Dr. Amen also discusses the difference between "mental health" and "brain health," how to stop automatic negative thoughts, and how to control the "what ifs." Plus, Sadie and Dr. Amen touch on the importance of a healthy church and the effects of social media on your brain's health. It does sound a lot like faith doesn’t it? And if faith is the substance of things hoped for well…it would only stand to reason that we should be mindful about what we’re hoping for! Those “ANT’s, as we know are those wicked imaginations that we’re to cast down, And I love to plug in the truth as I’m doing it. Agape love to all!

I love how he mentioned having the church support brain health. This is super important because the Lord says consistently throughout the Bible “do not fear,” “do not be dismayed,” “be anxious for nothing,” and “with thanksgiving.” It’s amazing how everything Jesus tells us instantly relates to how our brains works! Dr. Amen talked about the power of gratitude and the harmful spirit of fear. And we see it reflected right in God’s Word!

I suffer from anxiety around fear of getting sick and throwing up. It sounds silly but breathing helps so much and prayer too. I love listening to this podcast as it helps me feel like I’m not alone or I’ll. I’m safe and I’m ok. I need to help my brain and it’s hard in the moment but I know it won’t last forever. I really liked how he said “let’s not call it mental illness”. I feel like that label is really harmful to people bc it becomes their identity. They say “oh well I struggle with mental illness” and it’s almost like a cop-out to justify them not trying to make themselves better. This was a really really good episode:)👏🏻👏🏻
@jordanflournoy492

I think it’s actually just a lot of incomprehension on how brains work and all the different things that can effect it. When you’re hurting or struggling with brain problems, which you can’t see, and a doctor says “oh you have XYZ wrong, take this pill to fix it” you wanna believe it’s true, and that they know how to help! Especially when everything else you know to do hasn’t helped. But I’m sure that’s not the case with everyone, just wanted to put my thought out :)
@xxteknuwafflexx2689

You cannot control real depression. That's like asking a person with schizophrenia to control their hallucinations. Mental illness is just as real as physical illness and should not be downplayed as something that can be treated with self-help and affirmation. Though many people do misdiagnosed themselves, or are even misdiagnosed by doctors with mental illness. Regardless, whether this agony so many feel is caused by demons fueled by our own self-pity, or from genuine neuropharmacological abnormalities, real mental illness is not controllable without medication, or at the very least, counselling and therapy.

I grew up without a Father. So many walk that same path of life, never knowing the TRUE guidance a Father can provide, the sense of protection, the unwavering love a Father is supposed to extend to his children. It only got harder once I had children of my own, HOW do I be a Father, when I don’t even know what it means…so many abandon their children asking that same question to themselves. God changed everything, God began showing me what it meant to love, to care, to nurture…but not just my children, but those around me “thy neighbor”. I realized I knew no Father, just so I could come to know THE FATHER, when the time was right 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 We are going to have “Moments of Uncertainty” But that is not as important as the element you use to relieve yourself. Many followers of Christ are still indulging in our vices and addictions to relieve our “Uncertainties” Lean on God in your darkest moments, lean on the word that says you were created with meaning and purpose, lean on the Grace of God…let it steady your mind, your heart and your body. I don’t know who I’m writing to, who’s reading this, but God is ready, and waiting for you to seek him, through Jesus Christ, whom he sent to die the death meant for you and I. Not just on Sunday, not just when you “need” him, not just when you’re desperate…but every day, hour, minute and second of your life. Develop consistency in Christ, and you will come to know what it means to “Be still, and know, that he is God” Glory be to God 🩸🩸🩸 If I still have you here, God bless you, join me as I take you inside a moment of my own personal “Uncertainty” in life, while never forgetting God has me always 🙏🏽🕊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VXfWQtxnwqc.html

Amen, God bless you brother in Christ. It is beautiful who God is. It really is special to grow in the knowlege of God- Who He is, His love for Jesus and Holy Spirit and than see who He is as a Father, as the Father, as OUR Father. From there we are able to gain healing, perspective, and love for those who may be a father, a leader, etc because we are grounded in our true Father and His love and responses and perspective on everything we may or may not say right- He responds and loves differently than the world. God bless you!

YES Paul Botello, beautifully said! We know those "uncertainties" we all experience, are are necessary for faith, and for trusting in Our Father, Yahweh :) HE has fearfully and wonderfully created us. Choice is our biggest asset and our toughest opponent! We must choose well. How do we know, what "well" is? It's all found in His Word--The Holy Scriptures. HE is also mighty to do what we cannot do for ourselves~ Alot of "fixes" that well meaning folks want to help us with, come from relying on self! There is no assurance in fully trusting in self ~ we are fallible in need of His Holy Spirit for guidance!

I wish I could see him for my issues.. ya know the sayin money can't buy happiness, well it certainly helps.. liek this for instance to afford an amazing Dr.. when u desp need it.. or even good foods. Cleaning products u name it everything that is good for u is expensive.. its horrible.. I have alit of trauma, abuse.. dealing with alot of hormone issues depression anxiety.. it just is soooo very hard to function feeling like this... I've had meds read countless books taken i cant count how many supplements I also took a course from someone that was costly..who gave that exact thought u are not ur mind and don't believe everything u think... I still can't seem to integrate that. Having the right Dr is crucial!
