My Dad was in Vietnam and that whole generation got shafted. It upset me how everyone was worshipping the veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan but our Nam vets were treated like crap and sometimes literally spat on, yet they were forced to fight cause they got drafted. Also they weren't given proper care by the VA, just a huge mess.
I wouldent say anyone was Worshipping the GWOT vets. I would say 95% of Americans felt indifferent about them meaning they didn’t really give a s**t about them. They didn’t demonize them like the nam vets but I def wouldent say they were worshipped Americans the 21st century don’t care about military culture especially the younger generation which I’m part of

Protestors for most part didn’t protest the soldiers. They protested the war. In fact those protesters r the activists that lobby, protest and push for better benefits for soldiers! Easy for me to say that in hindsight tho, as I imagine I’d be thinking different from the perspective of stepping off a plane after being in combat and be greeted by loud protests and demonstrations.
Not all of them. How come a lot of soldiers were spitting on and throwing shit on them. Lots of soldiers experienced that. Which is stupid bc they were drafted so they didn’t have a choice.

He's a great story teller and a lot of it is probably true. But when his whole SF/green beret stories with all those supposed kills could not be confirmed at all, i kinda started taking all those stories with a grain of salt.
