Every time someone gets introduced as a genius in a movie, there’s immediately going to be another character who starts acting like a stupid asshole to them so the genius can flex their 6 bajillion IQ. It’s the law.
You made an honest mistake? Well, I'm going to be arrogant and demean, denigrate and insult the shit out of you without revealing any of my intelligence.
My ex wife had me watch this movie with her, and after she said nothing to me and i looked at her and started to cry and all she did in silence was hold tight until i stop crying. It was then that i realized why. Ive been on meds now for over 20 years. Thank you Beth. Even though we are no longer married I love you for the person you were and the person you are, I'm love the friendship that we share and will always be here for you.❤❤
I hope she read this beautiful dedication. I am currently with the mother of my children. We may not work out but she has tolerated me and my mental and psychological issues for 8 years and I'm not sure she will stay much longer. But I love her dearly and she has helped me realize so much about myself and I hope if it comes down to it we can find a way to stay friends. I'm honestly scared to live without her.
My friend has been on meds for many years, too. He has the same problem. He asked me to watch this movie as it could help to understand him better. I did it. It's a great movie, it made me cry, but also it gave me hope.
This movie always reminds me of my dad, he grew up in rural Mississippi and was the only person in his town to be accepted to an ivy in YEARS. That said, after working in academia for only a year or two he forced himself to speak with a northern accent and destroyed his Mississippi accent because no one would take him seriously. He became a predominant astrophysicist and is now the provost of a prestigious university I will not name. His qualifications mattered to no one, nor his background. The second they heard a southern accent they would immediately write him off. He’s such a great man and as he gets older im happy to hear a bit of his southern twang come back but he never would have made it as far as he did if he spoke with a southern accent
Brilliant film. The scene where Martin finally shows his respect and admiration for John is very wholesome. As is the scene when John’s mental state is seriously deteriorating and the first man to help him is Martin. Don’t let this short clip make you feel like they were enemies.
They were definitely friends, Nash was just paranoid, the film shows everything through his perspective... it took a long time before he realized they were friends.
On my dvd of the movie, it has extras. And one of the extras was of John Nash being interviewed and asked what he thought of Crowe’s portrayal of himself. And Nash pointed to the scene in the movie where Nash is teaching class in a t-shirt, talking to the class and writing math notation on the chalkboard at the same time. The real Nash was impressed with Crowe being able to do that, saying something to the effect “Writing math notation uninterrupted while speaking aloud about something else non-math related is really difficult to do.” My brother, who is a high school math teacher himself, agreed with that when I showed him the clip so many years ago.
Definitely MY favorite actor due to not only his talent but all the memories I have of watching his movies with my father who I lost a couple years back… Master and Commander is an amazing film and Russel Crowe’s acting playing “Lucky Jack” is absolutely *sublime* It was me and my dad’s favorite movie to watch together and I think it was because the movie had so many examples of what my dad was trying to raise me to be. Gallantry, Respect, Honor, Duty, Loyalty, Leadership, Bravery, Cleverness & Understanding your opponent, all the while being the most important thing of them all… *A TRUE GENTLEMAN* -Miss you Dad, see you soon ❤🌌
@@LM-ys8kr no I wonder about Mathew McConayghey. I really love him as an actor. As a Brit I love his accent. He wasn’t in my top 5 though. My Top 5 are Daniel Day Lewis, Russel Crowe, Kevin Costner, Leonardo dicaprio and the guy that played opposite Russel Crowe in Gladiator but I can’t spell his name. But there’s loads more like Liam neeson (who’s been made more famous by the taken stuff but I actually thought he was great before that, densel Washington, Jonny depp, Brad Pitt etc all the usuals who are clearly major league Hollywood stars already.
"I imagine you're getting quite used to miscalculations..." When a line covers the whole video wonderfully before I even watch the rest of the video. 😆
My ex was good friends with John's daughter-they grew up together. I never knew about his fame back in those days. My ex worked for the woman played by Diane Keaton in the movie Shoot the Moon.
Powerful movie. My stepson, brilliant guy, went through severe psychotic periods, homelessness. We later discussed the movie, each understanding the message regarding persistent 'delusions' - Don't entertain the demons.
@@endefire139 there’s a scene where he’s giving his baby(?) a bath and it’s lying there in the tub with the water filling up closer and closer to covering the baby and he’s just staring into space. We were in like math or some shit lol this was like 11 years ago to be fair
He is such a good actor. My favourite film is Gladiator where he plays a completely badass Gladiator bent only on revenge for his family and he plays this role here brilliantly and every other one I’ve seen him play has been amazing.
I watched this movie with my girlfriend. People always said I cared about her too much. They said I was so obsessed that I should go to a psychiatric ward, so eventually they put me there. I took some meds and can't seem to find my girlfriend that I watched this movie with. Infact, they said she never even existed. Can you imagine that?
I see Mellish... can't unsee Mellish. wish I could, but I can't. ANY actor from SPR.. including Hanks. pre, and post. I see them, from SPR. odd, but real.
Having seen that movie, I always wondered, do you think the other guys standing there were just, standing awkwardly? Or was Martin real at that point? And only an illusion later in life?
