For sure, it's a personal speaker, quite easy to get better volume by adding the second for true stereo. This RU-vid video is cooked.

Yeah it could be a number of things, like his phone is garbage or his music app has volume normalization on, it's not the speaker because I've used this same xb100 on both my pixel 6a and my Galaxy s21 fe and at 50 percent volume it's loud as hell and thumps when plenty of bass, way louder than the xb12 I have and my cousin's xb13, considering how low in volume Sony speakers are for the sake of high sound quality the xb100 has impressive volume, online it's rated at 95db, so I think this guy is losing his hearing

And also if he is using some jank equilizer app it's going to further degrade the audio volume, I couldn't even use the one in Spotify as it wasn't compatible with my pixel and just made the music sound muffled and low.

Yeh na, I own both the go 4 and the xb100, no the go 4 is not louder than this speaker, it's your settings, because the xb100 is using higher quality LDAC codec and the go 4 uses SBC, if you turn off track normalization in the music app and or your phone,xb100 is going to blow the go 4 or of the water and also if your phone doesn't support LDAC then yeh it's going to be low running on the SBC Codec, you don't have to buy a flagship phone, any newer cheapo phone running a newer version of Android will fix this issue. Two of these in stereo gives my flip six a run for it's money and I'm my opinion two xb100 sound cleaner than the flip 6 with plenty of bass, because of the LDAC, as apposed to the SBC Codec my flip 6 runs

Sony xb100 doesn't have LDAC it's top out is at AAC only, but yeah you're right that go 4 is not louder than this, both sound equally loud and xb100 has more balanced and richer sound and bass.

While the Highs and Mids on the XB100 are good, I wouldn't spend 5k on it just because it's the latest one. Not worth it. Not a downgrade but definitely not a worthwhile upgrade.

Should try out Tribit speakers. Check my review of the Tribit XSound Go.

I am using Tribit XSound Go. It is not very loud for a 16W speaker but if you use aux cable , then you can actually shake the room

If you prefer super loud and bass heavy for under Rs3k. Go for the portronics sound drum P. It's the 20watt speaker king so far. Battery is average. But if you can add a rs500 more, then go for tritbit maxsound plus. Quality, loudness, bass and battery best

As great as JBL sounds there is a lot of sacrifice when it comes down to higher volumes, half volume sounds great but high volume is harsh and compressed, to me the Sony xbs beat JBL at higher volumes, JBLs are tuned for a lot of bass at half volume and really that's all they are good for, I think that's why Sony goes for lower wattage on there small speakers it frees up allot of room in the tuning department and is also why Sony tends to have better sound quality. I own the xb100, it's loud as hell at half volume, so I think the reviewing has a shity Chinese phone that doesn't provide LDAC support because yes this speaker will have weak volume on the SBC Codec, just because it can run SBC doesn't mean it was designed to, he should definitely stick with JBL .

That can't be a logical solution to low volume. You'll be spending close to 10K for it.

unfortunately throughout the years sony focusing on hifi-like richness sound quality for small speakers so it's getting more and more quiet. i remember the first zero bass wired stereo portable i had i rarely make it 100% volume, 2nd one 100% a lot of times, srsx11 sometimes 100% not enough. now xb100, i buy xb23 when i need loudness.

but i gotta say xb100 do great when you dont need loudness, at night, for background ambience. it's much more clean than louder speakers doing quiet sounds.
