@@icankillbugs no no fortunately… my pops won’t even let me get a bigger amp because we live an apartment and I can already blow the roof off lol, but it’s a 25 watt bass amp and I play guitar 😭 Unrelated, I’m just spewing out words lol but it has a contour button which drops the mids like it’s a guitar amp and I have an eq pedal so it sounds just like your average solid state guitar amp
I actually used this method when I bought a used 412 from a friend loaded with Cel 7080s for like $60. He said 2 of the speakers had blown but the DC resistance read only 8 ohms when it was supposed to be 16 ohms. With the multimeter, not only was I able to determine the DC resistance for impedance matching with tube amps, I was also able to fix the cab as well.
DUDE ! Thanks ! Just got my first 4 x 12 and the guy was talking "ITS MARKED 16 and 8 ...but" 2 inputs ...I knew it was an easy test ! GILWOOD IS PLEASED
I have the same multimeter now, and I still get readings on the plug all over the place. I measure at the speaker terminal of my 2x12 and get 3.6 for a 4 Ohm cab, which is right. Is my plug malfunctioning?
Wrong impedance really doesent blow you amp up. The worst thing that can happen is that it wont be as efficient. Although it does worth the impedance matching.
Odd that 4 8 ohm speakers would give you 4 ohm total, often 4x12 cabs are wired parallel in pairs then connected in series, which would make it an 8 ohm cab. I would make sure all speakers aren't wired in series, that would give you 32 ohm. You could compare wiring to an image online or share a picture on a guitar forum
Heads don't have resistance. They have a minimum resistance that you can use without blowing the head. So run a high impedance speaker and it will be fine... It just might not be as loud as it possibly could be with a lower resistance cab
How would someone realistically hookup 3 4x12 cabs to the back of a 150 watt Mesa triple rec.. been curious to try it, two marshall cabs at 16 ohms and one peavey invective 16 ohm cab. Thanks for the information!
I had this crate amp it got 2 inputs whit 2ohms minimum but it doesn't say anything about one normal and one parallel is ok to use a Y cable and connect both, because on the manual says both are parallel.?? I couldn't find any information about it if i can do this or no
@@DoesItDoom Thank you. I have the jim root custom cab and it had the same two outputs. How do I connect two 16 ohm cabs to my dark terror amp? Is there a difference between daisy chaining and connecting the seperatly to the amp?
@@אריאלחורין Contact Orange directly. You're best to get that directly from the manufacturer. I'm not saying this guy will give you incorrect information, but it's better to be safe.
This doesn't work! I bought the same multimeter you have and my brand new toneking Imperial MkII doesn't give a steady reading like your video. I call bs
