg scarpa who shot her in the head
He was remorseful because no matter what, he actually had a moral compass. He was a great kid, a great soldier and a good regular person after his Mafia career. He only went bad, because his Uncle lured him into being bad and justified that life. His Uncle should have known as a career Mafia guy how that life is all about deception and treachery among so called “Men of Honor”. Nothing but bullshit they throw around to try to cover their criminality. A real loving Uncle would be like Sonny in “A Bronx Tale”. Go to school, get a job, do the right thing. This is my life not your life. I ruined mine, to make all this money illegally, so you don’t have to be a scumbag like me. That’s what Nino should have said to Dominick. He should have used his influence to allow him to settle in a respectable life, where he has a job, that’s a passion. Even if it meant he was “just a bus driver for the city”. RIP Dominick, your Army friends have welcomed you to heaven.
Wait wtf He was 40 and she was 16, he broke up with her, she had to go, so they sent Scarpa's son to kill her... I need more context - I found a 2006 NY post article on it
I'm shocked Dom doesn't know Greg was a Caporegime and it was Carmine "the Snake" Persico that was Boss and Allie Boy was either the brother or son of Carmine and Scarpa Jr was Greg's son and they were entirely different crews all together.
You don’t understand. I’m from this little area of Brooklyn. Knew some of these people. Back then the Mob was very secretive. Even amongst themselves. Hardly anyone knew the whole story about the structure and what what truly going on. Most things were on a need to know basis. Plus they put out disinfo to confuse.
Ally boy senior (the mobster Dom is talking about in this video) was Carmine Persico’s older brother. He was also the Underboss of the Colombo family. Ally boy jr was Carmine Persico’s son, and the nephew of Ally boy senior. Carmine Persico was the boss of the Colombo family, not Greg Scarpa. Scarpa was just a caporegimine in the family. At the time this murder occurred, I believe all three Persico’s were in prison (I’m not sure if Ally boy jr was though). But Greg Scarpa did carry out the murder under orders from Ally boy senior.
Scarpa was fearless and did what he wanted with impunity. The only reason was because he was an informant and had that guy Lindsey on his side. If you took any gangster and gave them that kind of protection they could go out and do whatever they want. Greg never did any time over the years. It was only because he was an informant. People thought for some reason he was so tough and he was only tough because he had the protection of the FBI.
I love Dom and his stories but he mixes lots of things up, Greg Scarpa was a powerful street boss/captain but was never the Boss of the Columbo family, also he had Aids and not cancer, and in another video I heard Dom say that he himself was an acting Captain with the Gambino family but he was never even made so if your not even an official Soldier then you can no way be an acting Captain, so I don't think Dom lies as such but I think his recollection is hazy to say the least which is understandable as all this stuff was over 30 and 40 years ago.
I would have loved to ask dom "what he thought would have happened to the family if carlo gambino and Paul Castellanos reigns were the other way around. If you get what I mean
@vik if say carlo was younger. Paul older. Paul dies and a younger carlo takes the family into the 80's. That any better. 😆 🤣 Hard one to explain In this clip he says no way would that have happened if carlo was around. So I wonder how longer the family would have lasted with carlo. I don't think carlo would have ended up on the side of the road outside sparks stakehouse.
@@jamesparkerone He said there’s no way that happens under his uncle which was Nino Gaggi. Carlo and Paul weren’t related to Dominick but he grew up around them since Nino was so close to Paul. What’s ironic is Paul asked Nino about Dominick being his driver but Nino didn’t think that was a good idea partly because Nino was worried it would be embarrassing if Paul was to find out about Dominick’s hard partying lifestyle and being gone for days at a time. Also Nino liked staying behind the scenes and let Dominick handle his dealings with the Demeo crew. But it makes you wonder if Dominick would have been clipped with Paul had he been his driver. Also what probably emboldened John Gotti to hit Paul was that Nino Gaggi was serving a prison sentence and Roy Demeo had already been taken out and his crew mostly dismantled. So when Gotti was successful at bringing Sammy the Bull and Frank Decicco into the plot as well as Joe Watts there was nobody in the Gambino’s for John Gotti to fear a retaliation for taking out Big Paul. Although I’m highly suspicious of the story that Paul asked John Gotti to punch Roy demeo’s ticket and Gotti refused out of fear…Roy DeMeo was so paranoid to the point of toting around a shotgun under his coat in the weeks leading up to his murder and very few people could get close enough to hit him so to me it seems like Paul would’ve tasked Nino with that job from the start
_Scarpa was a high ranking captain he might have been underboss but he was informing for FBI he even traveled to Louisiana and kidnapped w high ranking KkK member and Arrested him for the FBI but I don't know about him being a boss, best case scenario was that he might have been the underboss or consiegular or however u spell it lol_
Son of a bitch! I’m supposed to come in first. How frustrating! 🤜 Now I’m going to need to perform a drywall patch construction 🦺 because of you. Just punched a fresh hole in wall.
Greg Scarpa Sr was a captain under Carmine Persico who was the boss in the Colombo family. Dominic’s uncle Nino Gaggi was made captain in the Gambino family shortly after the hit on Frank Scalise in Brooklyn in the late 1950’s. Dominic was an associate of the Gambino family, he was never made.
nino was not made a captain until paul became boss he took over pauls old crew...he was never a captain under carlo..he was made back then but not a capo
@@brianlewis8110 Just learn to type? Or was that your very first thought in life? Not sure why its your first day on Earth, but you couldn't be more incorrect abut the Bull amid your nonsensical incomplete attempts at sentences with horrendous grammar. You've never met him. You've never spoken to him. All you know and have seen are the short moments of the already recorded videos he has released. Can't exactly tell someone in an already recorded video something and expect acknowledgement. You should have known that prior to obtaining internet access. You only left that incomplete thought because you are one of the far too many who falsely believe a phone screen is going to have your back if things get real. If you ran into him on the street, you and I both know good and well it would be "Yes sir" "Thank you sir". Speak about others as if they are standing behind you. It will serve you well. Much more so than school apparently did for sure.
greg was not the head of the family heb was not even a an official captain he was a acting captain an that only came at the end of his life his son was an official captain an he died of aids not cancer..dom has this all screwed up how could he mistake him for the boss when carmine was the boss seems like almost 4 ever
He says at the end: "Its really weird how all these mob guys are dying miserable deaths." Notice it's usually (if not always) the most evil, murderous and selfish of them all.. and they're always high level people. Live an evil life, die a wicked (and painful) death.
I think it was more Scarpa wanting info 4 feds n he thort she new but she hd no clue like Dom sed Allie boy persico was the Acting boss/underboss of Colombos at time so if Scarpa got info on him frm her that wud bin gold to feds
