I personally collect hot wheels, not only for the fun of it, but because it reminds me of my childhood and to always keep my passions alive. I definitely don’t plan on selling any of the ones I own, so it’s not about monetary value for me. Not much beats pulling a car I really admire out of the package and holding it in my hand. I definitely agree with a lot of what you have to say!

take a cotton ball with nail polish remover and soak the exact area that the plastic bubble is glued to through the back of the card (really soak it around those edges you don’t need it in the middle obviously) and the plastic bubble will come free with no effort at all and it’s the easiest way to keep your cards. I do this with premium series as well lol

I got into this hobby 1 week ago, already have 6 cars. I only buy what my eyes love, if I feel like meh I dont buy it. First days I kept them sealed. Its cool to see it in pristine condition inside the plastic blister, but eventually I cracked them all open to feel their shape and features and planning on preserving them in small individual seal-bags.

I started collecting about a year and a half ago and I've kept almost everything sealed. The only time I open a car is if there's considerable damage to the card (especially if the plastic holding the car on the card is cracked) or if its a mainline that I have duplicates of. I cant bring myself to open a perfectly carded mainline let alone a Premium or RLC lol! I love opened collections though and I live vicariously through all of you amazing collectors that open your cars and share them for us to see! ( :

Keeping your cars carded also help to preserve the car in its mint condition better! (Most of the time anyways) I think another point that has been always neglected was the card arts made by Mattel designers… I really appreciate the card arts on Hotwheels especially the car culture lineup. @@UnTouchGamingHD There is no garauntee that he will find buyers in future for his hotwheels. For emergency he should have emergency funds or invest in gold or real estate. @UnTouchGamingHD
@UnTouchGamingHD 10 месяцев назад
@@mein3324 Of course there's no guarantee that someone will buy your hotwheels. I'm just saying that it's a bonus "asset" you can have in the future if you need money in the future. And besides, keeping it carded preserves the car's physical condition better and retains its value much better than a loose. So why not just make the most out of your hobby while you're in it? There's no right and wrong in collecting tbh! And if hotwheels is your only emergency funds in the future, then I think you're doing something wrong already... 🤷‍♂

I completely agree now as an adult. But with kids of my own who want to play with them, of course I will allow them to play with some of them or keep them for themselves and whatnot. I will put aside the special ones out of sight so there's no question about what they can and can't play with. In my mind, as long as the car is open, they can see it and ask for it, there's no reason for me not to allow them to play with it (most of the time lol) Unless it's some mainline cars that are my absolute favorites. :)

I'm in the same boat, l used to crack open every car I bought 15-20 years ago, whatever the scale. I've been collecting carded/boxed for several years now and indeed, when thinning out my collection, the unopened stuff sells so much quicker than the loose ones, especially in 1:64. Collecting carded though does require disciplined storage to keep everything mint. Thanks for the great video👍

I've been a collector myself for about 11 years, and what I've started doing is normally collecting 2 of the same vehicle, whether it would be a licensed model or a fantasy casting, the reason I pick up 2 is so I can unbox one and keep the other carded, on my wall to gain value. At the time I'm writing this comment, I have about 130-135 on my wall, including 3 regular treasure hunts and one super.

Hi! I have put together a set of loose mint highway 35 cars and have a custom Carney plastics display case to put them in and wanted to display it in my garage but before I did I wanted to ask if they would be ok displayed in a non climate controlled space like that? It doesn't get much sun in it so they wouldn't be affected much by UV rays but wasn't sure about the temperature change potentially damaging the cars even though they will be in a sealed case. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Found your video from the Home page, just FYI if you're tracking those metrics Very grateful for your opening statements, we are very much alike there! The carded/loose question comes down to one's perspective and future value in collecting. I collect for the enjoyment _now_ not some perceived future value in my case as a childless middle aged person. Not looking for $TH or RLC models, just what's fun and exciting at the moment. Love your backdrop, very effective for your presentation!!

I have them carded, but then I had the issue of loosing some space to store them. I didn't want to open them because it will ruin the design, but I also had the feeling of opening them and inspect my cars. I then had the idea to use nail polish to remove the plastic case of the car without damaging them. Some did had a few scuffs, but their miner. Now I can display the car looks and keep the card in a photo album, almost like collecting Pokemon cards and so on. If you feel like this seems to be an ok idea I would recommend buying a test package. That way you can have some experience on how much nail polish is enough to remove the plastic (without any damage). Also for you to see if it's something you would like to do.

Plus if you open them, you save space and (if youre like me) you wont have to worry so much about trying to keep the card in mint condition. If you arent worried about value down the road, keep them carded or open them (in this case the choice is yours)!

As I'm no kid anymore, I don't play with toys like I used to back then and I already know how the cars feel from having and playing with a bunch of diecasts before as a child. So as an adult and now a more serious collector, I personally enjoy looking at them as they're carded. I can see them clearly anyways. The only exceptions are for cars that can't be seen from the outside, such as the Hot Wheels ID series, Mystery Models, etc. Only then should I have to open them up to inspect them and hold them for a while, take a bunch of photos for each one, and then put them back in their boxes/cases/packagings to lock them away until time comes that I miss them, want to show them off, or sell/trade them.

There are nothing being produced now that will be worth anything in the future, except for a few STHs. I have sold many loose and carded cars when thinning out my collection, and I haven’t noticed any real difference on the two. It is all about if the car is popular or rare, not if it is on the card or not. Unless you have carded Redlines or Blackwalls, it makes no real difference. Personally, I open most of my cars and display them or make customs. If I bought Hot Wheels thinking that I would eventually sell them for a profit, I would have never started collecting them in the 70’s.

I keep the blisters because i cant remember all the car names. By keep in the card, i can identify the car models and also the year or theme.

Good video. I realized you can't keep everything. Definitely going to sell one day. Got 80% carded. Better things to put money into and space in an issue. The bonus to sell carded stuff is that you rewarded for keeping it original and selling it for little more or sometimes alot

In India,at least around me,no one collect HW cars. So,I can never sell a car. So I can collect them loose.

What I do is I cut around the plastic so you can lift the plastic up then take the car out to play with it, then you just put it back in the packageing. The only ones I reccomend not cutting is the STH or the TH.
