As an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, my FIRST suggestion is.....FIRE US MINISTERS! Let the ORDINARY MINISTERS, the priests, give out ALL Communion. Even if it takes an extra 10 minutes. No one attending Holy Mass is that busy. SECOND, NO COMMUNION IN THE HAND! It fosters disrespect. Third, use the Communion Rails. KNEEL to recieve Our Lord, you will on your judgement day. Do all three, and belief in the REAL PRESENCE will skyrocket. It's at 30% now, a dismal testimony to our faith and catachesis since Vatican II.

I was taught to make the sign of the cross right after receiving communion.

When I was younger we received communion by mouth on our knees, the Devil changed it to the hands, check out what Fr Amorth says about that, so get back on your knees and show the Lord respect!

Taking communion in the hand leads to much potential desecration of the host. It is the real presence of our Lord. Particles can be left on your hand or even fall onto the floor. This is avoided if taken by mouth. I see no good reason to take communion by hand.

What's with all these comments on kneeling? There is no way i could kneel with my arthritic knees.

Communion in the hand is an abomination! Returning to communion on the tongue while kneeling would solve many of the problems in churches today.

I don't like bowing to someone's back . I usually wait until they move away. I've also had the priest try to place the Host on my tongue while I am saying "Amen!" It is a bit awkward . What's the hurry?

I never could figure out why the Catholics can't drink the wine after they eat the wafer.i don't understand why the priest can't just hand the congregation the wafer so they could put it in their own mouths.

As a priest, I must admit I much prefer giving people Holy Communion in their hand. I only wish more people knew the proper way to receive..... whether it’s in the hand or on the tongue. We go over proper reception 2-3 times each year.
