With the use of hydro forming in aluminium, it’s possible to be much more precise than carbon fibre in terms of varying strength/flexibility. It’s a technology that’s not being used to its fullest in bicycle frames, yet. Aerospace and Motorsport is increasingly looking at advanced aluminium construction for more reliable and cost effective solutions to some of the problems associated with Carbon Fibre.

That’s great. Believe it or not, alloy is more likely to fatigue and crack waaaay before carbon fibre. The main issue with carbon fibre is the manufacturing. If it has defects it has potential to crack. But a well manufactured frame won’t unless it experiences a sharp impact.

Sounds like you're just desperately trying to scare people into buying higher tier bikes. Any examples from mainstream manufacturers of entry-level carbon frames that are objectively worse than high end alloy frames? Yeah didn't think so.
@ryoukokonpaku1575
@ryoukokonpaku1575 Месяц назад
From an engineering perspective it can definitely be. Some use lower tier carbon fiber, so to compensate they use a thicker layer for structural integrity if they value safety of the rider. This eliminates the weight advantages they can have over hydroformed aluminum which can get really light and even won't have compliance if poorly structured which the same hydroformed aluminum can also have. It would depend on what rider and type of rider you do, if you do short stints it may not be noticeable, but if it's a steep long climb or a 2x mile ride, those things can make a difference on confort.
